The multicast routing problem lies in the composition of a multicast routing tree including a source node and multiple destinations. There is a trade-off relationship between cost and delay, and the multicast routing problem of optimizing these two conditions at the same time is a difficult problem to solve and it belongs to a multi-objective optimization problem (MOOP). A multi-objective genetic algorithm (MOGA) is efficient to solve MOOP. A micro-genetic algorithm(${\mu}GA$) is a genetic algorithm with a very small population and a reinitialization process, and it is faster than a simple genetic algorithm (SGA). We propose a multi-objective micro-genetic algorithm (MO${\mu}GA$) that combines a MOGA and a ${\mu}GA$ to find optimal solutions (Pareto optimal solutions) of multicast routing problems. Computational results of a MO${\mu}GA$ show fast convergence and give better solutions for the same amount of computation than a MOGA.
In this article, we suggest a two-dimensional genetic algorithm (GA) method that applies a cognitive radio (CR) decision engine which determines the optimal transmission parameters for multicarrier communication systems. Because a CR is capable of sensing the previous environmental communication information, CR decision engine plays the role of optimizing the individual transmission parameters. In order to obtain the allowable transmission power of multicarrier based CR system demands interference analysis a priori, for the sake of efficient optimization, a two-dimensionalGA structure is proposed in this paper which enhances the computational complexity. Combined with the fitness objective evaluation standard, we focus on two multi-objective optimization methods: The conventional GA applied with the multi-objective fitness approach and the non-dominated sorting GA with Pareto-optimal sorting fronts. After comparing the convergence performance of these algorithms, the transmission power of each subcarrier is proposed as non-interference emission with its optimal values in multicarrier based CR system.

This study investigates the multi-objective fuzzy optimization of crowbar resistance for the doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) low-voltage ride-through (LVRT). By integrating the crowbar resistance of the crowbar circuit as a decision variable, a multi-objective model for crowbar resistance value optimization has been established to minimize rotor overcurrent and to simultaneously reduce the DFIG reactive power absorbed from the grid during the process of LVRT. A multi-objective genetic algorithm (MOGA) is applied to solve this optimization problem. In the proposed GA, the value of the crowbar resistance is represented by floating-point numbers in the GA population. The MOGA emphasizes the non-dominated solutions and simultaneously maintains diversity in the non-dominated solutions. A fuzzy-set-theory-based is employed to obtain the best solution. The proposed approach has been evaluated on a 3 MW DFIG LVRT. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed approach for solving the crowbar resistance multi-objective optimization problem in the DFIG LVRT.

This paper is concerned with a sequencing problem in mixed model assembly lines, which is important to efficient utilization of the lines. In the problem, we deal with the two objectives of minimizing the risk of stoppage and leveling part usage, and consider sequence-dependent setup time. In this paper, we present a genetic algorithm(GA) suitable for the multi-objective optimization problem. The aim of multi-objective optimization problems is to find all possible non-dominated solutions. The proposed algorithm is compared with existing multi-objective GAs such as vector evaluated GA, Pareto GA, and niched Pareto GA. The results show that our algorithm outperforms the compared algorithms in finding good solutions and diverse non-dominated solutions.

The purpose of this paper is to improve the efficiency of multi-objective topology optimization using a genetic algorithm (GA) with bar-system representation. We proposed a new GA using an elite initial population obtained from a Solid Isotropic Material with Penalization (SIMP) using a weighted sum method. SIMP with a weighted sum method is one of the most established methods using sensitivity analysis. Although the implementation of the SIMP method is straightforward and computationally effective, it may be difficult to find a complete Pareto-optimal set in a multi-objective optimization problem. In this study, to build a more convergent and diverse global Pareto-optimal set and reduce the GA computational cost, some individuals, with similar topology to the local optimum solution obtained from the SIMP using the weighted sum method, were introduced for the initial population of the GA. The proposed method was applied to a structural topology optimization example and the results of the proposed method were compared with those of the traditional method using standard random initialization for the initial population of the GA.
In terms of waste load allocation, inequality of waste load discharge must be considered as well as economic aspects such as minimization of waste load abatement. The inequality of waste load discharge between areas was calculated with Gini coefficient and was included as one of the objective functions of the multi-objective waste load allocation. In the past, multi-objective functions were usually weighted and then transformed into a single objective optimization problem. Recently, however, due to the difficulties of applying weighting factors, multi-objective genetic algorithms (GA) that require only one execution for optimization is being developed. This study analyzes multi-objective waste load allocation using NSGA-II-aJG that applies Pareto-dominance theory and it's adaptation of jumping gene. A sensitivity analysis was conducted for the parameters that have significant influence on the solution of multi-objective GA such as population size, crossover probability, mutation probability, length of chromosome, jumping gene probability. Among the five aforementioned parameters, mutation probability turned out to be the most sensitive parameter towards the objective function of minimization of waste load abatement. Spacing and maximum spread are indexes that show the distribution and range of optimum solution, and these two values were the optimum or near optimal values for the selected parameter values to minimize waste load abatement.

The application of the theoretical model to real assembly lines has been one of the biggest challenges for researchers and industrial engineers. There should be some realistic approach to achieve the conflicting objectives on real systems. Therefore, in this paper, a model is developed to synchronize a real system (A discrete event simulation model) with a theoretical model (An optimization model). This synchronization will enable the realistic optimization of systems. A job assignment model of the assembly line is formulated for the evaluation of proposed realistic optimization to achieve multiple conflicting objectives. The objectives, fluctuation in cycle time, throughput, labor cost, energy cost, teamwork and deviation in the skill level of operators have been modeled mathematically. To solve the formulated mathematical model, a multi-objective simulation integrated hybrid genetic algorithm (MO-SHGA) is proposed. In MO-SHGA each individual in each population acts as an input scenario of simulation. Also, it is very difficult to assign weights to the objective function in the traditional multi-objective GA because of pareto fronts. Therefore, we have proposed a probabilistic based linearization and multi-objective to single objective conversion method at population evolution phase. The performance of MO-SHGA is evaluated with the standard multi-objective genetic algorithm (MO-GA) with both deterministic and stochastic data settings. A case study of the goalkeeping gloves assembly line is also presented as a numerical example which is solved using MO-SHGA and MO-GA. The proposed research is useful for the development of synchronized human based assembly lines for real time monitoring, optimization, and control.

This paper analyzes a multi-product inbound lot-sizing and outbound dispatching problem with multi-vehicle types in a third-party logistics distribution center. The product must be delivered to the customers within the delivery time window and backlogging is not allowed. Replenishing orders are shipped by several types of vehicles with two types of the freight costs, i.e., uniform and decreasing, are considered. The objective of this study is to determine the lot-size and dispatching schedules to minimize the total cost with the sum of inbound and outbound transportation and inventory costs over the entire time horizon. In this study, we mathematically derive a mixed-integer programming model and propose a genetic algorithm (GA1) based on a local search heuristic algorithm to solve large-scale problems. In addition, we suggest a new genetic algorithm (GA2) with an adjusting algorithm to improve the performance of GA1. The basic mechanism of the GA2 is to provide an unidirectional partial move of products to available containers in the previous period. Finally, we analyze the results of GA1 and GA2 by evaluate the relative performance using the gap between the objective values of CPLEX and the each algorithm.

This paper presents a fuzzy-GA method for the allocation and operation of dispersed generator systems(DGs) based on load model in composite distribution systems. Groups of each individual load model consist of residential, industrial, commercial, official and agricultural load. The problem formulation considers an objective to reduce power loss of distribution systems and the constraints such as the number or total capacity of DGs and the deviation of the bus voltage. The main idea of solving fuzzy goal programming is to transform the original objective function and constraints into the equivalent multi-objectives functions with fuzzy sets to evaluate their imprecise nature for the criterion of power loss minimization, the number or total capacity of DGs and the bus voltage deviation, and then solve the problem using genetic algorithm. The method proposed is applied to IEEE 12 bus and 33 bus test systems to demonstrate its effectiveness. .
In this paper, a multi-objective multiparameter optimization procedure is developed by combining rigorously developed metamodels with an evolutionary search algorithm-Genetic Algorithm (GA). Response surface methodology (RSM) is used for developing the metamodels to replace the tedious finite element analyses. A nine-node isoparametric plate bending element is used for conducting the finite element simulations. Highly accurate numerical data from an author compiled FORTRAN finite element program is first used by the RSM to develop second-order mathematical relations. Four material parameters-${\frac{E_1}{E_2}}$, ${\frac{G_{12}}{E_2}}$, ${\frac{G_{23}}{E_2}}$ and ${\upsilon}_{12}$ are considered as the independent variables while simultaneously maximizing fundamental frequency, ${\lambda}_1$ and frequency separation between the $1^{st}$ two natural modes, ${\lambda}_{21}$. The optimal material combination for maximizing ${\lambda}_1$ and ${\lambda}_{21}$ is predicted by using a multi-objective GA. A general sensitivity analysis is conducted to understand the effect of each parameter on the desired response parameters.
