The human physiological systems are so complex and irregular dynamics. Dynamics of peripheral blood vessel, in particular, have quite sensitive and complex. Before, the linear analytic method have been used to analyze the system. But, the method have many problems to predict the following results. In the other hand, the nonlinear analytic method, chaotic time series analysis method, is suitable for measuring complex, vary system. In this study, the scalar data of the blood flow of peripheral blood vessel of rabbits, in accordance with injection of glucose, was obtained and redefined as multi-dimensional vectors, with time-series analytic methods. This study also intended to confirm that the peripheral blood flow is chaotic dynamics and evaluate the availability of non-linear analytic method. As a result, the existing FFT, and mean could show the difference of blood flow of peripheral blood vessel by injection of glucose, but the nonlinear analytic method could show the definite difference. The hemodynamics is a chaotic phenomenon.

In this study, an analysis of the thermo-fluid dynamic and missile-motion performance was carried out through a numerical simulation inside the missile canister. Calculation was made in an analytical volume using dynamic grid and evaporated water was used as a coolant. To analyze the interaction among the hot gas, coolant, and mixture flow, Realizable $k-{\varepsilon}$ turbulence and VOF (Volume Of Fluid) model were chosen and a parametric study was performed with the change of coolant flow rate. As a result of the analysis, pressure of the canister showed a large difference depending on the presence or absence of the coolant, and also showed a dependancy on the amount of coolant. Velocity and acceleration were dependent on the canister pressure.
Efficient numerical method is developed for the prediction of aerodynamic noise generation and propagation in low Mach number flows such as aeolian tone noise. The proposed numerical method is based on acoustic/viscous splitting techniques of which acoustic solvers use simplified linearised Euler equations, full linearised Euler equations and nonlinear perturbation equations as acoustic governing equations. All of acoustic equations are forced with immersed surface dipole model which is developed for the efficient computation of aerodynamic noise generation and propagation in low Mach number flows in which dipole source, originating from unsteady pressure fluctuation on a solid surface, is known to be more efficient than quadrupole sources. Multi-scale overset grid technique is also utilized to resolve the complex geometries. Initially, aeolian tone from single cylinder is considered to examine the effects that the immersed surface dipole models combined with the different acoustic governing equations have on the overall accuracy of the method. Then, the current numerical method is applied to the simulation of the aeolian tones from twin cylinders aligned perpendicularly to the mean flow and separated 3 diameters between their centers. In this configuration, symmetric vortices are shed from twin cylinders, which leads to the anti-phase of the lift dipoles and the in-phase of the drag dipoles. Due to these phase differences, the directivity of the fluctuating pressure from the lift dipoles shows the comparable magnitude with that from the drag dipoles at 10 diameters apart from the origin. However, the directivity at 100 diameters shows that the lift-dipole originated noise has larger magnitude than, but still comparable to, that of the drag-dipole one. Comparison of the numerical results with and without mean flow effects on the acoustic wave emphasizes the effects of the sheared background flows around the cylinders on the propagating acoustic waves, which is not generally considered by the classic acoustic analogy methods. Through the comparison of the results using the immersed surface dipole models with those using point sources, it is demonstrated that the current methods can allow for the complex interactions between the acoustic wave and the solid wall and the effects of the mean flow on the acoustic waves.
How is the flow in a rotating impeller. About 35 years have passed since one experimentalist rotating with the impeller. of a huge centrifugal blower made the flow measurements using a hot-wire anemometer (Fowler 1968). Optical measurement methods have great advantages over the intrusive methods especially for the flow measurement in a rotating impeller. One is the optical flow visualization (FV) technique (Senoo, et al., 1968) and the other is the application of laser velocimetry (LV) (Hah and Krain, 1990). Particle image velocimetries (PIVs) combine major features of both FV and LV, and are very attractive due to the feasibility of simultaneous and multi-points measurements (Hayami and Aramaki, 1999). A high-pressure-ratio transonic centrifugal compressor with a low-solidity cascade diffuser was tested in a closed loop with HFC134a gas at 18,000rpm (Hayami, 2000). Two kinds of measurement techniques by image processing were applied to visualize a flow in the compressor. One is a velocity field measurement at the inducer of the impeller using a PIV and the other is a pressure field measurement on the side wall of the cascade diffuser using a pressure sensitive paint (PSP) measurement technique. The PIV was successfully applied for visualization of an unsteady behavior of a shock wave based on the instantaneous velocity field measurement (Hayami, et al., 2002b) as well as a phase-averaged velocity vector field with a shock wave over one blade pitch (Hayami, et al., 2002a. b). A violent change in pressure was successfully visualized using a PSP measurement during a surge condition even though there are still some problems to be overcome (Hayami, et al., 2002c). Both PIV and PSP results are discussed in comparison with those of laser-2-focus (L2F) velocimetry and those of semiconductor pressure sensors. Experimental fluid dynamics (EFDs) are still growing up more and more both in hardware and in software. On the other hand, computational fluid dynamics (CFDs) are very attractive to understand the details of flow. A secondary flow on the side wall of the cascade diffuser was visualized based either steady or unsteady CFD calculations (Bonaiuti, et al.,2002). EFD and CFD methods will be combined to a hybrid method being complementary to each other. Measurement techniques by image processing as well as CFD calculations give a huge amount of data. Then, data mining technique will become more important to understand the flow mechanism both for EFD and CFD.

During a hypothetical high-pressure accident in a nuclear power plant (NPP), molten corium can be ejected through a breach of a reactor pressure vessel (RPV) and dispersed by a following jet of a high-pressure steam in the RPV. The dispersed corium is fragmented into smaller droplets in a reactor cavity of the NPP by the steam jet and released into other compartments of the NPP by a overpressure in the cavity. The fragments of the corium transfer thermal energy to the ambient air in the containment or interact chemically with steam and generate hydrogen which may be burnt in the containment. The thermal loads from the ejected molten corium on the containment which is called direct containment heating (DCH) can threaten the integrity of the containment. DCH in a NPP containment is related to many physical phenomena such as multi-phase hydrodynamics, thermodynamics and chemical process. In the evaluation of the DCH load, the melt dispersion rates depending on the RPV pressure are the most important parameter. Mostly, DCH was evaluated by using lumped-analysis codes with some correlations obtained from experiments for the dispersion rates. In this study, MC3D code was used to evaluate the dispersion rates in the APR1400 NPP during the high-pressure accidents. MC3D is a two-phase analysis code based on Eulerian four-fields for melt jet, melt droplets, gas and water. The dispersion rates of the corium melt depending on the RPV pressure were obtained from the MC3D analyses and the values specific to the APR1400 cavity geometry were compared to a currently available correlation.

A novel two stage cylindrical cyclone was developed for a 3 phase separator in shale oil production industry. The cyclone performance was compared with a cone type cyclone and multi cyclone at the same experimental condition using water and oil mists generated by a humidifier and atomizer at the flow rate 1 to $2m^3/min$. The removal efficiency of total suspended water droplets by the novel cyclone, calculated using inlet and outlet concentrations measured by an optical particle counter, was 99% which is higher than 90% of oil droplet removal efficiency at $2m^3/min$. It might be due to the evaporation of small water droplets during the tests. The water and oil droplet removal performance of the novel cyclone based on the quality factor which is a function of pressure drop and removal efficiency was the highest among three cyclones. The results indicate that the cyclone could be an economical device to remove water and oil mists from shale gas generation processes where a huge three phase separator is commonly used.

An experimental study was performed to investigate the behavior of green water on a structure with a rectangular cross section under wave conditions, along with the flow characteristics in bubbly water flow. An experiment was conducted in a two-dimensional wave flume using an acrylic model (1/125) of FPSO BW Pioneer operating in the Gulf of Mexico under its design wave condition. The occurrence of green water, including its development, in front of the model was captured using a high-speed Charge Coupled Device (CCD) camera with the shadowgraph technique. Using consecutive images, the generation procedure for green water on the model was divided into five phases: flip through, air entrapment, wave run-up, wave overturning, and water shipping. In addition, the distinct water elevations of the green water were defined as the height of flip through, height of splashing jet, and height of freeboard exceedance, and showed a linear relationship with the incoming wave height.

This paper aims to examine the effect of rotational fluid motion about the efficiency of the gas - liquid ejector, which is a core unit in a ship equilibrium water treatment system. The ejector is a device for injecting ozone into ship equilibrium by the negative pressure generated by exchange of momentum between water and ozone. The existing ejector ejects the driving fluid with a simple form. In this paper, however, a rotation induction device is applied to the driving nozzle so that the driving fluid can be rotated and injected. To investigate the flow characteristics by the rotational movement of the driving fluid, CFD was used. The pressure and flow rate of the driving fluid, the negative pressure and suction flow rate of the suction fluid in the suction part, and the discharge pressure were predicted. On the basis of the results, the efficiency of the ejector using the rotation induction system was 22.25%, which was about 1.7% better than that of the existing ejector. Finally, to verify the feasibility of the CFD, an experiment was conducted on the ejector using the rotation induction device and the results were similar to those of the CFD.

This paper provides the results of numerical and theoretical predictions of oil outflows from damaged single-hull and double-hull ships.Theoretical equations derived from the unsteady Bernoulli equation and a CFD method for multi-phase flow analysis were used to estimate the oil outflow rate from cargo tank. The predicted oil outflow rate from a single-hull cargo tank damaged due to grounding and collision accidents showed a good agreement with the available experimental results in both numerical and theoretical analyses. However, in the case of the double-hull conditions, the time variation of the amount of water and oil mixture inside the ballast tank predicted by the theoretical equation showed some different behavior from the numerical results. The reason was that the interaction of the oil flow with the water inflow in the ballast tank was not reflected in the theoretical equations. In the problems of the initial pressure condition in the cargo and ballast tanks, the oil outflow and water inflow were delayed at the pressure condition that the tanks were sealed. When the flow interaction between the oil and water in the ballast tank was less complicated, the theoretical and the numerical results showed a good agreement with each other.

In the case of multi-function weirs installed in Korea, the free hydraulic jump or the submerged hydraulic jump is occurred depending on the height of the gate opening and the tailwater level when the sluice gate of the movable weir is partially opened. In this study, the submerged hydraulic jump for the flows under the sluice gate were simulated and the mean flow, turbulence statistics, and relative water depth are investigated using numerical simulation. For numerical simulation, the unsteady Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equation, volume of fluid method, and k-ωSST turbulence model were used. The numerical model was validated using the results of other researchers' previously performed experiments, and it was investigated that the numerical model appropriately simulates the two-phase flow in the hydraulic jump. In addition, the distribution of mean flow, turbulence statistics, and the length of recirculation region was investigated.
