A computational approach to the simulation of controlled flows by synthetic jets actuators

  • The paper focuses on the integration of a non-linear one-dimensional model of Synthetic Jet (SJ) actuator in a well-assessed numerical simulation method for turbulent compressible flows. The computational approach is intended to the implementation of a numerical tool suited for flow control simulations with affordable CPU resources. A strong compromise is sought between the use of boundary conditions or zero-dimensional models and the full simulation of the actuator cavity, in view of long-term simulation with multiple synthetic jet actuators. The model is integrated in a multi-domain numerical procedure where the controlled flow field is simulated by a standard CFD method for compressible RANS equations, while flow inside the actuator is reduced to a one-dimensional duct flow with a moving piston. The non-linear matching between the two systems, which ensures conservation of the mass, momentum and energy is explained. The numerical method is successfully tested against three typical test cases: the jet in quiescent air, the SJ in cross flow and the flow control on the NACA0015 airfoil.

사각형 여과집진기 충격기류 시스템의 최적탈진조건에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental study on the optimum pulse jet cleaning conditions of a rectangular bag-filter system)

  • Cylindrical bag filter system with pulse jet cleaning has been the most common device to control particle laden exhaust gas from the various industrial processes. But, it has many shortcomings due to particle reattachment and frequent bag rupture. In recent years, rectangular type bag filter system has been developed to overcome the problems associated with the cylindrical system. However, not many studies about the rectangular system were not done, compared to the cylindrical system. In this study, the optimum pulse jet cleaning conditions were thus tested by the series of experiments. The factors tested in this study are pulse distance, pulse pressure, pulse duration, the number of holes for pulsing and bag materials. A single bag ($1,500mmL{\times}50mmW{\times}300mmH$) system and a multi-bags (3 bags in a row) were tested separately. The highest removal efficiency with a single bag system was found at the conditions with pulse distance of 10cm, pulse pressure of $3kg/cm^2$, pulse duration of 0.3s, pulse jet number of 6 and Polyester bag. With the multi-bags system, the best cleaning conditions were found at the bag interval of 20cm with the simultaneous pulsing and the bag interval of 15cm with the serial pulsing.

국내 조종사 제트 형식한정 개정에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Revision of Domestic Pilot Jet Type Rating)

  • 현재 국내에서는 제트 한정자격을 취득하려면 소형 비즈니스 제트 기종으로 교육을 받아야 한다. 그 이유는 항공안전법 시행규칙 『별표 4』의 "중략~ 2시간 이상의 비행훈련을 받아야 한다."라는 법규 때문이다. 결국 운용비용이 상대적으로 저렴한 소형 비즈니스 제트 항공기로 형식 한정자격을 취득하는 셈이다. 이렇게 취득한 자격은 항공사에서 운용하고 있는 항공기와는 차이가 있다. 그러나 초기 제트 한정자격이 있으면, 항공사 보유 항공기 자격을 시뮬레이터 훈련만으로 취득할 수 있기에 항공사는 소형제트 한정자격이라도 소지하기를 원한다. 하지만 미국과 호주에서는 초기 제트 한정자격을 취득함에 있어서 실비행 훈련 없이 시뮬레이터 훈련만으로 해당 기종 한정자격을 취득할 수 있는 제도가 마련되어 있다.

  • May(1945)에 의하여 임팩터가 개발된 이후 임팩터의 단별 분리입경의 정확성을 증가시키고, 기판에서 입자의 채취량을 늘리며, 임팩터 내부의 입자손실과 기판에서 입자가 충돌하여 튀어나오는 것(bounce)을 줄일 수 있는 방법 등이 꾸준히 연구되고 있다. 가속 노즐의 형상을 사각형에서 원형으로 변경하여 분리효율곡선의 기울기(stiffness)를 증가시킬 수 있었고(Mitchell and Filcher, 1959), 임팩터의 한 단에 여러 개의 가속 노즐을 가공한 다중 노즐(multi-jet) 임팩터를 사용함으로써 단의 분리입경을 낮추고, 입자의 채취량을 늘릴 수 있게 되었다(Anderson, 1958). 고유량 정전분무를 위한 다중 홈노즐 특성 연구 (Characteristics of Multiplexed Grooved Nozzles for High Flow Rate Electrospray)

  • The electrospray operated in the cone-jet mode can generate highly charged micro droplets in an almost uniform size at low flow rates. Therefore, the multiplexing system which can retain the characteristics of the cone-jet mode is inevitable for the electrospray application. This experiment reports the multiplexed grooved nozzle system with the extractor. The effects of the grooves and the extractor on the performance of the electrospray were evaluated through experiments. Using the grooved nozzle, the stable cone-jet mode can be achieved at the each groove in the grooved mode. Furthermore, the number of nozzles per unit area is increased by the extractor. The multiplexing density is 12 jets per $cm^2$ at 30 mm distance from the nozzle tip to the ground plate. The multiplexing system for the high flow rate electrospray is realized with the extractor which can diminish the space charge effect without sacrificing characteristics of the cone-jet mode.

디젤 분무와 천연 가스 분류의 거동 특성에 관한 기초 연구 (A Basic Study of the Behavior Characteristics of Diesel Spray and Natural-gas Jet)

  • This basic study is required to examine spray or jet behavior depending on fuel phase. In this study, analyses of diesel fuel(n-Tridecane, $C_{13}H_{28}$) spray and natural gas fuel(Methane, $CH_4$) jet under high temperature and pressure are performed by a general-purpose program, ANSYS CFX release 11.0, and the results of these are compared with experimental results of diesel fuel spray using the exciplex fluorescence method. The simulation results of diesel spray is analyzed by using the combination of Large-Eddy Simulation(LES) and Lagrangian Particle Tracking(LPT) and of a natural gas jet is analyzed by using Multi-Component Model(MCM). There are two study variables considered, that is, ambient pressure and injection pressure. In a macroscopic analysis, the higher ambient pressure is, the shorter spray or jet tip penetration is at each time after start of injection. And the higher injection pressure is, the longer spray or jet tip penetration is at each time after start of injection. When liquid fuel is injected, droplets of the fuel need some time to evaporate. However, when natural gas fuel is injected, the fuel does not need time to evaporate. Gas fuel consists of minute particles. Therefore, the gas fuel is mixed with the ambient gas more quickly at the initial time of injection than the liquid fuel is done. The experimental results also validate the usefulness of this analysis.

Development of Plate-type Fine Atomizing Nozzles for SI Engines with Intake-port Fuel Injection

  • This paper presents both experimental and numerical studies regarding nozzles used for the SI engine application, particularly for the intake-port fuel injection type. The atomization mechanism of the multi-hole plate nozzle was investigated experimentally. It was found that the nozzle design added turbulence into the liquid-film jet and the jet disintegrated rapidly. Based on the results, various plate types for the nozzle were developed and tested; six hole nozzle for liquid jet interaction, plate-type nozzle with flat duct channel, and the simpler structured nozzle. The spray characteristics of the prototype nozzles were examined experimentally while the internal flow of the nozzle was investigated computationally. It was shown that turbulent liquid-film was injected and atomization quality was improved by controlling the internal flow condition of the plate-type nozzle.

Preparation of reflexite collimating film (RCF) by ink-jet technique with organic-inorganic hybrid precursor

  • In this study, we prepared the multi-refraction film thin by ink-jet technique with sol-gel precursor. The precursors were prepared by using some transition metal alk-oxide and the tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS) mixed separately with n-Butyl Alcohol and PVB (Poly(vinyl butyral)).The structure and morphology of the resulting films were investigated by atomic force microscope (AFM). It is shown that the shape of the pattern of the films would affect the refraction proportion.

압축공기의 흡입과 분사를 위한 멀티 에어건의 설계 개발 (A Design and Development of Multi Air gun for suction and shooting a jet of compressed air)

  • 이 논문의 목적은 작업장에서 사용하기 위한 에어건의 개발에 관련된 것이다. 에어건은 공작기계를 사용하는 산업현장에서 공작물 칩과 절삭유의 제거를 위한 도구이다. 그리고 그것은 일반적으로 압축공기를 분사하는 용도로 사용된다. 작업자는 에어의 흡입과 분사를 위해 각각의 에어건을 준비하여야 한다. 따라서 우리는 새로운 에어건을 개발하였다. 이 논문에서 우리는 에어건의 설계와 분석을 위한 연구를 한다. 에어건은 몸체, 파이프, 개폐 유닛, 전환 유닛, 에어 튜브 그리고 조립을 위한 요소들로 구성된다. 개발된 에어건은 그 효율을 확인하기 위해 실험된다.
