Records of 71 consecutive patients who had received multiple valve replacement were reviewed[34male,37female,mean age 40.5$\pm$11.2 <14-63> . The early death rate was 2.8%[2/71 . A completed follow-up rate of 95.7% was accomplished in these 69 patients who left hospital[mean 42.5 $\pm$29.5 patients-years . Five of these patients died. The late death rate was 7.2%. Four patients experienced anticoagulant-related hemorrhage[all were minor . One patient had a thromboembolic episode[permanent ,and 2 had late prosthetic valve endocarditis. There was no clinical evidence of hemolysis and structural failure of valves used. Of those patients who survived,NYHA functional class improved significantly[from 87.2% class III & IV before to 95.8% class I & II after . Linearized rates for thromboembolism and anticoagulant-related hemorrhage, and for prosthetic valve endocarditis were 0.67%/100 patient-years,2.95%/100 patient-years,1.34%/100 patient-years, respectively. The actuarial estimates of incidence free of all complications and valve-related deaths were 92.2%/patient-years.Despites the advanced heart disease involving two or more native valves, the patients who had multiple valve replacement had very good results, over a 9-year period.
The purpose of the present research was to investigate developmental trends in children's class-inclusion performance and to examine the influence of task characteristics(provision or deprivation of quantitative information and perceptual information) on a class-inclusion task. The subjects of this study were 96 children, 12boys and 12girls at each age level. 5, 6. 7 and 8 years of age. The experimental materials consisted of 12 stimulus boards which were constructed on the basis of picture cards used by Judd and Mervis(1979) and Lane and Hodkin(1985). The class-inclusion tasks were individually administered by the researcher. The data were analyzed by the statistical methods of t-test, one-way ANOVA and Duncan multiple range test. The results showed that (1) There were significant age differences in children's class-inclusion performance. That is, children's performance scores on the class-inclusion task increased with age.: (2) There were significant task characteristics differences in children's class-inclusion performance. That is, children performed better on the deprivation of quantitative information task than on the provision of quantitative information task.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences of conjugal power type and conjugal violence level according to social class. This study was also intended to examine the relations between conjugal power type and conjugal violence level. The subjects of this study were 492 high school students in Seoul. Conjugal power was measured with used to measure the conjugal violence level. For the statistical analysis of data, x2-test, Pearson's r, F-test, Duncan's Multiple Range Test and Cronbach's α for reliability were performed. The major results of this study were summarized as follows; 1. There were significant differences according to social class in conjugal power type: The higher social class of the family, the more Syncratic Type were found. And the lower social class of the family, the more Wife Dominant Type were found. 2. There were significant differences according to social class in conjugla violence level: Couples of the lowest class appeared to be more verbal aggression and physical violence. 3. The most severe Husband-to-Wife verbal aggression and physical violence were appeared when the conjugal power type is either Husband Dominant Type or Wife Dominant Type.
Object-oriented databases (OODBs) have been adopted for managing non-standard applications such as computer-aided design (CAD), office document management and many multimedia applications. One of the major characteristics of OODBs is class hierarchy where a subclass is allowed to inherit the definitions defined on its superclasses. In this paper, I present the evaluation metrics for class hierarchy quality in OODBs. These metrics are developed to determine if a concurrency control scheme can achieve good performance or not on a given class hierarchy. I first discuss the existing concurrency control schemes for OODBs. Then I provide evaluation metrics based on structural information and access frequency information in class hierarchies. In order to discuss significance of the proposed performance metrics, an analytical model is developed. Analysis results show that the performance metrics are important factor in concurrency control performance. I consider both single inheritance and multiple inheritance. The proposed metrics can be used to provide guidelines on how to design class hierarchy of an OODB for maximizing the performance of concurrency control technique.
Object-oriented databases (OODBs) canbe used for many non-traditional database application areas such as computer-aided design, etc. Usually those application areas require advanced modeling power for expressing complicated relationships among data sets. OODBs have more distinguished features than the traditional relational database systems. One of the distinguished characteristics of OODBs is class hierarchy (also called inheritance hierarchy). A class hierarchy in an OODB means that a class can hand down the definitions of the class to the subclass of the class. In other words, a class is allowed to inherit the definitions of the class from the superclass. In this paper, we present performance evaluation metrics for class hierarchy in OODBs from a concurrency control perspective. The proposed performance metrics are developed to determine which concurrency control scheme in OODBs can be used for a given class hierarchy. In this study, in order to develop performance metrics, we use class hierarchy structure (both of single inheritance and multiple inheritance), and data access frequency for each class. The proposed performance metrics will be also used to compare performance evaluation for various concurrency control techniques.
The objective of this study, which applies the multiple-disciplinary approach to the developmental characteristics of children, is to study and develop a class model that can be applied to actual kindergarten classes in rural area. For this purpose, this study proposes teaching and learning methodologies for children based on English children's tales to help make the English education of children more effective and efficient. Based on the findings, the following suggestions should be considered for improving the English-education class model for kindergartners for rural areas: First, various activities based on the multiple-intelligence approach are important methods of children-oriented education advanced by the Sixth Children's Curriculum, helping children grow their independence and creativity. Second, various activities developed by this study on the basis of the multiple-intelligence approach to promote children's reading, listening, speaking, and writing abilities helped children improve their linguistic capacities, improve creativity, and remain motivated, which was reinforced by the differences found between the test group and the control group.
The purpose of this study was to examine mother's child rearing practices by mothers of their first-born child as a function of child's sex, temperament, and social class and of mother's marital satisfaction. The subjects were 158 mothers of 3-year-old first-born children in Seoul. Block (1984)'s CRPR, Buss and Plomin (1975)'s EAS, and Roach et al.'s MSS (1981) were used to measure maternal child rearing practices, children's temperament, and mother's marital satisfaction, respectively. The statistical methods for data analysis included t-test, ANOVA, Duncan's multiple range test, multiple regression. The major findings showed there were no sex of child differences in child rearing practices. Social class differences were found in "encouragement of independence", "enjoyment of child" and "openness to experience" in maternal child rearing practices. There were differences in maternal child rearing practices by child's temperament and mother's marital satisfaction. In a multiple regression analysis, it was found that the most significant predictor of maternal child rearing practices was mother's marital satisfaction.
In this paper, a class of initial value problem of hyperbolic equations for fourth order with multiple characteristics is considered and can be solved analytically by variable transforms. Also, similar to Goursat's problem we present a direct integration technique for finding a new solutions of an inhomogeneous hyperbolic equation of fourth order such that the attached conditions are given on its multiple characteristics.
The purpose of this study was to classify the attributes of brand image criteria of women's shoes to compose the perceptual map of the brand by factor analysis and to examine the differences in brand preferences and purchase methods of shoes according to demographic variables. 10 brand names were selected for the study Samples were 271 women in Seoul Korea :143 were college students and 128 were career women. The data were analyzed using factor analy-sis multiple regression analysis one-way ANOVA Duncan's multiple range test x2-test t-test. The results of the study were the -followings: 1. Four segments of brand image attributes of women's shoes derived by factor analysis: F. 1. 'utility' F.2'appearance' ; F. 3 'sales promotion' ; F.4 'financial factor'. 2. As the result of draw up the perceptual map 'landrover' was high in utility but low in appearance 'Misope' and 'Mook' was low in utility but high in appearance. 'Fashion Leader' was in the nearest ideal direction to the utility and appearance. 3. The preference level of the shoes brand name was in order of the 'Fashion Leader'. 'Mook' and 'Soda' But consumers possessed 'Landrover' the most 4. There were significant differences among preference level of ' Landrover' and 'Misope' according to the social class. There were sig-nificant differences among possession level of 'Misope' and 'Soda' according to the social class 5. the middle and lower class consumers used an exchange ticket during the bargain sales more than upper class when they pur-chase shoes.
