Mechanical Properties of SiC-$Si_3$$N_4$Composites Containing $\beta$-$Si_3$$N_4$Seeds ($\beta$-$Si_3$$N_4$종자입자 첨가 SiC-$Si_3$$N_4$복합재료의 기계적 특성)

  • $\beta$-Si$_3$N$_4$종자입자 첨가가 소결조제로 Y-Mg-Si-Al-O-N계 oxynitride glass를 사용하여 일축가압 소결을 행한 SiC-Si$_3$N$_4$복합재료의 미세구조와 기계적 특성에 미치는 영향을 고찰하였다. 길게 자란 $\beta$-Si$_3$N$_4$입자들과 등방성의 $\beta$-SiC 입자들이 균일하게 분포된 미세구조를 얻었다. $\beta$-Si$_3$N$_4$종자입자 함량이 증가함에 따라 SiC-Si$_3$N$_4$복합재료의 강도와 파괴인성이 증가하였고, 이는 복합화에 기인하는 결함크기의 감소와 길게 자란 $\beta$-Si$_3$N$_4$입자에 의한 균열가교 및 균열회절 등에 기인하였다. SiC-70 wt% Si$_3$N$_4$복합재료의 대표적인 강도와 파괴인성은 각각 770 MPa과 6.2 MPa.m$^{1}$2/ 이었다.

  • Thirteen compounds were synthesized by condensing the N-heterocyclic amines (piperidine, pyrrolidine, morpholine) and secondary aliphatic amines (dimethylamine, diethylamine) with 3,4-methylenedioxyphenylalkenoic acid chlorides for developing CNS depressants. Among them, N, N-diethyl-3,4-methylenedioxycinnamamide (IX) and N, N-dimethyl-5-(3,4-methylenedioxyphenyl)-2, 4-pentadienoic acid amicle (XII) exhibited strong activity in antagonism against pentylenetetrazole-induced convulsion, strychnine-induced convulsion and maximal electroshock seizure. N, N-Dimethyl-3, 4-methylenedioxycinnamide (VIII) showed more potent activity in antagonism against strychnine-induced convulsion and maximal electroshock seizure and in the prolongation of hexobarbital sleeping time.

A cytotaxonomic study of Vicia L. (Fabaceae) in Korea (한국산 나비나물속(콩과)의 세포분류학적 연구)

  • Somatic chromosome numbers for 10 taxa and karyotypes analysis for 6 taxa of Korean Vicia were investigated. Somatic chromosome numbers of treated taxa were 2n = 12, 14 or 24 and therefore they proved to be diploid or tetraploid with basic chromosome numbers of x = 6 or 7. The chromosome number of V. hirticalycina (2n = 2x = 12) was reported for the first time in this study. The chromosome numbers of nine taxa were the same as in previous studies; V. angustifolia (2n = 2x = 12), V. cracca (2n = 4x = 24), V. hirsuta (2n = 2x = 14), V. tetrasperma (2n = 2x = 14 + 2B), V. amurensis (2n = 2x = 12), V. chosenensis (2n = 2x = 12, 12 + 2B), V. unijuga (2n = 4x = 24), V. unijuga f. minor (2n = 4x = 24), V. venosa var. cuspidata (2n = 4x = 24). The karyotypes of V. cracca, V. amurensis, V. hirticalycina, V. unijuga, V. unijuga f. minor, V. venosa var. cuspidata were observed as 2 m + 8 sm + 2 st, 2 m + 2 sm + 2 st, 3 m + 1 sm + 2 st, 4 m + 6 sm + 2 st, 4 m + 6 sm + 2 st, 4 m + 8 sm, respectively.

  • Four amphoteric surfactants, 1-(N-alkyl-N,N-dimethyl ammonio)-4-naphthalene sulfonates, were prepared by the alkylation of 1-(N,N-dimethylamino)-4,naphthalene sulfonic acid with chloroalkanes such as 1-decylchloride, 1-tetradecyl chloride and 1-hexadecyl chloride. These quaternary ammonium compounds such as 1-(N-decyl-N, N-dimethylammonio)-4-naphthalene sulfonate, 1-(N-dodecyl-N,N-dimethylammonio)-4-naphthalene sulfonate, 1-(N-tetradecyl-N,N-dimethylammonio)-4-naphthalene sulfonate and 1-(N-hexadecyl-N,N-dimethylammonio)-4-naphthalene sulfonate could be separated by means of thin layes chromatography and column chromatography. The surface chemical properties such as surface tension, foaming power, foam stability, wetting efficiency and solubilizing effect for these four compounds were measured. Also critical micelle concentration and hydrophilic-lipophilic balance(HLB) were evaluated. These compounds showed good surface as O/W type emulsifying agent and detergent.

  • Reactions of N-acyl-1,4-dimethoxy-2-naphthylamines with N,N-dimethylformamide dialkyl acetals afforded, in all cases, the same product, N,N-dimethyl-N'-2-(1,4-dimethoxy)naphthylurea. In these reactions, it was observed that N,N-dimethylformamide dialkyl acetals act as a dimethylamination agent when electron-deficient cites are present in the substrates.

  • The $TiO_2/Si_3N_4/Ag/Si_3N_4/TiO_2$ multi layered structure was designed for the possible application of transparent electrodes in PDP (Plasma Display Panel). Multi layered film was deposited on a glass substrate at room temperature by DC/RF magnetron sputtering system and EMP (Essential Macleod Program) was adopted to optimize the optical characteristics of film. During the deposition process, the Ag layer in $TiO_2/Ag/TiO_2$ became heavily oxidized and the filter characteristic was degraded easily. In thus study, Si3N4 layer was used as a diffusion buffer layer between $TiO_2$ and Ag. in order to prevent the oxidation of Ag layer in $TiO_2/Si_3N_4/Ag/Si_3N_4/TiO_2$ structure. It was confirmed that $Si_3N_4$ layer is one of candidate materials acting as diffusin barrier between $TiO_2/Ag/TiO_2$.

  • Copper(II) complexes with tetraoxo dithia tetraaza macrocyclic ligands; [18]ane$N_4S_2$: 1,4,10,13-tetraaza-5,9,14,18-tetraoxo-7,16-dithia-cyclooctadecane, [20]ane$N_4S_2$: 1,5,11,15-tetraaza-6,10,16,20-tetraoxo-8,18-dithia-cyclocosane,Bzo2[18]ane$N_4S_2$: dibenzo-1,4,10,13-tetraaza-5,9,14,18-tetraoxo-7,16-dithia-cyclooctadecane, Bzo2[20]ane$N_4S_2$: dibenzo-1,5,11,15-tetraaza-6,10,16,20-tetraoxo-8,18-dithia-cyclocosane; were entrapped in the nanopores of zeolite-Y by a two-step process in the liquid phase: (i) adsorption of [bis(diamine)copper(II)] (diamine = 1,2-diaminoethane, 1,3-diaminopropane, 1,2-diaminobenzene, 1,3-diaminobenzene); $[Cu(N-N)_2]^{2+}$-NaY; in the nanopores of the zeolite, and (ii) in situ template condensation of the copper(II) precursor complex with thiodiglycolic acid. The obtained complexes and new host-guest nanocomposite materials; $[Cu([18]aneN_4S_2)]^{2+}-NaY,\;[Cu([20]aneN_4S_2)]^{2+}-NaY,\;[Cu(Bzo_2[18]aneN_4S_2)]^{2+}-NaY,\;[Cu(Bzo_2[20]aneN_4S_2)]^{2+}$-NaY; have been characterized by elemental analysis FT-IR, DRS and UV-Vis spectroscopic techniques, molar conductance and magnetic moment data, XRD and, as well as nitrogen adsorption. Analysis of data indicates all of the complexes have been encapsulated within nanopore of zeolite Y without affecting the zeolite framework structure.

  • -4,9-dione derivatives were prepared from $2-chloro-3-({\alpha}-accetyl-{\alpha}-ethoxycarbonyl-methyl)-1,4-naphthoquinone$ and 2-chloro-3-N-phenylamino-1,4-naphthoquinone. $2-Chloro-3-({\alpha}-acetyl-{\alpha}-ethoxycarbonyl-methyl)-1,4-naphthoquinone$ was reacted with amines to give $2-amino-3-({\alpha}-acetyl-{\alpha}-ethoxycarbonyl-methyl)-1,4-naphthoquinone$ derivatives. Subsequent treatment of $2-amino-3-({\alpha}-acetyl-{\alpha}-ethoxycarbonyl-methyl)-1,4-naphthoquinone$ with sodium ethoxide gave -4,9-dione derivatives. When 2-chloro-3-N-phenylamino-1,4-naphthoquinone reacted with sodium ${\alpha}-cyano$ ethyl acetate, 2-amino-3-ethoxycarbonyl-N-phenyl--4,9-dione was obtained. However, with sodium diethyl malonate, not -4,9-dione but 2-chloro-3-bis-(methoxycarbonyl)-methyl-2H-3-N-phenylamino-1,4-naphthoquinone was obtained.
