Backcross hybridization between Korean bullhead Pseudobagrus fulvidraco female and Korean bullhead P. fulvidraco $\times$ Ussurian bullhead Leiocassis ussuriensis hybrid male was performed, and early viability and karyotype of the backcross hybrids were examined along with their parental species. Mean fertilization rate (86.8%), hatching success (70.7%) and early survival rate (76.4%) of backcross hybrids were similar with those found in the maternal species, the Korean bullhead. From the chromosome analysis, modal chromosome numbers of Korean bullhead, Ussurian bullhead, their hybrid and backcross hybrid were the same as 2n = 52. However, their karyotypes were different among genotypes. The karyotype of backcross hybrid was 22 metacentric + 18 submetacentacentric + 12 acrocentric chromosomes.

To find out the optimum fertilizer levcl for Job's Tears, Seungju local cultivar, experiment with six fertilizer levels was conducted on the experimental field of forage crop in Sunchon National University from Apr. 1989 to Aug. 1990. The results obtained were summarized as follows: I .Raising nitrogen(N) application rate up to 13.5 kg/lOa increased dry matter yield linearly. However, at high N application rate, 18 kg/lOa, plants were too leafy and parts of leaves and lodging were decreased. so that dry matter yield was decreased.2. The optimum application rate of fertilizers turned out to be 13.5-6-6 kg/lOa of $P_2O_5$, $K_2O$. Content of crude protein, yield of fresh and dry matter were the highest and that of crude fiber such as NDF. ADF and cellulose were the lowest at this rate.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of recombinant bovine somatotropin (bST; Boostin-S, LG Chem) treatment with FSH (Super OV) or PMSG on superovulatory response for transvaginal ultrasound-guided oocyte retrieval (TVR) in calves. Eight Korean Native Cattle(KNC) heifer calves; 150 to 240 days old; were randomly assigned to four treatment groups: 1) FSH(75 mg); 2) FSH (75 mg) + bST(500mg) 3) PMSG(1;000 IU); 4) PMSG(1, 000 IU) + bST(500 mg). Experimental calves in group 1 (n=2) and 2(n=2) were weekly superovulated for 4 consecutive weeks with daily injection of FSH for 3days and the next day subjected to TVR session. Animals in group 3 (n=2) and 4(n=2) were weekly stimulated for 4 consecutive weeks with a single dose of 1, 000 IU PMSG. TVR was performed on 72 hours after PMSG injection. Calves in group 2 and 4 was received injection of 500 mg of bST every 10 days. At each TVR session, follicle number and size were recorded; the oocytes collected and graded according to cumulus and cytoplasm investment. Collected oocyte were determined viable oocyte according to morphological quality with granulation of oocyte and number and status of cumlulus cells. IVM and IVF were performed and assessed cleavage rate on day 3 after fertilization. A Sonovet 600(Medison, Co., Ltd) realtime ultrasound scanner with a 6.5 MHz convex transducer, fixed at the tip of 500 mm estended handle equipped with a needle guide was used in collecting oocyte. Differences between groups were analysed by chi-square test. The population of large follicle ($\geq$5 nun) and aspiration rate were not significant different among the 4 groups. But, the number of small follicles (<5 mm) and aspirated oocyte in the KNC calves treated with bST were 1.3~1.6 times higher than in KNC calves treat with FSH or PMSG alone. In conclusion, the administration of bST with FSH or PMSG at superovulation for TVR in calves was increase the nurnber of small follicle which was influenced the number of aspiratable follicle.
The yield and quality of black medick seeds(Medicago lupulina L.) produced from different fertilization and flowering position was investigated was investigated to develop the technology of seed vigor maintenance. Number of flowers and seeds, 100 seeds weight, yellow seed percentage, and large seed percentage were higher in seeds produced from stems than in those from branches. Increase of nitrogen resulted in a higher rate of yellow and large seeds as well as 160 seeds weight. Germination rate was the highest (56.9%) in the yellow seeds harvested from stems which were grown with a treatment of lower level of nitrogen and higher level of phosphorus. Malformed seedlings were frequently observed among the seedlings grown from seeds which were produced only with phosphorus.

To find out the optimum split application ratios of fertilizer nitrogen and potassium in the newly opened pasture at spring, a field experiment was conducted. Two levels of nitrogen and potassium application and three split application ratios of both fertilizer were treated by split design with 4 replications. The experiment was carried out from March, 1984 to October, 1985 on the experimental field of the Livestock Experiment Station in Suweon. The results obtained are summarized as follow: 1. Total DM yield was not showed signigicant difference among split application ratios of nitrogen and potassium. 2. DM yield of grasses was 4,854 kg/ha in heavy basal application of N and $K_2$O (160 kgN: 140 kg $K_2$O/ha), it was significantly increased by 16% than of conventional dressing (80 kg N: 70 kg $K_2$O/ha). But there was almost no difference in dry matter among N and $K_2$O split application ratios. 3. Dry matter yield of legume in heavy basal dressing was decreased by 23% than that of conventional dressing. In the methods of NK application, dry matter yield of legume was tended to decrease by 3% with equal application and 9% with heavy dressing in autumn, when compared with that of heavy dressing in spring. 4. There was no significant difference in dry matter yield of native species between different basic fertilization levels, but dry matter yield of native species was decreased by 6% with equal application and more increased by 11% with heavy dressing in autumn, when compared with the yield of heavy dressing in spring. 5. In aspect of the botanical composition, the percentage distribution of grasses was increased and the ratio of legume was greatly decreased by heavy dressing at basal fertilization. Also for good maintenance of botanical composition, it is suggested that the equal split application of N and $K_2$O was desirable.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of nitrogen fertilization amount and timing of application on protein content, dough properties, change in protein fraction, and bread loaf volume for Korean wheat cultivars, Baekkang, Joongmo2008, and Saekeumkang, for bread with a superior gluten composition during the grain filling stage. Protein content increased with an increase in the amount of N and timing of application. The SDS segmentation volume (SDSS) increased with an increase in N, but there was no effect of the timing of N application on SDSS. An increase in N amount and timing of application caused a difference in dough properties, such as water absorption, mixing time, and tolerance, among the cultivars. Soluble and insoluble polymeric and monomeric protein contents increased with an increase in N amount and timing of application the three Korean wheat cultivars. The effects of N amount and application timing on bread loaf volume (BLV) varied among the cultivars. The BLV of Saekeumkang increased regardless of the N amount and timing of application, but that of Baekkang and Joongmo2008 cultivars was reduced. However, there was a positive correlation between protein content with the addition of N fertilization and BLV. In addition, SDSS, mixing time, and protein fractions were positively correlated with BLV. Since the response of fertilizer conditions was different for each wheat cultivar, it is necessary to build a suitable fertilizing system for each of them. Additionally, since the environment is changing, such as abnormal climate during the maturing period, research is needed to establish appropriate fertilizer conditions for varieties of bread wheat.
The study was initiated to compare seasonal nutrient variations and rice (Oryza sativa L.) productivity in each of leading rice farm with conventionally managed and recommended fertilized of the large-scale environment-friendly agricultural districts in Jangheung, Suncheon, and Okcheon provinces in 2017. Suncheon rice experimental farm plots included a recommended fertilization plot that had been additionally sown hairy vetch in the fall of previous year, while Okcheon rice farm included a recommended fertilization plot applying half amount of the compost in the conventional plot. A Jangheung rice farm only practiced crop-livestock farming system. Soil pH and EC in all experimental plots were suitable levels for rice growth to cultivate. Seasonal soil pH from March to September was the highest for Suncheon rice farm, and seasonal soil EC was the highest for Jangheung rice farm. Seasonal soil T-N increased in all the plots from March to June in particular for Suncheon rice farm, and Jangheung rice farm had the lowest seasonal soil P. Seasonal soil K decreased in all the plots, with the lowest levels observed for Okcheon farm. Seasonal soil NH4+ mostly increased by up to 90 mg/kg in Jangheung rice farm from March to June. Seasonal plant T-N, P and K concentrations were the highest for Jangheung rice farm. Seasonal plant T-N and P concentrations decreased from June to September, but K leveles were fluctuated between 2.0% and 2.5%. Seasonal SPAD value was the lowest in Suncheon conventional plot. Jangheung rice farm plot produced 6,303 kg of rice per ha, which was approximately two times higher than those of Okcheon recommended plot. The seasonal T-N, P and K balance was the highest in Okcheon conventional plot, with the lowest values observed for Suncheon conventional plot. As a result, Suncheon recommended plot showed relatively low levels of seasonal macro-nutrient balance and the highest rice production, which could be the most environmentally friendly farm practiced conducted in this study.
BACKGROUND: In this study, 5 different treatments such as non-treatment, mixed expeller cake 1.0 N (standard nitrogen fertilizer), rice straw, rice straw+mixed expeller cake 0.5 N, rice straw+mixed expeller cake 1.0 N were performed over 4 cropping seasons over 2 years in order to identify the optimal application rate of mixture of rice straw and mixed expeller cake, organic source in organic cultivation of tomatoes. METHODS AND RESULTS: There was no difference in all treatments in case of 200 mg/kg in the nitrate nitrogen content in soil prior to the first cropping season test under the criteria for nitrogen nutrient based on yield of crops, cultivation without fertilizers seems possible. But in the second cropping season, no treatment and rice straw showed the reduction of yield and in the third cropping season, rice-straw+mixed expeller cake 0.5 N treatment showed the significant difference. The content of nitrate nitrogen in soil prior to cropping seasons was evaluated in 160 mg/kg and standard fertilization such as mixed expeller cake, source of nitrogen, are needed due to the deficiency of nitrogen. In terms of application of organic resources, rice straw showed the effects of improvements on physical properties of soil such as bulk density, cation exchange capacity and humus contents, but the mixed expeller cake did not show any significant differences in improvements on physical properties of soil. CONCLUSION(s): Fertilizer management in organic cultivation of tomatoes is thought to produce the reliable quantity of crops as well as keep the high quality of soils by using the optimal application rate of mixed expeller cake according to the contents of nitrate nitrogen in soil and rice straw which improves the physical properties of soil.

The early life history of Silurus microdorsalis living in Jahocheon Stream was studied by observing egg and morphological development. Live fish were captured in June 2018, then reared in a circulating filtration system under a 14L : 10D photoperiod with a water temperature of 18℃. To artificially induce spawning, females were injected with 0.5 mL of Ovaprim (Syndel, Nanaimo, BC, Canada) per kg of body weight, and males were injected with 10,000 IU/kg body weight of human chorionic gonadotropin. Approximately 15 h later, eggs were artificially inseminated by the dry method. Mature eggs were light pale yellow, which separated them from immature eggs. Fertilized eggs were 2.16±0.06 mm (n=8) in diameter and fully hatched at 181 h after fertilization. The fertilization rate was 63.1±2.2%, and 10.0±3.7% of the embryos were malformed at 18℃. The rates of development were 181 h at 18℃, 109 h at 21℃, and 76 h at 24℃. The larval size immediately after hatching was 4.64±0.22 mm (n=8), and the larvae displayed negative phototaxis at 1 day after hatching. The total larval length on 7 days after hatching was 12.47±0.53 mm, with 25~30 basal anal fin rays and 14~16 basal caudal fin rays observed. The total larval length was 14.13±0.51 mm on 9 days after hatching, and approximately 90% of the black endoplasmic reticulum was deposited on the head and body. The dorsal fin had formed, and a single basal body was observed. On 15 days after hatching, the total larval length was 16.69±0.31 mm; the number of basal caudal fin rays (18 poles) was an integer because 2 dorsal fin basal rays and 60~63 anal fin basal rays were observed. The total larval length was 28.96±1.10 mm on 50 days after hatching; the numbers of caudal fins (n=18), dorsal fins (n=3), pectoral fins (n=11), and anal fin basal rays (n=67~73) were integers.
We investigated developmental stages of egg and early life history of the Korean indigenous fish, Korean Chub Zacco koreanus from the South Han River in 2011 for phylogenetic study and conservation of this species. Eggs of Zacco koreanus were artificially fertilized by the dry method in the laboratory. The fertilized eggs were demersal, almost spherical in shape, transparent and unpigmented, with a pale yellow yolk, and no oil globule and average $3.09{\pm}0.07$ mm (n=10) in diameter. The hatching of the embryo took place in about 68 hrs after fertilization under water temperature of $20.0{\sim}23.0^{\circ}C$ and the newly hatched larvae were average $10.30{\pm}0.40$ mm (n=10) in total length (TL). Six days after hatching, the larvae grew up to $16.12{\pm}0.42$ mm (n=8) in TL and york sac absorption, mouth and anus opening were shown postflexion larvae stage. 17 days after hatching, most of fin-rays appeared at $18.21{\pm}0.38$ mm (n=6) in TL and brown spot appeared on the abdomen. 27 days after hatching, the larvae were brought up to $20.01{\pm}1.12$ mm(n=5) in TL and all their fin-rays were formed. 120 days after hatching, the larvae (juvenile) were $23.29{\pm}3.12$ mm (n=10) in TL and their body shape and color pattern were similar to the adult fish.
