아이폰으로 촬영된 디지털 이미지의 파일 구조 및 미디어 로그 분석을 통한 법과학적 진본 확인 방법 (A Method of Forensic Authentication via File Structure and Media Log Analysis of Digital Images Captured by iPhone)

  • The digital image to be accepted as legal evidence, it is important to verify the authentication of the digital image. This study proposes a method of authenticating digital images through three steps of comparing the file structure of digital images taken with iPhone, analyzing the encoding information as well as media logs of the iPhone storing the digital images. For the experiment, digital image samples were acquired from nine iPhones through a camera application built into the iPhone. And the characteristics of file structure and media log were compared between digital images generated on the iPhone and digital images edited through a variety of image editing tools. As a result of examining those registered during the digital image creation process, it was confirmed that differences from the original characteristics occurred in file structure and media logs when manipulating digital images on the iPhone, and digital images take with the iPhone. In this way, it shows that it can prove its forensic authentication in iPhone.

  • 국내 Smart Phone 수요가 급속도로 증가함에 따라 멀티미디어 서비스의 활용도 다양해졌다. 이에 따라 Smart Phone 사용자들은 Jail Breaking과 Rooting 등 해킹을 하여 멀티미디어 저작권 콘텐츠를 불법으로 이용하고 있다. 또한 이동통신 단말로서 범죄와 관련성이 높아서, 생성, 저장된 디지털 증거는 증거의 활용도가 높아 모바일 포렌식 연구가 필요하다. 본 논문은 Smart Phone 저작권 위반과 포렌식 적용 방안에 대한 연구이다. Smart Phone 저작권 침해 현황과 관련 위반사항들을 방송, 영화, 음악, e-book 등으로 항목별로 조사하고, 포렌식에 적용 하는 방법에 대해 연구하였다. 본 연구 결과는 과학수사 발전과 포렌식 발전에 기여 할 수 있을 것이다.

  • Recently, the competition among global IT companies for the market occupancy of the IoT(Internet of Things) is fierce. Internet of Things are all the things and people around the world connected to the Internet, and it is becoming more and more intelligent. In addition, for the purpose of providing users with a customized services to variety of context-awareness, IoT platform and related research have been active area. In this paper, we analyze third party instant messengers of Windows 8 Style UI and propose a digital forensic methodology. And, we are well aware of the Android-based map and navigation applications. What we want to show is GPS information analysis by using the R. In addition, we propose a structured data analysis applying the hierarchical clustering model using GPS data in the digital forensics modules. The proposed model is expected to help support the IOT services and efficient criminal investigation process.

시간 정보를 활용한 동영상 파일 복원 기법 (Recovery Corrupted Video Files using Time Information)

  • In recent crime scene, there is the captured crime scene video at least one. So video files recorded on storage media often provide important evidence. Criminals often attempt to destroy storage saved crime scene video. For this reason recovery of a damaged or deleted video file is important to resolve criminal cases in aspects of digital forensic. In the recent, there is a study to recover video file based on video frames, but it is very poor time efficiency when the connecting video frames. This paper proposed advanced frame-based recovery technique of a damaged video files using time information. We suggest a new connecting algorithm to connect video frames using recorded time information in front of video frame. We also evaluate performance in aspects of time and experiment result shows that proposed method improves performance.

  • To analyze the crime scene, the role of digital evidence such as CCTV and black box is very important. Such digital evidence is often damaged due to device defects or intentional deletion. In this case, the deleted video can be restored by well-known techniques like the frame-based recovery method. Especially, the data such as the video can be generally fragmented and saved in the case of the memory used almost fully. If the fragmented video were recovered in units of images, the sequence of the recovered images may not be continuous. In this paper, we proposed a new video restoration method to match the sequence of recovered images. First, the images are recovered through a frame-based recovery technique. Then, after analyzing the time information marked on the images, the time information was extracted and recognized via optical character recognition (OCR). Finally, the recovered images are rearranged based on the time information obtained by OCR. For performance evaluation, we evaluate the recovery rate of our proposed video restoration method. As a result, it was shown that the recovery rate for the fragmented video was recovered from a minimum of about 47% to a maximum of 98%.

  • Digital Rights Management (DRM) technology has been widely used for protecting the digital contents over the recent years. But the digital contents protected by DRM are vulnerable to various video memory capture programs when DRM packaged contents are decrypted on the consumers' multimedia devices. To make up for this kind of DRM security holes the Forensic Marking (FM) technology is being deployed into the content protection area. Most leading DRM companies as well as big electronics companies like Thomson and Philips already have commercial FM solutions. Forensic Marking technology uses the digital watermarking to insert the user information such as user id, content playing time and etc. into the decrypted and decoded content at the playback time on the consumer devices. When the content containing watermarked user information (Forensic Mark) is illegally captured and distributed over the Internet, the FM detection system takes out the inserted FM from the illegal contents and informs contents service providers of the illegal hacker's information. In this paper the requirements and test conditions are discussed for the commercial Forensic Marking systems.

Smart Phone 사용자들은 Jail Breaking과 Rooting 등 해킹을 하여 멀티미디어 저작권 콘텐츠를 불법으로 이용하고 있다. 또한 한 미 FTA 체결에 따른 법적 문제제기와 이동통신 단말로서 범죄와 관련성이 높아서, 생성, 저장된 디지털 증거는 증거의 활용도가 높아 모바일 포렌식 연구가 필요하다. 본 논문은 Smart Phone 저작권 위반을 가정한 경우 적법적인 압수 수색의 방법과 주의 할 점을 연구하였다. Smart Phone 저작권 침해 현황과 관련 위반사항들을 방송, 영화, 음악, e-book 등으로 항목별로 조사하였고, 포렌식에 기술을 적용하여 법정에 보고서를 제출하는 방법에 대해 연구하였다. 본 연구 결과는 Smart Phone 범죄 증거 자료 제공과 모바일 포렌식 기술 발전에 기여 할 수 있을 것이다.

  • Due to the recent rapid changes in society and wide spread of information devices, diverse digital information is utilized in a variety of economic and social analysis. Information related to the crime statistics by type of crime has been used as a major factor in crime. However, statistical analysis using only the structured data has the difficulty in the investigation by providing limited information to investigators and users. In this paper, structured data and unstructured data are analyzed by applying Korean Natural Language Processing (Ko-NLP) and the Latent Semantic Analysis (LSA) technique. It will provide a crime profile optimum system that can be applied to the crime profiling system or statistical analysis.

포렌식 마킹을 위한 특징점 기반의 동적 멀티미디어 핑거프린팅 코드 설계 (A Design on the Multimedia Fingerprinting code based on Feature Point for Forensic Marking)

  • 본 논문에서는 멀티미디어 콘텐츠 보호에 대한 반공모 코드를 위한 동적 멀티미디어 핑거프린팅 코드를 설계하는 알고리즘을 제안한다. 기존의 반공모 코드(ACC: Anti-Collusion Code)를 위한 멀티미디어 핑거프린팅 코드는 BIBD(Balanced Incomplete Block Design)의 접속행렬을 보수행렬로 변환하여 k를 k+1로 증대시키는 수리적 방법으로 설계되었다. 그리고 보수행렬의 코드벡터를 사용자에게 핑거프린팅 코드로 부여하고, 콘텐츠에 삽입하였다. 제안된 알고리즘에서는 사용자가 구매하는 콘텐츠로부터 특징점을 추출하고, 이를 기반으로 동적으로 핑거프린팅 코드를 설계할 수 있도록 BIBD의 v와 k+1 조건을 만족하는 반공모 코드의 후보성 코드를 코드북(Codebook)에 구축하고 ${\lambda}+1$ 조건을 만족하는 행렬(이하, Rhee행렬이라 함.)을 생성한다. 실험을 통하여 콘텐츠의 특징점 기반으로 생성된 Rhee행렬의 코드벡터는 v비트의 유의수준 ($1-{\alpha}$)에서 신뢰구간에 k가 존재하며, Rhee행렬의 각 행과 행, 열과 열 사이의 유클리디안 거리가 BIBD 기반의 보수행렬과 그래프 기반의 보수행렬과 같은 k값이 산출되었다. 더욱이 Rhee행렬의 첫 행과 첫 열은 생성과정에서 초기 점화벡터로 콘텐츠 포렌식 마크 정보가 되며, 이와 관계가 있는 나머지 코드벡터들과의 관계성이 코드북에 기록되어 있기 때문에, 공모된 코드를 추적할 때 원 핑거프린팅 코드의 상관관계 계수를 구할 필요 없이 코드북의 탐색으로 공모자를 추적이 용이하다. 따라서 본 논문에서 생성된 Rhee행렬은 수리적으로 생성된 BIBD 기반의 행렬보다 ACC로서 강인성과 충실도가 우수하다.

  • Forensic Marking is the technology that enables the service providers (SP) to identify the illegal digital contents distributors by first inserting markings (data indicating the user information and playback time) in realtime into the digital contents at time of playback of digital contents, and then later by extracting inserted markings from the contents which are illegally captured from the multimedia device such as IPTV STBs and distributed over the Internet. Digital Rights Management (DRM), which is a very popular content protection technology, has the security hole that can be vulnerable because the encrypted digital contents are transformed into their original plaintext forms after the decrypting process on the STBs. Therefore Forensic Marking (FM) has now become a companion content protection solution to DRM. This article describes a new way of tracking up to 4 illegal content users in FM implementation using the blue-difference chroma component of YCbCr color space. This FM technology has many advantages like fast processing time and easy portability to STB devices compared to that of the traditional watermarking processing in the frequency domain.
