Nd-Fe-B계 급냉리본의 산화거동과 자기적 특성 (Oxidation Behavior and Magnetic Properties of Nd-Fe-B Based Melt-Spun Ribbons)

  • Nd-(Fe, Co)-B합금에 Ni, Al, Ti등을 복합치환하여 그에 따른 산화거동과 자기적 성질의 변화를 조사하였다. 이들 리본의 산호거동은 parabolic한 거동을 나타내고 있으며, Ni 첨가시 매우 낮은 산화량을 나타내었다. 또한 산화된 리본은 Nd-rich상의 우선적 산화에 의해 표면에 요철이 관찰되었으며 Ni 첨가시 그러한 요철은 많이 줄어들었다. 표면의 산화층은 Nd산화물이었고, 이는 입계에 있는 Nd-rich상이 산화되고 이것이 확산 통로로 작용하였다고 생각된다. 산화가 진행됨에 따라 입계상에 의한 domain wall pinning이 약해져 자기특성이 저하하였다. 그러나 Ni 첨가시 이러한 산화거동이 크게 억제되었으며 Ni의 첨가는 Nd-rich상의 산화저항성을 증가시킴으로써 리본의 산화를 억제해 자기특성의 저하를 억제하였다.

  • Laser heat treatment is an effective technique used to improve the tribological properties and also to increase the service life of automobile components such as camshafts, crankshatfs, lorry brake drums and gears. High power $CO_{2}$ lasers and Nd:YAG lasers are employed for localized hardening of materials and hence are of potential application in the automobile industries. The heat is conducted rapidly into the bulk of the specimen causing self-quenching to occur and the formation of matrensitic structure. In this investigation, the microstructrual features occurring in Nd:YAG laser hardening SM45C and $STD_{11}$ steel are discussed with the use of optical microscopic and scanning electron microscopic analysis. Moreover, This paper describes the optimisation of the processing parameters for maximum hardened depth of SM45C and $STD_{11}$ steel specimens of 10mm thickness by using CW Nd:YAG laser.

  • 본 연구는 $1.3{\mu}m$ 파장의 초고속 Nd:YAG레이저 펄스를 얻기 위해 AOM을 이용하여 모드록킹 Nd:YAG레이저 공진기를 구성하였다. 여기용 반도체 레이저는 중심파장 810nm, 출력 1.2W이며, 레이저 매질은 직경 3mm, 길이 10mm로 $Nd^{3+}$가 1.0at%로 도핑된 Nd:YAG Rod를 사용하였다. 모드록킹에는 음향광학 변조기(변조 주파수 40MHz)를 사용하여 펄스폭 ${\tau}p=80ps$의 극초단 펄스를 얻었다.

Preparation of Zone-melted NdBaCuO under Low Oxygen Pressure

  • The NdBaCuO superconductor samples were Zone-melted in low oxygen partial pressure (1% $O_{2}+ 99% Ar$ ). The Zone-melting temperature was decreased about $120^{\circ}C$ from $1060^{\circ}C$ the zone-melting temperature in air. Thus the loss of liquid phase ($BaCuO_{2}$ and CuO) was reduced during the zone-melting process. The content of non-superconducting phase Nd422 in zone-melted NdBaCuO samples was clearly decreased, so was the substitution of Nd for Ba. The superconductivity of zone-melted $Nd_{1+x}Ba_{2-x}Cu_{3}O_{y}$ prepared under low oxygen partial pressure was distinctively improved.

  • 파장 792 nm의 AlGaAs 레이저 다이오드로 펌핑되는 Nd:YLF 레이저를 제작하여 펌핑세기와 펌핑빔의 파장에 대한 출력특성을 조사하였다. Brewster 각으로 되어있는 Nd:YLF봉에서 발생하는 비점수차를 보정하기 위하여 공진기 구조를 접힌형태로 하였다. 연속 출력 2.6Watt로 펌핑하였을 때 발진파장 1053 nm에서 최대 출력 1.1Watt를 얻었으며, 이때 전체효율이 39% 였다.

Observations of Exchange Coupling in Nd2Fe14B/Fe/Nd2Fe14B Sandwich Structures and Their Magnetic Properties

  • Sandwich structures of$ Nd_2Fe_{14}B/Fe/Nd_2Fe_{14}B $magnetic films have been grown by a KrF excimer laser (λ=248 nm) ablation technique. Magnetic properties were characterized by varying the thickness of hard ($Nd_2Fe_{14}B$) and soft (Fe) magnetic films and the volume fraction as well. In the (x)nm[NdFeB]/(y)nm[Fe]/(x)nm[NdFeB]/(100) Si structure the thickness (x) was varied from 3.6 to 54 nm, and (y) from 15 to 112 nm. At (y) = 15~20 nm where the volume fraction of Fe corresponded to 61~75%, the sandwich structure exhibited an enhanced Mr/Ms and iHc as well from the result of the exchange coupling between the magnetic layers. Experimentally calculated exchange constant$ (A_s) of A_s = 2.5{\times}10^{-10} J/m$ was estimated using the intrinsic coercivity (iHc) of 1.2 kOe at 5 K for the sandwich magnetic trilayers.

Magnetic Properties and Impedance Spectroscopic Studies of Multiferroic Bi1-xNdxFeO3 Materials

  • Nd-doped $BiFeO_3$ materials were synthesized via a sol-gel method. The crystal structure, magnetic properties, and complex impedance spectroscopy of multiferroic $Bi_{1-x}Nd_xFeO_3$ (BNFO) materials were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman scattering, vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), and complex impedance spectroscopy. Our results show that the lattice crystal constants (a, c) and the ratio c/a of BNFO materials decreased with increasing Nd concentration. All samples exhibited weak ferromagnetism at room temperature, and the magnetization of samples was enhanced by the presence of $Nd^{3+}$ ions. There was an enhancement in the spontaneous magnetization of BFO with increasing Nd concentration, which is attributable to the collapse of the spin cycloid structure.

  • $LiNbO_3$ 단결정에 $Nd_2O_3$0.2~0.5 wt.%를 칭량하여 결정을 성장 시켰다. 그리고 광손상을 억제하기 위해 ZnO 2~8 mole%를 첨가하여 광손상에 대한 저항성을 높였다. 본 연구에서는 Nd가 doping된 단결정을 성장시켜 주기적인 domain을 만들고자 하였다

Optical Properties of PbS Quantum Dots (QDs) Precipitated in Nd3+-Containing Glasses

  • Silicate glasses with different $Nd_2O_3$ concentrations were prepared through conventional melt-quenching methods while PbS quantum dots (QDs) were precipitated through heat treatment. The peak wavelengths of absorption and the photoluminescence of PbS QDs shifted to the short-wavelength side as the concentration of $Nd_2O_3$ increased. The electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS) indicated that $Nd^{3+}$ ions were preferentially distributed inside the PbS QDs instead of the glass matrix. In addition, there was no significant change in the lifetimes of the $Nd^{3+}:^4F_{3/2}$ fluorescence between the as-prepared glass ($607{\mu}s$) and the heat-treated glass($576{\mu}s$). $Nd^{3+}$ ions were surrounded by oxygen instead of sulfur and the Nd-O clusters probably acted as nucleating centers for the formation of PbS QDs inside the glasses.
