  • Aim(s): This study aims to explore the relationship between multicultural awareness, multicultural acceptance and sensitivity of nursing students in the midst of rapid changes in multiculturalism, and to explore the direction for improving multicultural awareness as health care workers in the future. A survey was conducted among 135 nursing students from two universities in one region, and 108 students, excluding random responses and dropouts, were the final subjects for analysis. For data analysis, frequency analysis, correlation analysis, reliability analysis and mediation effects were tested using SPSS and process Macros. The results confirmed a statistically significant relationship between multicultural awareness and multicultural acceptance (r=.572, p<.001). The relationship between mutual cultural sensitivity, multicultural acceptance (r=.650, p<.001) and multicultural awareness (r=.456, p<.001) also showed a significant positive correlation. In addition, the effect of mutual cultural sensitivity was confirmed in the relationship between multicultural awareness and multicultural acceptance. As a result, in the relationship between multicultural awareness and multicultural acceptability, intercultural sensitivity ranged from 0.188 to 0.554, and the 95% confidence interval did not include 0; thus, indirect effect was statistically significant. Considering these results, it was confirmed that it is important to increase multicultural awareness and intercultural sensitivity in order to increase multicultural acceptance.

  • This paper examines the existence of the fund performance persistence and the smart money effect in Korean stock market and tests the flow-induced price pressure (FIPP) hypothesis, that is, fund flows affect individual stock returns and mutual fund performance. This paper also tests whether the FIPP effect can cause the performance persistence using the monthly returns and stock holdings data of 2,702 Korean mutual funds from January 2002 to June 2008. The empirical results indicate that the performance persistence exists significantly for a long time but the smart money effect does not. The hedge portfolio constructed by buying funds with the highest past 12 months performance and selling funds with the lowest past 12 months performance earns 0.11%~1.05% monthly abnormal returns, on average, in 3 years from portfolio formation month, but the hedge portfolio constructed by buying funds with the highest past net fund inflows and selling funds with the lowest past net fund inflows cannot earn positive monthly abnormal returns and the size of negative abnormal returns of the portfolio increase as time goes on. We find the evidence that the FIPP hypothesis is significantly supported. We first estimate the FIPP measure for each individual stock using the trading volume resulting from past fund flows and then construct the hedge portfolio by buying stocks with the highest FIPP measure and selling stocks with the lowest FIPP measure. That portfolio earns significantly positive abnormal return, 1.01% at only portfolio formation month and cannot earn significant abnormal returns after formation month. But, the FIPP effect cannot cause the performance persistence because, within the same FIPP measure group, funds with higher past performance still earn higher monthly abnormal returns than those with lower past performance by 0.08%~0.77%, on average, in 2 years. These results imply that the main cause of the performance persistence in Korean stock market is the difference of fund managers' ability rather than the FIPP effect.

  • This study was carried out to prove the anti-allergic effect of SPS-GM, which is gained by controlled Cytokines making all the difference to Th2 cell development. The results were obtained as follows : 1. From the SPS-GM treatment about BMC cell, in case of the IL-4, an important factor of the Th2 cell development, SPS-GM didn't show considerable effect. 2. The INF-${\gammer}$, mutual Cytokines of IL-4, was increased more than twice. 3. Histamine from the Master cell and Nitric oxide from indisposition response were a little decreased. According to the above results, it is suggested that SPS-GM has anti-allergic effect.

  • The main purpose of this paper is to setup a integrated model and verify the integrated model for a customer loyalty in the internet shopping environments. The results of a structural equation model (SEM) using AMOS and LISREL include: First, hypothesis that Internet environment characteristics in outside factors has a positive effect on satisfaction, trust and commitment is partially supported. However, mutual communication to satisfaction, community to commitment and open-ubiquity to trust did not reveal a positive effect. Second, hypothesis that Internet showing mall environment has a positive effect on satisfaction is partially supported. However, transaction to commitment and transaction to trust did not reveal a positive effect. Third, hypothesis that relational benefits has a positive effect on both satisfaction and commitment is partially supported. However, confident honest to commitment and economic honest to trust did not reveal a positive effect. Forth, satisfaction trust and commitment have a strong effect upon loyalty. Fifth, satisfaction has a positive effect on trust and commitment. However, trust did not show a positive effect on commitment. Outside factors(Internet environment characteristics, showing mall characteristics, and relational benefit) partially revealed a positive effect on satisfaction trust, and commitment. Mediating variables such as satisfaction, trust, and commitment again have positive effect on loyalty. But, the relationship for trust to commitment did not reveal the significant effect in this study while other studies revealed significant effect.

  • Purpose - This study analyzes the effect of the authorized economic operator-mutual recognition arrangement (AEO-MRA) on the performance of Korean exporters and importers. The effect of the import-export companies' characteristics, such as annual sales, the number of foreign markets, and overseas experience, on the AEO-MRA is deduced; the relationship between this effect and firm performance is analyzed. Design/methodology - An empirical research model was constructed and analyzed using structural equation modeling. The effect of AEO-MRA on logistics and operational performance was derived from the aforementioned characteristics as leading factors of the AEO-MRA. The regulatory influence of cooperation with logistics companies was analyzed in the AEO-MRA effect on logistics performance. Thus, 172 valid samples were obtained from import-export companies certified by the AEO-MRA. Findings - Among the aforementioned characteristics, only "annual sales" has a positive effect on the AEO-MRA, whose effect enhances logistics and operational performances. The AEO-MRA effect did not directly affect operational performance. Owing to the adjustment effect analysis, the AEO-MRA effect and logistics performance relationship is strengthened if the cooperative relationship with the logistics company is higher than a certain level. If this cooperation falls below a certain level, the AEO-MRA effect on logistics performance reduces. Thus, logistics cooperation is an important factor in the AEO-MRA effect and logistics performance relationship. Originality/value - Hinging on the resource-based theory and relational viewpoint, an empirical model that explains the relationship between the AEO-MRA effect and firm performance is established.

  • Fluorescence quenching of l,4-bis [2-(2-methylphenyl) ethenyl]-benzene (Bis-MSB) by carbon tetrachloride in five different solvents namely hexane, cyclohexane, toluene, benzene and dioxane has been carried out at room temperature with a view to understand the quenching mechanisms. The Stern-Volmer plot has been found to be non-linear with a positive deviation for all the solvents studied. In order to interpret these results we have invoked the Ground state complex and Sphere of action static quenching models. Using these models various rate parameters have been determined. The magnitudes of these parameters imply that sphere of action static quenching model agrees well with the experimental results. Hence the positive deviation in the Stem-Volmer plots is attributed to the static and dynamic quenching. Further, with the use of Finite Sink approximation model, it was possible to check whether these bimolecular reactions as diffusion limited and to estimate independently distance parameter R' and mutual diffusion coefficient D. Finally an effort has been made to correlate the values of R'and D with the values of the encounter distance R and the mutual diffusion coefficient D determined using the Edwardis empirical relation and Stokes-Einstein relation.

  • The calculation method of induction voltage is abbreviately by the Ohm's law including Carson-Pollaczek's equation for mutual inductance estimation and various shielding effect coefficients. This method is mainly scoped to 60㎐. power source and the inducing/induced object positioned on the air, and the dimension of shielding material is not thoroughly reflected. In this paper, more general method of calculation is scrutinized through electromagnetic wave propagation principles. Electromagnetic force as a voltage in the spot generating from the source is evaluated according to the position of the source and object, especially their relationship with earth surface as boundary line and independent to source propagation frequency. And this method intends to consider the material specification of each object in the induction field.

  • The degree of mutual understanding between nursing students and instructors regarding simulation-based education remains unknown. The purpose of this study was to identify the subjectivity of nursing students and instructors about simulation-based learning, and was intended to expand the mutual understand by employing the co-orientation model. Q-methodology was used to identify the perspectives of 46 nursing students and 38 instructors. Perception types found among students in relation to simulation-based learning were developmental training seekers, instructor-dependent seekers, and learning achievement seekers. The instructors estimated the student perception types as passive and dependent, positive commitment, demanding role as facilitators, and psychological burden. Perception types found among instructors included nursing capacity enhancement seekers, self-reflection seekers, and reality seekers. The students classified the instructors' perception types as nursing competency seekers, learning reinforcement seekers, and debriefing-oriented seekers. As a result of the analysis of these relations in the co-orientation model, instructors identified psychological burden and passive and dependent cognitive frameworks among students; however, these were not reported in the students' perspectives. Likewise, the reality seekers type found among the perception types of instructors was not identified by the students. These findings can help develop and implement simulation-based curricula aimed at maximizing the learning effect of nursing students.
