  • In this paper, the new cooperative communication techniques is proposed for multi-input multi-output(MIMO)-orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system using the relay with multiple antenna. As the MIMO channel is formed by space time coding at the MS(mobile station)-RS(relay station) and RS-BS(base station), we can get the cooperative diversity and MIMO diversity gain simultaneously. Therefore, the performance of MIMO-OFDM system using the relay with multiple-antennas is very improved. And the simple power allocation technique is Proposed for the transmitting power of the mobile station and the relay.

  • To improve the performance of mobile communication systems, beamforming technology is being considered. However, the number of antenna should be more than four to implement beamforming technology. Therefore, the existing 2-Tx RU (radio unit) for $2{\times}2$ MIMO (multiple input multiple output) should be replaced by 4-Tx RU for beamforming function. In this paper, we propose a new method to implement 4-Tx beamforming RU reusing the existing 2-Tx RU. We think that our method is very useful from the viewpoint of cost and environment because the existing 2-Tx RUs can be reused.

  • Direction-finding equipment with multiple antennas are used to estimate the direction of a signal emitted by a source; they can be used to rescue a victim or locate a specified source. During direction finding, reflection waves are present and signal distortion is observed depending on the external shape and material of a system that incorporates the direction-finding equipment and multiple antennas. Therefore, to accurately estimate the azimuth of the signal source and develop the direction-finding equipment, a calibration should be performed to reflect the influence of the antenna arrangement(layout) and system contour. In this paper, we describe an in-flight calibration method to develop direction-finding equipment to locate communication signals using an aviation system, and we analyze the direction-finding performance when applying phase calibration data obtained through the in-flight calibration.

  • Space-time code is a good solution to get transmit diversity. During the last years a number of space-time block codes have been proposed for use in multiple transmit antenna systems. This code, however, was presented only for the special case of the certain numbers of transmit antennas and the certain modulation schemes. and designed under the assumption that the transmitter has no knowledge about the channel. In this work, on the other hand, we consider the case when the transmitter has partial, but not perfect knowledge about the channel. This system can have full diversity for arbitrary number of the transmit antennas with a little bits of feedback.

  • 이동통신 시스템은 점차 고품질 및 고속의 멀티미디어 서비스를 제공하는 방향으로 가고 있다. 이동통신시스템의 성능과 용량은 셀 혹은 섹터에서 발생되는 간섭신호와 다중경로 페이딩, 도플러와 같은 무선 채널 특성에 의해 제한된다. 이러한 성능 저하 요소에 대응하여 전체 시스템 성능 및 용량을 늘릴 수 있는 기술이 다중안테나기술이다. 다중안테나기술은 크게 빔형성기술, 다이버시티기술, 그리고 멀티플렉싱기술로 분류된다. 본 고에서는 이들에 대한 기본개념을 소개하고, 이동통신시스템별로(3GPP, 3GPP2, IEEE802 계열) 이들에 대한 적용방식 및 연구개발 동향을 살펴본다.

  • In this paper, a channel estimation based on the time-domain windowing and its imperfectness in OFDM-based multiple-antenna transmission systems are analyzed with an emphasis on a preamble design for multi-channel separation, From the computer simulation results, the OFDM-CDMA system applying a space-time-frequency diversity with a full-rate full diversity code can give the diversity of D = 4 and D = 8 for both multi-user cases of maximum user and half user capacities, respectively

  • The sum-rate capacity of multi-antenna broadcast channels recently has attracted much research interests. However, those effort mainly has focused on a single-cell system. In this paper, we consider a multi-cell system where a transmitter uses zero-forcing beamforming with multiple antennas. We select a linear zero-forcing weight that maximizes the sum-rate when intercell interference exists. With numerical investigation, we will show the sum-rate gain achieved by the proposed method gets larger when the number of interfering cells increases.

  • This paper basically considers a space-division multiple-access (SDMA) systems where all nodes including the base station and mobile stations are equipped with equal number of antennas. In the SDMA system, for each transmit antenna, the user corresponding to the largest signal-to-interference-plus-noise (SINR) is selected to be supported. In this environment with the minimum mean squared error receivers, we analyze the average throughput using the previous works.

  • This paper studies the performance of multiuser data networks with transmit diversity under correlated fading channels. Previous work shows that correlated fading reduces the link performance of multiple antenna systems, but how correlated fading affects the throughput of multiuser data networks is still unknown since the throughput depends not only on the link performance but also on the multiuser diversity. We derive the throughput of the multiuser data networks with various transmit diversity schemes under correlated fading channels. The impact of correlated fading on the throughput is investigated. Analytical and simulation results show that, although correlated fading is harmful for link performance, it increases the throughput of the multiuser data networks if the transmit scheme is appropriately selected.

Performance Enhancement of Spread Spectrum LEO Satellite communication System Using Constant Modulus Antenna Array

  • The structure of MMSE receiver front-ended by CMA(Constant Modulus Array) array working in CDMA forward link which is applicable to LEO spread spectrum satellite communication system is proposed. By using the despreaded pilot signal of forward link as a reference signal, the CMA array can capture multi-path signals securely even in severely faded LEO satellite channel. The remaining MAI (Multiple Access Interference) is cancelled by the cascaded MMSE receiver. Besides theoretical development, through relevant computer simulation, it is proved that the proposed system shows much better BER performance than any other possible candidate systems. As a spatio-temporal receiver mounted on a mobile vehicle, the proposed system also reduces implemental cost and complexity by adopting the simplest algorithm for its spatial and temporal domain processing.
