Flow Pattern Identification of Vertical Upward Two-Phase Flow Using the Attractor-Density-Map Analysis of the Void Fraction Signal in the Nonlinear Phase Space (비선형 위상공간에서의 기포 분율 신호의 끌개밀도분식을 이용한 수직 상향 이상유동의 유동패턴분류)

  • The nonlinear signals from an impedance meter for the area average void fraction in two-phase flow have been analyzed to construct a phase space trajectory. The pseudo phase space was constructed with the time delay and proper dimensions. The time delay and the embedding dimension were chosen by the average mutual information and by the false nearest neighborhood, respectively. The attractor-density-map of projected states was used to produce the two dimensional probability distribution functions (2D-PDF). Since the developed 2D-PDF showed clear distinction of the flow patterns, the flow regime identification was made with three rules and with the 2D-PDF. Also, the transition criteria of Mishima-Ishii agree well with the present results.

  • Strong surface waves among collinearly arranged patch antenna arrays pose unwanted inter element coupling particularly when high permittivity dielectric materials are used. In order to avert those waves, a novel Defected Ground Structure (DGS) is carved out systematically between two E-plane patch antenna elements. The introduced low profile μ shaped structure consequently improves impedance bandwidth and reflection coefficient by suppressing surface waves considerably. Parametric simulation results are analyzed and discussed.

  • This paper presents an approach to modeling the electrical railway accurately including the autotransformers and mutual impedance. The proposed approach can enhance the capability of analyzing the railway system, and can also be applied to a simulator for extensive stability study.

  • A new method for simplifying linear, bilateral and passive networks is presented, and the principle employed is based upon the elimination of mutual impedance and floating nodes of the metwork by introducing incidence matrix notations and bus admittance matrices. The method suggested is, particularly, suited for machine computations and applycable for reducing the calculation time in power system short-circuit and load-flow studies with good results.

  • In this paper, formulas are developed for computing induced line voltages incommunication lines due to power line failure. Formulas are expressed in terms of fault current, mutual impedance andlength of line. Computed results are shown for various power line valtages and length of line.   • This paper evaluates the influences of sex on the human emotions while coexisting with robots. When we consider human vision, robot's motion is the most important parameter which influences human emotions and must be well controlled for males and females emotions. On the other hand, when we consider human touch of sense, which is effective for cooperation transmitting mutual forces, the softness of robot is an important parameter for human emotions and must be also well controlled for males and females emotions. From these points of view, at first, we evaluate robot's motion under four different shapes of velocity pattern while handing over a cup to humans. Second, we evaluate robot's softness realized by impedance control. From the first experiment, we concluded that the conditions of choosing an adequate maximum velocity value and locating the velocity peak at the center or the first half of the duration are necessary for male's emotions. In addition, the smooth velocity decrease in the last part of the velocity pattern's duration is desired for female's emotions. From the second experiment, we concluded that females prefer lighter values of virtual impedance characteristics than males and any small increase on the heaviness of virtual impedance values is followed by the negative exponential change on human emotions.

  • In this paper, we study on the mutual characteristics between transmitting efficiency of pulse energy and wall plug consumed power of non-thermal Plasma for removing environmental pollutive gas of coal plant. To obtain high pulse energy of our system, we used MPC(magnetic pulse compressor) of power switch and tested their characteristics by adjusting electrode length of reactor and charging voltage in capacitor. As a result, we obtained consumed power of wall plug and a compressed pulse of voltage 110kV, rising time 500ns. Impedance of load on increasing electrode length was decreased, but electrical efficiency was increased. These results indicate we can control critical voltage of pulse corona and electrical efficiency of economic cost in power plant.

A Robust Fault Location Algorithm for Single Line-to-ground Fault in Double-circuit Transmission Systems

  • This paper proposes an enhanced noise robust algorithm for fault location on double-circuit transmission line for the case of single line-to-ground (SLG) fault, which uses distributed parameter line model that also considers the mutual coupling effect. The proposed algorithm requires the voltages and currents from single-terminal data only and does not require adjacent circuit current data. The fault distance can be simply determined by solving a second-order polynomial equation, which is achieved directly through the analysis of the circuit. The algorithm, which employs the faulted phase network and zero-sequence network with source impedance involved, effectively eliminates the effect of load flow and fault resistance on the accuracy of fault location. The proposed algorithm is tested using MATLAB/Simulink under different fault locations and shows high accuracy. The uncertainty of source impedance and the measurement errors are also included in the simulation and shows that the algorithm has high robustness.

A Study on Electric Circuit Modeling and Analysis for AC Railway System (전기철도 교류급전 시스템의 회로 모델링 및 해석기법 연구)

  • This paper presents an advanced approach to simulate AC electric railway system in steady-state. The algorithm consists of two parts. One is circuit modeling of elements of electric railway system, the other is an analysis on electric circuit. The modeling procedure has two steps, in the first step, proposed is the modeling method which is considered to be an internal impedance of the autotransformers and mutual impedances between the feeding systems. For the load(locomotives) modeling which is the second step, improved results are obtained as application to the proposed constant power model compared with constant impedance model. In the analysis on electric circuit, a generalized analysis method using the loop equation has been proposed and there is no limit in the number of trains between the ATs. In addition, the computer simulation by the proposed model was practiced. Simulation result seems very reasonable. It is therefore concluded that techniques for the electric circuit modeling and analysis have been established. Accuracy of the techniques will be further investigated.

  • In this paper, vortical integrated transformers using bondwires are proposed and characterized for MMIC's (Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits) In a wide range of frequencies (1∼20 GHz), where full-wave analysis by the FEM (Finite Element Method) was adopted. The electrical characteristics of the proposed transformers are compared with those of the spiral transformer. We extracted mutual inductances from S -parameters. The vertical transformers using bondwires have not only low insertion loss but also reduce parasitic capacitances and dielectric loss due to their separation from substrates. It can be fabricated easily by used of the modern automatic wirebonding technology. It is expected that the proposed transformers are to improve the performance of MMIC's applied to impedance matching, and phase shifting circuits.
