  • The realization of Wireless Multimedia Sensor Networks (WMSNs) has been fostered by the availability of low cost and low power CMOS devices. However, the transmission of bulk video data requires adequate bandwidth, which cannot be promised by single path communication on an intrinsically low resourced sensor network. Moreover, the distortion or artifacts in the video data and the adherence to delay threshold adds to the challenge. In this paper, we propose a two stage Quality of Service (QoS) guaranteeing scheme called Prioritized Multipath WMSN (PMW) for transmitting H.264 encoded video. Multipath selection based on QoS metrics is done in the first stage, while the second stage further prioritizes the paths for sending H.264 encoded video frames on the best available path. PMW uses two composite metrics that are comprised of hop-count, path energy, BER, and end-to-end delay. A color-coded assisted network maintenance and failure recovery scheme has also been proposed using (a) smart greedy mode, (b) walking back mode, and (c) path switchover. Moreover, feedback controlled adaptive video encoding can smartly tune the encoding parameters based on the perceived video quality. Computer simulation using OPNET validates that the proposed scheme significantly outperforms the conventional approaches on human eye perception and delay.

  • Environmental monitoring applications measure temporature, humidity, and pollution degrees of large areas periodically and are essential for ubiquitous society. In this paper, we propose a sensor network MAC protocol that is applicable to environmental monitoring applications. The proposing MAC protocol has scalability by constructing multiple groups of sensor nodes as in SMAC protocol. Differently from SMAC protocol, however, ours have hierarchical structure between adjacent groups. Data transmission schedules are efficient since lower groups are synchronized to higher groups. Thus. the end-to-end delays and energy consumption can be reduced due to sequential transmission schedules. But since the nodes within the same group are synchronized to themselves. they have good adaptability and scalability compared to existing hierarchical approaches such as DMAC. We show by simulations that the proposing MAC protocol is superior to SMAC for environmental monitoring applications.

  • In the most IPS (Indoor Positioning System), it is available to specify the user's movement by sending a specific signal from a tag such as a beacon to multiple receivers. This method is very efficiently used in places where the number of people is limited. On the other hand, in large commercial facilities, it is nearly difficult to apply the existing IPS method because it is necessary to attach a tag to each customer. In this paper, we propose a system that uses an external sensor grid to identify people's movement without using tags. Each sensor node uses both an ultrasonic sensor and an infrared sensor to monitor people's movements and sends collected data to the main server through wireless transmission for easy system maintenance. The operation was verified using the FPGA board, and we designed a VLSI circuit in 180nm process.

  • MAC protocol for WBAN performs CSMA/CA(:Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Avoidance)algorithm that handles traffic which occurs in emergency with top priority in order to deal with variable data of sensor node for medicine. Emergency message that node sends undergoes collision and delay of transmission by retransmission of emergency message and waste of energy by retransmission. This paper suggests algorithm that minimizes loss of frame caused by collision and applies different backoff parameters by setting order of priority between MAC instruction frame and data frame in CSMA/CA algorithm case which applies order of priority queuing to improve aforementioned problem. According to performance evaluation, it has been found that using suggested MAC protocol showed lower collision probability, higher packet transmission processing ratio and lower packet loss compared with using IEEE 802.15.6.

  • Most online monitoring systems of running currently based on the wired network and local area wireless network generate an increase of administrative costs such as synchronization of data protocol conversion, flexible operation of measurement devices and maintenance. To solve this problem, this paper proposes the SMS data transmission protocol which allows multiple data collecting device to manage effectively including implementation method of cdma-based environmental information monitoring system. Also this paper shows operational safety of the proposed protocol and analyzes efficiency of data transfer and operating using SMS.

  • In this paper, we propose a system which can perceive status of semiconductor equipment and evaluate its performance. The proposed system acquires the information such acceleration, pressure, temperature and gas sensors in the surrounding semiconductor equipment. After acquiring information, it is sent to server through multi hop transmission. The transmitted data generates 3 steps alarm using context-aware algorithm of unit or multiple event. From the experiment's result of the proposed system, we confirm that the reliability and efficiency of information is more improved about 80% than a system that doesn't use context-aware algorithm. Moreover, this system can be effective status monitoring of semiconductor equipment because lots of client nodes acquire surrounding information.

  • In the application development process is an important task to improve the quality of the data is the principal means for achieving the functional requirements of the wireless sensor network applications because it is the data obtained in the real world. It should be possible to meet the requirements for the quality improvement to those detailed for improving the quality in a short period of time for developing a prototype of an application and low cost. However, development of the existing methods can not be satisfied simultaneously in order to use a consistent abstraction because antinomical relation between ability of description and ease of description. In this paper, we propose a meta-data designed to support the improvement of data quality through abstract modeling language is also used in combination to a multiple of the other.

  • WPAN(Wireless Personal Area Network) have many advantages such as using low power and cheap price, small size. So it is recently increasing application range such as personal portable device, home network and sensor network so and on. IEEE 802.15.3 basically has the point to point or peer to peer UM(Usage Model). But using devises that need data transmission is increasing in the house and office. Therefor UM of point to multipoint is proposed. In this paper, I proposed Multicast ACK mechanism on the point to multipoint UM. So it is able to transfer data to multiple devices as this Multicast transfer method at a time. Thus, throughput performance is improved. But the problem that increases data transfer delay is appeared because of adding Multicast ACK traffic. We compared the performance between standard and proposed mechanism through a numerical analysis.

  • As numerous devices are connected through a wireless network, there exist many studies conducted to efficiently connect the devices. While earlier studies often use clustering for efficient device management, there is a load-intensive cluster node which may lead the entire network to be unstable. In order to solve this problem, we propose a scheduling model for centralized unequal chain clustering for efficient management of sensor nodes. For the cluster configuration, this study is based on the cluster head range and the distance to the base station(BS). The main vector projection technique is used to construct clustering with concentricity where the positions of the base stations are not the same. We utilize a multiple radio access interface, multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO), for data transmission. Experiments show that cluster head energy consumption is reduced and network lifetime is improved.
