In the environment of single application data broadcasting, only one application can be serviced at a specific time on one channel. To overcome this, we developed the structure and the method of operation for multi-applications which are fully conformant to the ACAP (Advanced Common Application Platform), and modified data broadcasting system to support multi-applications. In multi-application environment, broadcasters can service multiple applications simultaneously at a specific airtime on one channel so users can enjoy services selectively according to their preferences. In this paper, we present an example of multi-application service which was developed to make an experiment before servicing them to users on the air. The core of the multi-application is a manager application which manages other ordinary applications, so we describe the function and structure of the manager application, and then present the experimental results to show that the proposed method is the proper model for multi-applications.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the teachers' multi-media application ability, their perception on the use of multi-media for story-telling, and actual use in class. The survey, using a questionnaire, was conducted targeting 225 teachers in Seoul, Gyeonggi and Incheon. The results of the study are as follows: Firstly, teachers who were younger, had a higher level of education, were experienced in taking multi-media courses, and took charge of larger classes showed better ability of multi-media application. And teachers who were trained on multi media as well as kindergarten teachers indicated a more positive perception about applying multi-media for story-telling. In addition, teachers who had higher levels of education, were experienced in taking multi-media courses, and teaching larger classes at national/public institutions applied multi-media more frequently. Secondly, the teachers' ability of applying multi-media, their perception on the use of multi-media for story-telling, and their multi-media use in class indicated strong positive correlations. Thirdly, a teacher's perception on the significance of the multi-media application for story-telling, their skills for multi-media use, the size of classes, and the training experiences on multi-media affected their actual application of multi-media for story-telling.

Several multi-user online applications which are operated by the existing fixed terminals(PC) are being changed into online application based on multi-platform operated by the several PC, PDA and mobile phones to perform concurrent works recently. The contents of current online application based multi-platform are, however, very unsophisticated because the applications don't consider the simultaneous accesses of shared data by multi-user and also the asymmetry of computing power and network bandwidth among each client. This paper proposed the methods of consistency control based on multi-platform, update propagation protocols among diverse clients, object management techniques which take the characteristics of mobile clients into account. We also implemented a chatting application based on multi-platform and it showed the proposed methods perform well.

Although sustainable development of a city should in theory be based on updated spatial information like land cover/use changes, in practice there are no effective tools to get such information. However the development of satellite and sensor technologies has increased the supply of high resolution satellite data, allowing cost-effective, multi-temporal monitoring. Especially KOMPSAT-1(KOrea Multi-Purpose SATellite) acquired a large number of images of the whole Korean peninsula and covering some large cities a number of times. In this study land-use patterns and trends of Daejeon from the year 2000 to the year 2003 will be considered using land use maps which are generated by manual interpretation of multi-temporal KOMPSAT EOC imagery and to show the possibility of using high resolution satellite remote sensing data for urban analysis.

For disaster exploration and surveillance application, this paper aims to present a novel application of a multi-robot agent based on WSN and to evaluate a multi-hop communication caused by the robotics correspondingly, which are used in the uncertain and unknown subterranean tunnel. A Primary-Scout Multi-Robot System (PS-MRS) was proposed. A chain topology in a subterranean environment was implemented using a trimmed ZigBee2006 protocol stack to build the multi-hop communication network. The ZigBee IC-CC2530 modular circuit was adapted by mounting it on the PS-MRS. A physical experiment based on the strategy of PS-MRS was used in this paper to evaluate the efficiency of multi-hop communication and to realize the delivery of data packets in an unknown and uncertain underground laboratory environment.

This paper presents benefits of multi-agent system approach and its application to the distribution automation system. Special attention is devoted to the description of hardware and communication platform used to upgrade the conventional distribution automation system structure. Service restoration of primary distribution system is selected as an example of the multi-agent system application. Application of the algorithm for multi-agent based service restoration technique is disclosed in detail. Real field test in Gochang test center of KEPCO has been performed to establish the feasibility of proposed technique.

This research will examine into the capabilities of KOMPSAI-1 EOC image application in the field of urban environment and at the same time, with that as its foundation, come to understand the urban changes of the study areas. This research is constructed in three stages: Firstly, for application of change detection techniques, which utilizes multi-temporal remotely sensed data, the data normalization process is carried out. Secondly, change detection method is applied fur the systematic monitoring of land use changes, which utilizes multi-temporal EOC images. Lastly, by using the results of the application of land use changes, the existing land use map is updated. Consequently, the land-use change patterns are monitored, which utilize multi-temporal panchromatic EOC image data; and application potentials of ancillary data fur updating existing data can be presented. In this research, with the use of the land use change, monitoring of urban growth has been carried out, and the potential for the application of KOMPSAT-1 EOC images and the scope of application was examined. Henceforth, the future expansion of the scope of application of KOMPSAT-1 EOC image is anticipated.
