Adaptive Congestion Control for Effective Data Transmission in Wireless Sensor Networks (센서네트워크에서의 효율적인 데이터 전송을 위한 적응적 혼잡 제어)

  • The congestion in wireless sensor network increases the ratio of data loss and causes the delay of data. The existing congestion protocols for wireless sensor network reduces the amount of transmission by control the sampling frequency of the sensor nodes related to the congestion when the congestion has occurred and was detected. However, the control method of sampling frequency is not applicable on the situation which is sensitive to the temporal data loss. In the paper, we propose a new congestion control, ACT - Adaptive Congestion conTrol. The ACT monitors the network traffic with the queue usage and detects the congestion based on the multi level threshold of queue usage. Given network congestion, the ACT increases the efficiency of network by adaptive flow control method which adjusts the frequency of packet transmission and guarantees the fairness of packet transmission between nodes. Furthermore, ACT increases the quality of data by using the variable compression method. Through experiment, we show that ACT increases the network efficiency and guarantees the fairness to sensor nodes compared with existing method.

Improving Multi-DNN Computational Performance of Embedded Multicore Processors through a Global Queue (글로벌 큐를 통한 임베디드 멀티코어 프로세서의 멀티 DNN 연산 성능 향상)

  • DNN is expanding its use in embedded systems such as robots and autonomous vehicles. For high recognition accuracy, computational complexity is greatly increased, and multiple DNNs are running aperiodically. Therefore, the ability processing multiple DNNs in embedded environments is a crucial issue. Accordingly, multicore based platforms are being released. However, most DNN models are operated in a batch process, and when multiple DNNs are operated in multicore together, the execution time deviation between each DNN may be large and the end-to-end execution time of the whole DNNs could be long depending on how they are allocated to the cores. In this paper, we solve these problems by providing a framework that decompose each DNN into individual layers and then distribute to multicores through a global queue. As a result of the experiment, the total DNN execution time was reduced by 31%, and when operating multiple identical DNNs, the deviation in execution time was reduced by up to 95.1%.

  • 최근 지역적으로 분산되어 있는 이질적인 고성능 컴퓨팅 자원을 하나로 묶어 거대한 시스템을 구성하는 그리드 컴퓨팅(Grid Computing)에 대한 연구가 활발하게 이루어짐에 따라, 본 논문에서는 그리드 시스템에서 클라이언트 작업들을 특성에 따라 분류하여 우선순위가 높은 작업은 예약이 가능한 큐로 분배하고 우선순위가 낮은 작업은 백필이 가능한 큐로 할당하는 다중 큐 스케줄링 기법을 제안하였고 다양한 실험을 통하여 제안된 기법들의 성능을 평가하였다. 그 결과 그리드 컴퓨팅 시스템의 이용률(Utilization)이 높아지고, 작업 지연시간(Slowdown)이 줄어드는 것을 확인하였다.

  • 최근 인터넷에서는 인터넷 방송, 화상 회의, VoIP 등 QoS 보장을 요구하는 새로운 응용 서비스들의 출현과 함께 IP QoS의 문제는 인터넷에서 가장 주요한 과제 중 하나로 등장하고 있다. 이러한 QoS의 적용은 가장 상용화 되어 있는 이더넷 망에서도 마찬가지로 적용되어야 하는 문제이다. 또한 사용자들은 SLA(Sonics Level Agreement)내에서 최선의 QoS 요구하게 되었다. QoS 보장을 위해 기존에는 통합 서비스(Integrated Service)나 차별화 서비스(Differentiated Service) 방식만을 사용하였으나 실제 적용하는데 구현상의 여러 문제점이 발견되었고, 대역폭 할당 방식에 있어서도 토큰 버킷(Token Bucket)과 같은 복잡한 방식을 사용하였다. 본 논문에서는 간단하면서 적용하기 쉬운 QoS 보장을 위한 멀티큐에서의 속도 계산(Rate Calculation)방식을 제안하며 OPNET을 통해 제안된 방식을 검증하도록 한다.

  • 고성능 컴퓨팅 자원(Computing Resources)을 네트워크를 통하여 하나로 연동하여 단일 컴퓨팅 작업을 수행하는 그리드 컴퓨팅(Grid Computing)에 대한 연구가 최근 활성화 되고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 그리드를 구성하는 노드에 작업을 분배하는 메타 스케줄링(Metascheduling)과 노드내의 작업을 프로세서에 적절히 할당하는 작업 스케줄링 방법을, 작업 큐와 두 개의 백필 큐를 사용하는 혼합 기법을 사용하여, 작업 지연율(Slowdown Ratio)을 줄이고 그리드 컴퓨팅의 이용률(Utilization)을 높이는 방법을 제안하였으며 다양한 실험을 통하여 성능을 평가하였다.

  • In this paper, we consider a queueing network model. where the population constraint within each subnetwork is controlled by a semaphore queue. The total number of customers that may be present in the subnetwork can not exceed a given value. Each node has a constant service time and the arrival process to the queueing network is an arbitrary distribution. A major characteristics of this model is that the lower layer flow is halted by the state of higher layer. We present some properties that the inter-change of nodes does not make any difference to customer's waiting time in the queueing network under a certain condition. The queueing network can be transformed into a simplified queueing network. A dramatic simplification of the queueing network is shown. It is interesting to see how the simplification developed for sliding window flow control, can be applied to multi-layered queueing network.

Cross-layer Resource Allocation Algorithm for Downlink OFDM System

  • In this paper, an adaptive cross-layer resource allocation algorithm for the downlink multi-user OFDM system is proposed. The proposed algorithm does not only concern the wireless characteristics of physical (PHY) layer, but also pays attention to the user's quality of service (QoS) requirement, fairness, and packet queue state information of medium access control (MAC) layer. The algorithm is composed of two parts: one is to decide the priority of the user, and the other is to assign the radio resource according to its priority. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm has both steady QoS and low computation complexity, even though the mobile users have different receiving signal to noise ratio (SNR).

  • Purpose: We introduce ways to employ Markov chain model to evaluate the effect of preventive maintenance process. While the preventive maintenance process decreases the failure rate of each subsystems, it increases the downtime of the system because the system can not work during the maintenance process. The goal of this paper is to introduce ways to analyze this trade-off. Methods: Markov chain models are employed. We derive the availability of the system consisting of N repairable subsystems by the methods under various maintenance policies. Results: To validate our methods, we apply our models to the real maintenance data reports of military truck. The error between the model and the data was about 1%. Conclusion: The models developed in this paper fit real data well. These techniques can be applied to calculate the availability under various preventive maintenance policies.

  • Traffic analysis during past years used the Poisson distribution or Markov model, assuming an exponential distribution of packet queue arrival. Recent studies, however, have shown aperiodic and burst characteristics of network traffics. Such characteristics of data traffic enable the scalability of network, QoS, optimized design, when we analyze new traffic model having a self-similar characteristic. This paper analyzes the self-similar characteristics of a small-scale mixed traffic in a network simulation, the real WAN delay time, TCP packet size, and the total network usage.

  • 양방향 동기화 기법은 모바일 단말기를 활용하는 GIS 시스템에서 사용자들에게 최신의 시공간 데이터를 신속하게 전파하기 위한 변경전파 기법이다. 그러나 여러 클라이언트들로부터 시공간 데이터가 변경될 수 있기 때문에 시공간 데이터의 일관성 유지에 문제가 있다. 이 논문에서는 모바일 클라이언트에서 변경한 시공간 데이터의 변경충돌검사를 위한 타임스탬프를 정의하고, 동시에 동기화를 요청한 클라이언트들의 트랜잭션을 처리하기 위해 다중 큐를 이용한 동시성 제어 기법을 제안한다.
