Removal of nutrients from domestic sewage or industrial wastewater is needed to protect surface waters from eutrophication. This research was carried out to remove the nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) from the wastewater using the iron oxide obtained from the steel industry and the natural zeolite, respectively. This research was conducted in both batch and continuous systems. The removal efficiency of the nutrients was evaluated in the batch system using the varying concentrations of zeolite and iron oxide added. The removal efficiency of N was 60% at the 8g of zeolite added. In the same condition, the removal efficiencies of N were 76% and 82% at 12g and 16g of zeolite added, respectively. Removal efficiency of P was 80% as 8g of iron oxide was added. The removal efficiency of P was correspondingly increased as the concentration of iron oxide was increased. Continuous column system was also used to evaluate the removal efficiency of N and P by the addition of zeolite and ferric oxide, respectively. Removal efficiencies of N were compared in the mixed packing, two stage, and four stage columns, respectively. The removal efficiencies (80%) of N in the separate packed columns (two and four stages) were higher than the mixed packing column (400%) after 90 hr. Whereas, the removal efficiencies of P were similar to each other in the three columns.

Objective : Percutaneous pedicle screw (PPS) fixation is a needle based procedure that requires fluoroscopic image guidance. Consequently, radiation exposure is inevitable for patients, surgeons, and operation room staff. We hypothesize that reducing the production of radiation emission will result in reduced radiation exposure for everyone in the operation room. Research was performed to evaluate reduction of radiation exposure by modifying imaging manner and mode of radiation source. Methods : A total of 170 patients (680 screws) who underwent fusion surgery with PPS fixation from September 2019 to March 2020 were analyzed in this study. Personal dosimeters (Polimaster Ltd.) were worn at the collar outside a lead apron to measure radiation exposure. Patients were assigned to four groups based on imaging manner of fluoroscopy and radiation modification (pulse mode with reduced dose) : continuous use without radiation modification (group 1, n=34), intermittent use without radiation modification (group 2, n=54), continuous use with radiation modification (group 3, n=26), and intermittent use with radiation modification (group 4, n=56). Post hoc Tukey Honest significant difference test was used for individual comparisons of radiation exposure/screw and fluoroscopic time/screw. Results : The average radiation exposure/screw was 71.45±45.75 µSv/screw for group 1, 18.77±11.51 µSv/screw for group 2, 19.58±7.00 µSv/screw for group 3, and 4.26±2.89 µSv/screw for group 4. By changing imaging manner from continuous multiple shot to intermittent single shot, 73.7% radiation reduction was achieved in the no radiation modification groups (groups 1, 2), and 78.2% radiation reduction was achieved in the radiation modification groups (groups 3, 4). Radiation source modification from continuous mode with standard dose to pulse mode with reduced dose resulted in 72.6% radiation reduction in continuous imaging groups (groups 1, 3) and 77.3% radiation reduction in intermittent imaging groups (groups 2, 4). The average radiation exposure/screw was reduced 94.1% by changing imaging manner and modifying radiation source from continuous imaging with standard fluoroscopy setting (group 1) to intermittent imaging with modified fluoroscopy setting (group 4). A total of 680 screws were reviewed postoperatively, and 99.3% (675) were evaluated as pedicle breach grade 0 (<2 mm). Conclusion : The average radiation exposure/screw for a spinal surgeon can be reduced 94.1% by changing imaging manner and modifying radiation source from real-time imaging with standard dose to intermittent imaging with modified dose. These modifications can be instantly applied to any procedure using fluoroscopic guidance and may reduce the overall radiation exposure of spine surgeons.
During system resource improvement process that based on Object-Oriented technology could be affect to the continuous system performance if lack appropriate management and control objects mechanism. This paper proposes a methodology to support continuous system performance and its stability. The adoption is based on Java Container Framework and Collections Framework for object collection. Also includes Software Engineering, Object Migration and Multiple Class Loaders mechanism accommodate to construct Continuous Migration Container (CMC). CMC is a runtime environment provides interfaces for management and control to support upgrading object process. Upgrade object methodology of CMC can be divided into two phase are object equivalence checking and object migration process. Object equivalence checking include object behavior verification and functional conformance verification before object migration process. In addition, CMC use Multiple Class Loaders mechanism to support reload effected classes instead of state transfer in migration process while upgrading object. These operations are crucial for system stability and enhancement efficiency.
The existence theorem and continuous dependence property in $"L^2"$ sense for solutions of backward stochastic differential equation (shortly BSDE) with Lipschitz coefficients were respectively established by Pardoux-Peng and Peng in [1,2], Mao and Cao generalized the Pardoux-Peng's existence and uniqueness theorem to BSDE with non-Lipschitz coefficients in [3,4]. The present paper generalizes the Peng's continuous dependence property in $"L^2"$ sense to BSDE with Mao and Cao's conditions. Furthermore, this paper investigates the continuous dependence property in "almost surely" sense for BSDE with Mao and Cao's conditions, based on the comparison with the classical mathematical expectation.
This study is to present a design method using continuous tendons in IPC girders. Present design methods use just concrete to make continuity between girders. In these design methods cracks occur in almost every joint area of girders. This means that these girders act as simple beam instead of continuous beams. The design method which is presented here uses continuous tendons between girders. In this method the cracks could be restrained. So the girders behave as continuous beams, which this method allows the span length gets longer than simple girders and also the section height could get lower. In this way the number of piers and the weight of super structure could be reduced which means the construction cost could also be reduced.
We present characterizations of the Weibull distribution by the independent property of record values that F(x) has a Weibull distribution if and only if $\frac{X_{U(m)}}{X_{U(n)}}$ and $X_{U(n)}$ or $\frac{X_{U(n)}}{X_{U(n)}{\pm}X_{U(m)}}$ and $X_{U(n)}$ are independent for $1{\leq}m.
The ion selective microelectrode (ISME) has been used for measuring the ion profile of DO, $NH_4{^+}-N$, $NO_2{^-}-N$ and $NO_3{^-}-N$ in biofilm. In this study we evaluated the detection limit and validity of ISME and applied ISME for the continuous measurement of $NH_4{^+}-N$ and $NO_3{^-}-N$ concentration in the modified Ludzack-Ettinger (MLE) process. Average detection limits of $NH_4{^+}-N$ and $NO_3{^-}-N$ ISME were $10^{-4.44}M$ and $10^{-4.62}M$, respectively. Since the ISME with $5{\sim}10{\mu}m$ of tip diameter showed a faster response time than that of $1{\sim}5{\mu}m$, the ISME with a tip diameter of $5{\sim}10{\mu}m$ was fabricated and used to make real-time ion detections. Direct monitoring of $NH_4{^+}-N$ and $NO_3{^-}-N$ concentrations in the aerobic (2) tank causes the instability of the electromotive force (EMF) for the initial 5~8 hours and also causes remarkable error values of $NH_4{^+}-N$ and $NO_3{^-}-N$ concentration. This phenomenon is caused by aeration and mixing in the reactor. Thus, the measuring chamber was newly designed for the aerobic (2) tank and then the EMF of the ISME were stabilized in less than 1 hour. Errors of $NH_4{^+}-N$ and $NO_3{^-}-N$ concentration were decreased after stabilization of the EMF. The ISME analysis were well corresponded to the results of auto analyzer and ion chromatography. Consequently, the concentration of $NH_4{^+}-N$ and $NO_3{^-}-N$ could be continuously measured for 178 hours by the ISME.
Background: Continuous caudal epidural block is a useful method in postoperative pain control after perianal surgery. But caudal epidural block has the potential of developing adverse effects such as urinary retention. The goal of this study is to evaluate the analgesic and adverse effect of bupivacaine with fentanyl through continuous caudal epidural block in relation to the concentration of bupivacaine. Methods: We divided the patients randomly into two groups. For group I(n=25) postoperative pain was controlled by continuous caudal epidural infusion at the rate of 4 ml/hr of 0.0625% bupivacaine with 3 ${\mu}g$/ml fentanyl: group II(n=14), 0.125% bupivacaine with 3 ${\mu}g$/ml fentanyl, respectively, for duration of 48 hours via epidural catheter. We evaluated pain scores with visual analogue scales at 30 mins, 6 hrs, 12 hrs, 24 hrs and 48 hrs after the operation and the incidence of adverse effect, especially urinary retention, for each group. Results: There were no significant differences in the pain score between group I and II. Urinary retention developed in 9 patients(36%) of group I, and 11 patients (78.6%) of group II. Other adverse effects such as pruritus, nausea, vomiting and respiratory depression developed in few patients. Conclusions: While performing continuous caudal epidural block with mixture of bupivacaine and fentanyl after the perianal surgery, we conclude 0.0625% bupivacaine solution is preferable to 0.125% bupivacaine solution because 0.0625% solution resulted in satisfactory analgesia with minimal incidence of adverse effect.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of continuous passive motion(CPM) and continuous active motion(CAM) on proprioception of the knee after total knee replacement(TKR). Methods: Twenty patients with TKR were randomly allocated into two groups, the CPM group(n=10) and the CAM group(n=10). All subjects were evaluated for levels of pain, passive range of motion and angle reproduction of the knee. An angle reproduction test was used to assess the proprioceptive deficit. Two types of angle reproduction test were used: a passive angle reproduction(PAR) test and an active angle reproduction(AAR) test. The relevant examinations were performed before and after intervention(on the 5th day and the 10th day). The statistical significance were calculated using a t-test and a one-way repeated ANOVA. Results: A pre-intervention significant difference was not found between the two groups. Significantly better results were before and after the intervention at 10 days, for the PAR(flexion direction) test; however, only in the CAM group. There were no significant difference, either before or after the intervention, for the AAR test(flexion and extension direction) in both group. Both groups experienced similar levels of pain and passive range of knee motion before and after the intervention. Conclusion: This study revealed that CAM was a better effect to restore position sense of the knee joint after TKR.
The paper is devoted to the study of fractional integration and differentiation on a finite interval [a, b] of the real axis in the frame of Hadamard setting. The constructions under consideration generalize the modified integration $\int_{a}^{x}(t/x)^{\mu}f(t)dt/t$ and the modified differentiation ${\delta}+{\mu}({\delta}=xD,D=d/dx)$ with real $\mu$, being taken n times. Conditions are given for such a Hadamard-type fractional integration operator to be bounded in the space $X^{p}_{c}$(a, b) of Lebesgue measurable functions f on $R_{+}=(0,{\infty})$ such that for c${\in}R=(-{\infty}{\infty})$, in particular in the space $L^{p}(0,{\infty})\;(1{\le}{\le}{\infty})$. The existence almost every where is established for the coorresponding Hadamard-type fractional derivative for a function g(x) such that $x^{p}$g(x) have $\delta$ derivatives up to order n-1 on [a, b] and ${\delta}^{n-1}[x^{\mu}$g(x)] is absolutely continuous on [a, b]. Semigroup and reciprocal properties for the above operators are proved.
