In this paper, we propose a real-time bandwidth allocation scheme of multiplexed VBR MPEG video sequences over ATM network. In order to real time processing, multiplexed source is estimated by linear-prediction per measurement period. If the result CLR value were not sufficient, we proposed a overallocation method and a reallocation one to guarantee QoS. We used two kinds of sources, one is random multiplexed source made of foot different video sources, the other is the one considered the arrange of I frame in the sequence. With those sources, we analyzed the linear prediction, compared overallocation with reallocation method. As a result, in both schemes, the objected CLR value is achieved, the sufficient value COR under 10% when mp is over 1.8 sec, the utilization is over 0.9. Especially, the COR value of the reallocation scheme is better at the same condition.

Because video sequence consists of dynamic objects in nature, the object motion in video is an effective feature in describing the contents of video sequence and motion feature plays an important role in video retrieval. In this paper, we propose a method that converts motion vectors (MVs) to a uniform set on MPEG coded domain, independent of the frame type and the direction of prediction, and utilizes these normalized MVs (N-MVs) as motion descriptor to understand video contents. We describe a frame-type independent representation of the various types of frames presented in an MPEG video in which all frames can be considered equivalently, without full-decoding. In the experiments, we show that the proposed method is better than the conventional one in terms of performance.

Changes in bed forms and subsequent changes in channel roughness by changes in water discharge are discussed with the field data collected from some alluvial rivers in Korea. This study is limited to the following condition of river flow: (1) Medium size alluvial rivers with their widths of 100 m more or less, (2) Straight and prismatic river reach with no additional causes for energy loss but bed friction, (3) Lower-flow regime with Froude number less than 0.5. Major conclusions obtained from this study can be summarized as follows: (1) For the channels considered in this study, the bed roughness expressed by Manning's n increases from 0.02 for the plane beds with no sediment motion to 0.05 for the dune beds, (2) The roughness coefficient for alluvial channels should not be estimated from Strickler-type equations developed for the fixed beds, (3) The method for determining the channel roughness suggested in the present guideline for river works, River Structure Standard, appears to be lack of generality. More research based on the field data collected in Korea is needed in order to improve the existing methods.
In thi, study, we made experiments to fonn a mesa shape by meltback method with various concentration of solutions and found that unsaturated (20%) InGaAsP (1.55 !-tm) solution at a growth temperature was the most suitable for the formation of a mesa ,hape on the wafer which has an InGaAsP active layer and an InP cap layer on an n-InP substrate. It was difficult to form a proper mesa shape for the fabrication of PBH-LDs only by the meltback method; therefore, we fabricated PBH-LDs by forming the mesa shape with the meltback method after wet etching and by growing a current-blocking layer successively. As the electrical and optical charaleri, tiecs of MQW-PBH-LDs fabricated by above methods, when the cavity length was $300{\mu}m$, the threshold current was about 10 mA, internal quantum efficiency 82%, internal loss $9.2cm^{-1}$, and characteristic temperature was 65 K at $25~45^{\circ}C$ and 42 K at $45~65^{\circ}C$. /TEX>.

In this article, we designed a wide bandpass filter in order to apply microwave reflectometry for KSTAR. The proposed wide bandpass filter consists of a metamaterial structure which is to get a wide band, a lower insertion loss, and a high skirt. This is applied to VCO's output to enhance the linearity. A pass band is 18-28 GHz and the out of pass band is stopped over 20 dB. To confirm of the metamaterial, we suggest a dispersion diagram. The proposed filter in lower band and upper band of pass band is respectively a left handed and right handed characteristics. A group delay is below 0.5 ns.
To improve the efficiency of biological filters used for treating recycled wastewater of aquaculture, the conventional and advanced DynaSand Filters were tested. Applying the fluid mechanics and physical chemistry theories to wastewater treatment plant, the advanced filter focuses on detection of wastewater characteristics and automatic operation of DynaSand Filter to improve backwashing, oxygen transport, turbidity removal and continuous head loss. The Filter removes COD, ammonia, and suspended solids (SS), the major pollutants in aquaculture wastewater. The total volume of the DynaSand Filter is 70 L, while the working volume is 35 L per cycle. The removal efficiency of the advanced DynaSand Filter is 71 % for SS (as against 55 % for the conventional filter), 84 % for ammonia, 85 % for T-P, and 88 % for SRP.
The refractive index, refractive-index distribution, birefringence, and the attenuation of the plastic fiber prepared from the transparent PMMA prerod were measured in accordance with continuous heat drawing temperature($T_d$). The refractive indices were decreased with $T_d$ elevation but the refractive-index distribution from the center of fiber to periphery was higher at lower $T_d$. The steep decrease of gradient index was only at the periphery of higher $T_d$. Birefringence was observed only below $220^{\circ}C$ and ranged $5{\times}10^{-4}$ to $6{\times}10^{-4}$. No birefringence was observed above $220^{\circ}C$. An elevation of $T_d$ brought about a monotonous decrease in the attenuation of the fiber.
The extraction of taxol and baccatin III from the ground needles of Taxus cuspidata were carried out by using supercritical carbon dioxide with and without cosolvents such as ethylacetate and methanol at 300 bar and 313K. Taxol is a promising anticancer agent and baccatin III is a precursor of semisysthesis of taxol. The taxol and baccatin III contents in the extracts were determined by a HPLC. The highest yields of taxol and baccatin III could be obtained by the supercritical extraction with 3wt% methanol and ethylacetate, respectively, as cosolvents. It was also found that the selectivity of taxol and baccatin III were 0.117 and 1.245wt%, respectively, with 0.7wt% ethylacetate, which demonstrated that the selectivity of taxol and baccatin III were increased about 1.8 and 19 times than those of conventional organic solvent extraction.
It has been occurred many times that wireless sensor networks (WSNs) had congested areas because all the sensing data collected by multiple sensor nodes are delivered to one sink node. Typically, in order to control congested areas, it used to reduce the traffic by increasing the sensing period or discarding packets. However, those schemes have a disadvantage that it loses the reliability when delivering sensing data. Moreover, there are no schemes considering case of having poor quality of links between nodes in practical terms. In this paper, we suggest a scheme not to reduce the traffic but to distribute the traffic by changing routing paths depends on the traffic and the quality of links. Also, it can be seen that the reliability of delivering of the sensing data is improved with the experiments improving collection rates and shortening end-to-end delay.
