Multi-cell Segmentation of Glioblastoma Combining Marker-based Watershed and Elliptic Fitting Method in Fluorescence Microscope Image (마커 제어 워터셰드와 타원 적합기법을 결합한 다중 교모세포종 분할)

  • In order to analyze cell images, accurate segmentation of each cell is indispensable. However, the reality is that accurate cell image segmentation is not easy due to various noises, dense cells, and inconsistent shape of cells. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an algorithm that combines marker-based watershed segmentation and ellipse fitting method for glioblastoma cell segmentation. In the proposed algorithm, in order to solve the over-segmentation problem of the existing watershed method, the marker-based watershed technique is primarily performed through "seeding using local minima". In addition, as a second process, the concave point search using ellipse fitting for final segmentation based on the connection line between the concave points has been performed. To evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm, we compared three algorithms with other algorithms along with the calculation of segmentation accuracy, and we applied the algorithm to other cell image data to check the generalization and propose a solution.

Marker Assisted Selection of Brown Planthopper Resistance and Development of Multi-Resistance to Insect and Diseases in Rice (Oryza sativa L.) (DNA 마커를 이용한 벼멸구 저항성 선발 및 복합내병충성 벼 계통 육성)

  • The main objective of this study was to develop the multi-resistance lines to insects(brown planthopper; BPH, rice green leafhopper; GRH) and disease(blast; BL, bacterial blight; BB and rice stripe virus disease;RSV) with good grain quality and plant type by combining conventional breeding and marker assisted selection(MAS) and to eliminate the linkage drag effects between Bph1 gene and culm length, we conducted MAS of Bph1 gene in advanced backcross and double cross progenies. 'Nampyeong', 'Junam' and 'Milyang220' were used as the parent in this study. 'Milyang220' was used as the donor of brown planthopper resistance gene Bph1 with tall culm length. Two backcross progenies were developed using two recipients 'Nampyeong' carrying GRH resistance gene Grh3(t) with good grain appearance and 'Junam' harboring bacterial blight resistance gene Xa3 with short culm length. Two $BC_1$ generations were resulted from the backcrossing of the $F_1$ plants with recurrent parents 'Nampyeong' and 'Junam'. The second rounds of backcrossing($BC_2$) were derived from the cross of selected resistant $BC_1F_1$ plants based on heterozygous genotype of RM28493 linked to Bph1 gene. The double crossed population was constructed from the cross of between each heterozygous $BC_2F_1$ plants at RM28493 locus of '$Nampyeong^*3$ / Milyang220' and '$Junam^*3$ / Milyang220'., The homozygous alleles in Bph1 gene were selected using co-dominant DNA marker RM28493 in double crossed population. Eighty-five lines with multi-resistance to BL, BB, RSV, GRH and BPH were selected by bio-assay and MAS in generation of double crossing. The culm length, head rice ratio and yield of the selected multi resistance lines was ranged from 71 to 88 cm, from 51 to 93%, from 449 to 629 kg/10a. respectively. We can select a promising multi resistance line similar with 'Nampyeong' of major agronomic traits such as culm legnth, head rice ratio and yield. It was designated as Milyang265. Finally this study was developed the multi resistant varieties against to insects and diseases with the good grain quality 'Milyang265' by the advanced backcross and double cross combining MAS and it can be used as genetic resources of multi-resistance to insect and diseases in rice breeding programs.

  • This paper introduces development of multi-rotor system and vision based autonomous landing system. Multi-rotor platform is modeled by rigid body motion with Newton Euler concept. Also Multi-rotor platform is simulated and tuned by LQR control algorithm. Vision based Autonomous Landing system uses a single camera that is mounted Multi-rotor system. Augmented reality algorithm is used as marker detection algorithm and autonomous landing code is test with GCS for the precision landing.

An Implementation of Device Connection and Layout Recognition Techniques for the Multi-Display Contents Delivery System (멀티 디스플레이 콘텐츠 전송 시스템을 위한 디바이스 연결 및 배치 인식 기법의 구현)

  • According to the advancement of display devices, the multi-screen contents display environment is growing to be accepted for the display exhibition area. The objectives of this research are to find communications technology and to design an editor interface of contents delivery system for the larger and adaptive multi-display workspaces. The proposed system can find existence of display devices and get information without any additional tools like marker, and can recognize device layout with only web-cam and image processing technology. The multi-display contents delivery system is composed of devices with three roles; display device, editor device, and fixed server. The editor device which has the role of main control uses UPnP technology to find existence and receive information of display devices. extract appointed color in captured picture using a tracking library to recognize the physical layout of display devices. After the device information and physical layout of display devices are connected, the content delivery system allows the display contents to be sent to the corresponding display devices through WebSocket technology. Also the experimental results show the possibility of our device connection and layout recognition techniques can be utilized for the large spaced and adaptive multi-display applications.

Fast hierarchical image segmentation based on mathematical morphology (수리형태론에 기반한 고속 계층적 영상분할)

  • In this paper, we propose a fast hierarchical image segmentation using mathematical morphology. The proposed segmentation method is composed of five basic steps; multi-thresholding, open-close by reconstructing, mode operation, marker extraction, and region decision. In the multi-thresholding, an input image is simplified by Lloyd clustering algorithm. The multi-thresholded image then is more simplified by open-close by reconstruction and mode operating. In the region decision, to which region each uncertainty pixel belongs finally is decided by a watershed algorithm. Experimental results show that the quality of the segmentation results by the proposed method is not inferior to that by the conventional method and the average times elapsed by the proposed method can be reduced by one tghird of those elapsed by the conventional method.

  • With the 4th industry era, smart factories are emerging. In the era of multi-product small scale production, unmanned transportation vehicles are rapidly increasing in utilization of unmanned transportation vehicles that carry and arrange goods in the work space. The conventional unmanned vehicle detected its position by using the guided line method and the position based method for indoor location recognition and movement. This method has disadvantages of initial high cost and maintenance / maintenance. In this paper, to solve the disadvantages, the method of predicting the direct path of the unmanned vehicle through the Kalman filter is verified using the white LED marker of the warehouse and the position data and the image data of the white LED marker recognition image. Through this, the reliability of the linear movement which occupies the most part in the lattice structure is secured. It is also expected that the reliance on additional position sensors will also be reduced.

Implementation of Infant Learning Content using Augmented Reality (증강현실을 이용한 유아용 학습 콘텐츠의 구현)

  • Recently as AR(Augmented Reality) is focus of attention, AR is applied to various fields and is expected its valuable use. In this paper, we implemented the system based on Goblin XNA which supports high resolution model file and higher AR. We confirmed the relation of model output among the number of marker, the location and changes of camera distance. And we produced the infantile studying contents using AR and embodied. In implemented contents, we showed the familiar character to infants on each page marker. As the result of it, we can raise their concentration and at a time studying supporters can use the contents easily as well. Also we put 3 marker on each page of contents to recognize it smoothly in case one part of it is hidden by any obstacle. Finally we maximized the learning effect such as presence and immersion in studying through reinforcing 3D models according to the every situation.

A Study on the Marker Tracking for Virtual Construction Simulation based Mixed-Reality (융합현실 기반의 가상건설 시뮬레이션을 위한 마커 추적 방식에 관한 연구)

  • The main object of this study was to find a way to operate the marker for simulating a virtual construction using a MR(mixed reality) device. The secondary object was to find a way to extract the form-data from BIM data, and to represent the virtual object by the MR device. A tiny error of scale causes large errors of length because the architectural objects are very large. The scale was affected by the way that the camera of the MR device recognizes the marker. The method of installing and operating the marker causes length errors in the virtual object in the MR system. The experimental results showed that the error factor of the Virtual object's length was 0.47%. In addition, the distance between the markers can be decided through the results of an experiment for the multi-marker tracking system. The minimum distance between markers should be more than 5 m, and the error of length was approximately 23mm. If the represented virtual object must be less than 20mm in error, the particular mark should be installed within a 5 m radius of it. Based on this research, it is expected that utilization of the MR device will increase for the application of virtual construction simulations to construction sites.

Carbon Nanotubes Multi Electrodes Array to Image Capacitance for Label-free Discrimination of Lipid Region in Atherosclerosis ex vivo

  • Recently, there are a lot of diseases all around the world. Out of them, Atherosclerosis (AS) is the most common cause of stroke, cardiovascular mortality, and myocardial infarction. The macrophage-derived foam cell, which is formed by oxidized low-density lipoprotein (oxLDL), is the crucial marker for AS. In this study, we report a label-free capacitance imaging technique with multi-electrode array (MEA). The lipid-rich aorta arch lesions, which are derived from an apolipoprotein-E receptor-deficient (apoE-/-) mouse, exhibit higher capacitance than the lipid-free aorta arch, allowing the capacitance imaging of lipid region in atherosclerosis. To improve the contacts between MEA and tissue, polypyrrole(PPy)-coated multi walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) multi electrode array (PPy-MWNTs-MEA) was fabricated. Compared to TiN-MEA, PPy-MWNTs-MEA yielded lower contact impedance and better capacitance images. In addition, we have also developed a flexible MEA using single walled carbon nanotubes on a PET substrate. The lipid region could be discriminated in the capacitance images of the lipid-rich aorta arch lesions measured using flexible MEA, demonstrating a feasibility of in vivo applications.

Authoring Personal Virtual Studio Using Tangible Augmented Reality (탠저블 증강현실을 활용한 개인용 가상스튜디오 저작)

  • Nowadays personal users create a variety of multi-media contents and share them with others through various devices over the Internet since the concept of user created content (UCC) has been widely accepted as a new paradigm in today's multi-media market, which has broken the boundary of contents providers and consumers. This paradigm shift has also introduced a new business model that makes it possible for them to create their own multi-media contents for commercial purpose. This paper proposes a tangible virtual studio using augmented reality to author multi-media contents easily and intuitively for personal broadcasting and personal content generation. It provides a set of tangible interfaces and devices such as visual markers, cameras, movable and rotatable arms carrying cameras, and miniaturized set. They can offer an easy-to-use interface in an immersive environment and an easy switching mechanism between tangible environment and virtual environment. This paper also discusses how to remove inconsistency between real objects and virtual objects during the AR-enabled visualization with a context-adaptable tracking method. The context-adaptable tracking method not only adjusts the locations of invisible markers by interpolating the locations of existing reference markers, but also removes a jumping effect of movable virtual objects when their references are changed from one marker to another.
