  • Cognitive Radio (CR) technology is proposed for using the unused spectrum band efficiently because of the spectrum scarcity problems. Spectrum sensing is one of the most challenging issues in cognitive radio system. In this paper, we focus on the signal detection of WiBro system band. As most of the modulated signals can be treated as cyclostationary random process, we can detect the signal of the OFDM signals in WiBro system. OFDM symbols using WiBro system have several pilot subcarriers and periodic pilots have cyclostationary characteristic. To improve of the detection performance, we get diversity gain using multiple antennas.

  • We demonstrate binary spectral phase coded waveform discrimination at 10 GHz for narrow band optical code-division multiple-access (NB-OCDMA) via direct electrical detection without using any optical hard-limiter. Only 9 phase-locked, 10 GHz spaced, spectral lines within a 100 GHz spectral window are used for the phase coding. Considerably high contrast ratio of 5 between signal and multiuser access interference noise can be achieved for $4{\times}10\;G\;pulse/sec$ timing coordinated OCDMA at a simple electrical receiver with 50 GHz bandwidth.

  • Since the digital TV signal band is very wide ($54{\sim}806MHz$), the VCO used in the frequency synthesizer must also have a wide frequency tuning range. Multiple LC VCOs have been used to cover such wide frequency band. However, the chip area increases due to the increased number of integrated inductors. A general method for achieving both reduced VCO gain(Kvco) and wide frequency band is to use the switched-capacitor bank LC VCO. In this paper, a scheme is proposed to cover the full band using only one VCO. The RF VCO block designed using a 0.18um CMOS process consists of a wideband LC VCO with reduced variation of VCO gain and frequency steps. Buffers, divide-by-2 circuits and control logics the simulation results show that the designed circuit has a phase noise at 100kHz better than -106dBc/Hz throughout the signal band and consumes $9.5{\sim}13mA$ from a 1.8V supply.

  • In this paper, an artificial stereo extension method that creates stereophonic sound from a mono sound source is proposed. The proposed method first trains deep neural networks (DNNs) that model the nonlinear relationship between the dominant and residual signals of the stereo channel. In the training stage, the band-wise log spectral magnitude and unwrapped phase of both the dominant and residual signals are utilized to model the nonlinearities of each sub-band through deep architecture. From that point, stereo extension is conducted by estimating the residual signal that corresponds to the input mono channel signal with the trained DNN model in a sub-band domain. The performance of the proposed method was evaluated using a log spectral distortion (LSD) measure and multiple stimuli with a hidden reference and anchor (MUSHRA) test. The results showed that the proposed method provided a lower LSD and higher MUSHRA score than conventional methods that use hidden Markov models and DNN with full-band processing.

  • In this paper, a design method for a dual-band compact slot antenna using SRR(split-ring resonator) conductor is studied. The SRR conductor is loaded inside of a rectangular slot of the proposed antenna for dual-band operation. Final design parameters are obtained by analyzing the effects of the gap between the SRR conductor and slot, and the width of the SRR conductor on the input reflection coefficient and gain characteristics. A prototype of the proposed dual-band slot antenna operating at 2.45 GHz WLAN band and 3.40-5.35 GHz band is designed on an FR4 substrate with a dimension of 30 mm by 30 mm.

  • Electronic warfare systems are needed to be advantageous in the modern war. Many radar threat signals with various frequency spectrums and complicated techniques exist. For detecting the threats, a receiver with wide and narrow-band digital processing is needed. To process a wide-band searching mode, a polyphase filter bank has become the architecture of choice to efficiently detect threats. A polyphase N-path filter aligns the re-sampled time series in each path, and a discrete Fourier transform aligns phase and separates the sub-channel baseband aliases. Multiple threats and CW are detected or rejected when the signals are received in different sub-channels. And also, to process a narrow-band precision mode, a direct down converter is needed to reduce aliasing by using a decimation filter. These digital logics are designed in a FPGA. This paper shows how to design and develop a wide and narrow-band digital receiver that is capable to detect the threats.

  • In this paper, a multiple U-shaped slot antenna on 5㎓ band is designed, fabricated, and measured. The prototype consists of a U-shaped slot and two Invert U-shaped slot. To obtain wide bandwidth, the foam layer is inserted between ground plane and substrate. After various parameters, length, width, position of U-shaped slot horizontal, interval length between two invert U-shaped slot, feeding position and airgap width, optimized, a multiple U-shaped slot antenna is fabricated and measured. The measured results of the antenna are compared with its simulated results. A 2:1 VSWR impedance bandwidth of 20.4% is achiedved by employing this technique. The gain is about 5.5㏈i. The experimental far-field patterns are stable across the pass band.

  • Research about the mode of MIMO that can get a coding benefit at the same time with a diversity benefit using a multiple antenna at the fading channel for a high-speed data transmission have been processed actively But the analysis about the interference of UWB system comes not to consist yet. So this paper analyzed the performance of the interference of UWB system to SFBC-OFDM and SFTC-OFDM system that applied a space block code which has a space diversity characteristic to OFDM system at MIMO channel. We shelved the performance that SFTC-OFDM system is robuster than SFBC-OFDM system under MB-OFDM UWB Interference.

  • In this paper, we evaluate the performance of PN (Pseudo Noise) code based time hopping sequences for M-ary UWB (Ultra Wide Band) multiple access systems using the equicorrelated signal sets. In particular, we consider two different types of M-ary UWB systems in UWB indoor wireless multipath channels: The first type of the systems (System #1) has identical symbol transmission rate regardless of the number of symbols M since the length of signal pulse train is fixed while M increases, and the second type of the systems (System #2) has the same bit transmission rate regardless of M since the length of signal pulse train is extended according to the increase of M. We compare the proposed systems with those using the ideal random time hopping sequence in terms of the symbol error rate performance. Simulation results show that the PN code based time hopping sequence achieves quite good performance which is favorably comparable to that of the ideal random sequence. Moreover, as M increases, we observe that System #2 shows better robustness against multiple access interference than System # 1.
