In many medical image devices, dc noise often prevents normal diagnosis. In wireless capsule endoscopy systems, multipath fading through indoor wireless links induces inter-symbol interference (ISI) and indoor electric devices generate impulsive noise in the received signal. Moreover, dc noise, ISI, and impulsive noise are also found in optical fiber communication that can be used in remote medical diagnosis. In this paper, a blind signal processing method based on the biased probability density functions of constant modulus error that is robust to those problems that can cause error propagation in decision feedback (DF) methods is presented. Based on this property of robustness to error propagation, a DF version of the method is proposed. In the simulation for the impulse response of optical fiber channels having slowly varying dc noise and impulsive noise, the proposed DF method yields a performance enhancement of approximately 10 dB in mean squared error over its linear counterpart.
In this paper, broadband underwater propagation channel modeling based on eigenray analysis is discussed. Underwater channels are often formulated in frequency domain time-harmonic signals, which are impractical for simulating broadband signals in time domain. In this regard, time domain modeling of the underwater propagation channel is required for the simulation of broadband signals, for which the eigenray analysis based on ray tracing, resulting in multipath propagation delays in time-domain, is used in this paper. For discrete time system application, the phase, frequency-dependent loss and non-integer sample delays for each eigenray, are approximated by the finite impulse response of the broadband propagation channel.
There are several factors that disturb an Ultra-Wideband (UWB) radio propagation in an indoor environment such as path loss, shadowing and multipath fading. These factors directly affect the quality of the received signal. In this paper, we investigated the influence of the human body shadowing on UWB propagation based on measured wireless channel in an anechoic chamber. The characteristics of the UWB channel including the transmitter and the receiver antenna effects are acquired over the frequency bandwidth of 3${\sim}$11 GHz. The major factors such as the power delay profile (PDP), the angular power distribution (APD), the pulse distortion and the RMS delay spread caused by the human body shadowing are presented.

Propagation of electromagnetic wave in the water or underground is very difficult because of the conductivity of the propagation materials. In this case, we usually use acoustic signal as ultrasonic but, it is not easy to transfer long distance with coherent method because of time varying multipath, doppler effect, and attenuations. So, we use noncoherent method as FSK to communicate between long distances. But, as the propagation speed of acoustic sound is very slow, the BW of the channel is narrow. It is very hard to guaranty the enough speed of communication like digital image data. In this paper, we proposed a new data communication protocol which can transmit multi-bit digital data with every single ping, and improve the data communication speed in the water.

In this paper, to investigate the possibility of fading reduction effect and high transmission rate in indoor multipath propagation environment, we measured and analyzed broadband signal conducting by frequency sweeping method in LOS(Line-of-Sight) environment. In measuring, we used vertically polarized, horizonatally polarized and circularly polarized and circularly polarized antenna to compare the fading reduction effect and the characteristic of bandwidth amplitude fluctuation between each broadband signals. As a result, it can be seen that the circularly polarized antenna can reduce the amplitude deviation of the broadband signal because it can remove the odd-times reflected wave in LOS environment. And also, It was found that the best effective diversity reception method is to use polarization branches, which install a circularly polarized antenna at the transmitting end and compose the vertical and horizontal antenna at the receiving end.
In this paper, we implemented a ray-tracing simulator with a ray-launching technique and generated the propagation path of each ray in a multiple-wall indoor environment. In this simulator, we adopted two dimension ray-tracing techniques considering the reflection and penetration were dominant propagation factor in the indoor channel. From the result, we verified that this ray-tracing simulator shows the similar path pattern and delay distribution with the experiment results of the previous research. Especially, impulse responses of the ray were corresponding to reference result in non-line of sight of multiple-wall indoor environment. Furthermore, we confirmed that channel profiles having respectively different departure angle 1 degree to 7 degree were similar between them.

Owing to the difficulties associated with conducting millimeter-wave (mmWave) field measurements, especially in high-speed train (HST) environments, most propagation channels for mmWave HST have been studied using methods based on simulation rather than measurement. In this study, considering a linear cell layout in which base stations are installed along a railway, measurements were performed at 28 GHz with a speed up to 170 km/h in two prevalent HST scenarios: viaduct and tunnel scenarios. By observing the channel impulse responses, we could identify single- and double-bounced multipath components (MPCs) caused by railway static structures such as overhead line equipment. These MPCs affect the delay spread and Doppler characteristics significantly. Moreover, we observed distinct path loss behaviors for the two scenarios, although both are considered line-of-sight (LoS) scenarios. In the tunnel scenario, the path loss exponent (PLE) is 1.3 owing to the waveguide effect, which indicates that the path loss is almost constant with respect to distance. However, the LoS PLE in the viaduct scenario is 2.46, which is slightly higher than the free-space loss.

In this paper, we focus on the simulation of receiver algorithms for the Q-CDMA reverse link modem to analyze its structure and performance. Receiver algorithm is to be characterized by processing a large amount of data for reliable data transmission through poor mobile channel environment. According to Q-CDMA receiver scheme, we connect the code acqusition and code tracking models for despreading of input signals and the RAKE structure demodulator used to resolve the time diversity signal due to multipath propagation. And this connected system is under test. The bit error rates are found for an arbitrary user under the AWGN and multipath fading environments.

In this paper, authors have been evaluated the Frame Error Rate (FER) performance of IEEE 802.11 a/g/p standard 5 GHz frequency band WLAN over Rayleigh and Rician distributed fading channels in presence of Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN). Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) based transceiver is implemented by using real-time signal processing frameworks (IEEE 802.11 Blocks) in GNU Radio Companion (GRC) and Ettus USRP N200 is used to process the symbol over the wireless radio channel. The FER is calculated for each sub-carrier conventional modulation schemes used by OFDM such as BPSK, QPSK, 16, 64-QAM with different punctuated coding rates. More precise SNR is computed by modifying the SNR calculation process of YANS and NIST error rate model to estimate more accurate FER. Here, real-time signal constellations, OFDM signal spectrums etc. are also observed to find the effect of multipath propagation of signals through flat and frequency selective fading channels. To reduce the error rate due to the multipath fading effect and Doppler shifting, channel estimation (CE) and equalization techniques such as Least Square (LS) and training based adaptive Least Mean Square (LMS) algorithm are applied in the receiver. The simulation work is practically verified at GRC by turning into a pair of Software Define Radio (SDR) as a simultaneous transceiver.

It is well know that in the wireless communication systems the transmitted signals can suffer from multipath fading due to the wave propagation characteristics and the obstacles over the paths, resulting in serious reduction in the power of the received signals. However, it is possible to take advantage of the inherent diversity imposed in the multipath reception if the underlying channel can be properly estimated. One of the diversity reception methods in this case is Rake processing. In this paper we study the Rake receivers for the direct-sequence spread-spectrum communication systems utilizing PN (pseudo noise) sequences to achieve spread spectrum. A conventional Rake receiver can use the finite-duration impulse (FIR) filter followed by the PN sequence demodulator, where the FIR filter coefficients are the reverse-ordered complex conjugate values of the fading channel impulse response estimates. Here, we propose a new Rake processing method by replacing the aforementioned PN code sequence with a new set of optimum demodulator coefficients. More specifically, the concept of the new optimum Rake processing is first introduced and then the optimum demodulator coefficients are theoretically derived. The performance obtained using the new optimum Rake processing is also calculated. The analytical results are verified by computer simulation. As a result, it is shown that the new optimum Rake processing method improves the MSE performance more than 10 dB over the conventional one using the fixed PN sequence demodulator. It is also shown that the new optimum Rake processing method improves the MSE performance about 10 dB over the Adaptive Correlator that performs the combining of the multipath components and PN demodulation concurrently. And finally, the MSE performance of the optimum Rake demodulator is very close to the MSE performance of OPSK demodulator under the AWGN channel.
