Nd/sub 0.05/Y/sub 0.95/Ca₄O(BO₃)₃(Nd:YCOB) single crystals were grown by the Czochralski method using a iridium crucible under N₂ atmosphere. Optimum growth parameters to get high quality of single crystals were 1.5∼2 mm/hr of growth rate and 10∼20 rpm of rotation rate. The grown crystals were transparent with light purple color and well-developed in cleavage planes. The crystal structure of Nd;YCOB were identified to monoclinic by XRD method. Crystal defects acting as light scattering centers, such as micro-pores, secondary phases, inclusions and cracks were not observed under the He-Ne laser illuminations. Three red, green, blue laser devices for the RGB laser oscillations were designed and then fabricated from the grown Nd:YCOB crystals according to the phase-matching angles of negative type-I which were φ=16.40°, 33.95° and θ=22.59° with the flatness of λ/6 at least, respectively.
This thesis studied whether friction welding of SPSS, localized torsion bar material could be accomplished or not. And then optimum welding conditions were examined and leaded through tensile, impact, torsion and hardness test after postweld heat treatment of the actual field condition. Obtained results were as follows; Linear relationship was existed between heating time and total upset, and a quadratic equation model could be made between tensile strength and heating time. Optimum welding conditions with fine structure were as follows in case total upset(U)=8.5mm; the number of rotations(n)=2,000 rpm, heating pressure($p_1$)=80MPa, upset pressure($p_2$)=200MPa, heating time($t_1$)=4sec, upset time($t_2$)=3 sec.

Surface Permanent-Magnetic-Synchronous-Generator (SPMSG) discussed in the present study has operational characteristics such as high rotational speed over 1,000 rpm and centrifugal force of 12 kN·m for each magnet. Structure-development analysis for the minimization of rotor-core weights and the maximization of thermal emission is performed by applying the aluminum-laminated cap which combines the advantages of IPM and SPM in order to overcome the difficulty that attaching the magnet to rotor-core only with an adhesive. In this study, the simulations in terms of structure and electromagnetic were performed with the variable parameters such as shape and thickness of laminated-cap and division method of magnet. As a result, condition for minimized centrifugal force with minimum loss is derived.

Spin finish(SF) for nylon filament was prepared. The influence on the properties of filament obtained by treating the prepared spin finish in this study(SF-2) and foreign-made spin finish(Spinnar N-100) was compared. SF-2 prepared by blending of spindle oil 70g, paraffin wax 10g, glyceryl mono-oleate 5g, POE(6) nonylphenyl ether 4g, POE(10) nonylphenyl ether 4g, POE(10) octylphenyl ether 2g, POE(14) mono-oleate 4g and water 1g was excellent in its characteristics. Some of the properties of Nylon filament treated with SF-2 were better than those treated with Spinnar N-100. Also, optimal physical conditions of nylon filament according to the number of revolution of oil roller were obtained at conditions of 5rpm of number of revolution oil roller, 1.25% of SF-2 oil pick up, and denier 69D.

Since the electric vehicle uses an electric motor, problems have arisen as the driver hears the inherent noise of the motor or external noise, which was not a problem in the past, due to the overall lower noise environment than when using an internal combustion engine. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to reduce the noise and vibration of electric motors for electric vehicles, and recently, to increase the speed of high-power, high-efficiency electric motors in a small size, and to develop low-noise motors, IPM motors are applied to produce 35KW electric motors for electric vehicles. A motor for low noise was designed and implemented. N-T Curve and efficiency map were confirmed as the final result of developing a 35KW low-noise motor for electric vehicles by applying the IPM motor applied in this paper. Based on 3500 rpm, Max Torque [Nm]: 121.15, Max Power [KW]: 44.04, and Max Efficiency [%]: 97.65, showing high efficiency.
Cortex Phellodendri (CP) is derived from the dried bark of Phellodendron amurense. It has been widely used as a drug in traditional Korea medicine for treating diarrhea, jaundice, swelling pains in the knees and feet, urinary tract infections, and infections of the body surface. Many analytical methods have been used to study oriental herbal medicines, such as thin-layer chromatography, column liquid chromatography, and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). In this study, preparative centrifugal partition chromatography (CPC) was successfully carried out in order to separate pure compounds from a CP methanol extract. The optimum two-phase CPC solvent system was composed of n-butanol: acetic acid: water (4:1:5 v/v/v). The flow rate of the mobile phase was 3 mL/min in ascending mode with rotation at 1,000 rpm. The CPC-separated fraction and purification procedures were carried out by preparatory HPLC. The $^1H$ NMR spectrum revealed that the resonances at ${\delta}$ 4.10 and 4.20 ppm corresponded to three protons ($-OCH_3$), whereas those at ${\delta}$ 6.10 ppm corresponded to two protons ($-OCH_2O-$). Further, two aromatic protons (H-11 and H-12) conveys a doublet-doublet pattern. The H-11 doublet and H-12 doublet appear at ${\delta}$ 7.98 and 8.11, respectively. The $^{13}C$ NMR. spectrum showed a tetrasubstituted with a methylenedioxy group at C2 and C3, and two methoxy groups at C9 and C10. The chemical structure of the berberine was identified by $^1H$, $^{13}C$-nuclear magnetic resonance and electrospray ionization-mass spectroscopy spectral data analysis.

Methyl violet, used extensively in the commercial textile industry and as a biological stain, is a hazardous recalcitrant. Aspergillus sp. strain CB-TKL-1 isolated from a water sample from Tsumoriri Lake, Karzok, Ladakh, India, was found to completely decolorize methyl violet within 24 h when cultured under aerobic conditions at $25^{\circ}C$. The rate of decolorization was determined by monitoring the decrease in the absorbance maxima of the dye by UV-visible spectroscopy. The decolorization of methyl violet was optimal at pH 5.5 and $30^{\circ}C$ when agitated at 200 rpm. Addition of glucose or arabinose (2%) as a carbon source and sodium nitrate or soyapeptone (0.2%) as a nitrogen source enhanced the decolorization ability of the culture. Furthermore, the culture exhibited a maximum decolorization rate of methyl violet after 24 h when the C:N ratio was 10. Nine N-demethylated decolorized products of methyl violet were identified based on UV-visible spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), and LC-MS analyses. The decolorization of methyl violet at the end of 24 h generated mono-, di-, tri-, tetra-, penta-, and hexa-N-demethylated intermediates of pararosaniline. The variation of the relative absorption peaks in the decolorized sample indicated a linear decrease of hexa-N-demethylated compounds to non-N-demethylated pararosaniline, indicating a stepwise N-demethylation in the decolorization process.
Under W/O emulsion method using a homogenizer, ${\alpha}$-alumina powder was prepared to evaluate the effects of experimental conditions on its properties, such as particle shape, extent of aggregation, average particle size and distribution. The experimental parameters were the change of type, quantity and composition of emulsifiers as well as the change of O : W volumetric ratio and agitation rate. As results, in the case of the use of single surfactant of SP80, sphere-like particles could be prepared and the average particle size was hardly affected by the agitation speed more than 16000 rpm regardless of SP80 quantity used. When the extent of aggregation among sphere-like particles prepared using $HLB_m$ = 5 of [SP80 & TW80] was compared with that prepared using SP80 at the same vol% surfactant and agitation speed, the former showed more or less low aggregation phenomena and average particle size was slightly reduced. In addition, the fraction of nano-sized particles with low aggregation was increased by the use of 0.1 vol% n-butanol, as a co-surfactant, with $HLB_m$ = 5 of [SP80 & TW80].

A study on friction welding of stainless steel bar(SUS431) to chrome molybdenum steel bar(SCM21) was accomplished experimentally through analysis for relations among friction welding conditions, tension test, hardness test, microstructure test and acoustic emission test. The results obtained are summarized as follows ; 1. Through friction welding of SUS431 bar to SCM21 bar, the optimum welding condition by considering on strength and toughness was found to be the range of heating time of 3-5 sec when the number of rotating speed of 2000rpm, heating pressure of 10kg/$mm^2$, and upsetting time of 4 sec. 2. Quantitative ralationship was identified between heating time($T_1$, sec) and tensile strength (${\sigma},\;kgf/mm^2$) of the friction welded joint and the relation equation is $\sigma$=52.62$T_1{^{0.06}}$. 3. Through AE test, quantitative relationship was confirmed between heating time($T_1$, sec) and total AE(N, counts) during welding, and the relation is computed as follows ; N=30413.6$e^{0.06T1}$. 4. It was confirmed that the quantitative ralationship exists between the tensile strength of the welded joints and AE cumulative counts. And the relation is computed as the following ; ${\sigma}$=16.37(ln N)- 116.4. 5. When ONZ=36500-41500 counts by $OT_1Z$=3~5sec, it was identified by experiment that the range of welded joint tensile strength is 55.6-57.7kgf/$mm^2$/ whose joint efficiency is more than 100%, and it was experimentally confirmed that the real-time nondestructive quality(strength) evaluation for the friction welded joints could be possible by acoustic emission technique.
