  • In this study, the effects of crack depth and crack location on the in-plane free vibration of cracked frame structures have been investigated numerically by using the Finite Element Method. For the rectangular cross-section beam, a crack element is developed by using the principles of fracture mechanics. The effects of crack depth and location on the natural frequency of multi-bay and multi-store frame structures are presented in 3D graphs. The comparison between the present work and the results obtained from ANSYS shows a very good agreement.

  • This paper addresses multi-window Gabor frames with rational time-frequency product. Such issue was considered by Zibulski and Zeevi (Appl. Comput. Harmonic Anal. 4 (1997), 188-221) in terms of Zak transform matrix (so-called Zibuski-Zeevi matrix), and by many others. In this paper, we introduce of a new Zak transform matrix. It is different from Zibulski-Zeevi matrix, but more direct and convenient for our purpose. Using such Zak transform matrix we characterize rational time-frequency multi-window Gabor frames (Riesz bases and orthonormal bases), and Gabor duals for a Gabor frame. Some examples are also provided, which show that our Zak transform matrix method is efficient.

  • Multi-storey frame structures are frequently exposed to static and dynamic forces. Therefore analyses of static (buckling) and dynamic stability come into prominence for these structures. In this study, the effects of number of storey, static and dynamic load parameters, crack depth and crack location on the in-plane static and dynamic stability of cracked multi-storey frame structures subjected to periodic loading have been investigated numerically by using the Finite Element Method. A crack element based on the Euler beam theory is developed by using the principles of fracture mechanics. The equation of motion for the cracked multi-storey frame subjected to periodic loading is achieved by Lagrange's equation. The results obtained from the stability analysis are presented in three dimensional graphs and tables.

  • Although multi-frame super resolution algorithm has many merits but it demands too much calculation time. Researches have shown that image processing time can be reduced using a CUDA(Compute unified device architecture) which is one of GPGPU(General purpose computing on graphics processing unit) models. In this paper, we show that the processing time of multi-frame super resolution algorithm can be reduced by employing the CUDA. It was applied not to the whole parts but to the largest time consuming parts of the program. The simulation result shows that using a CUDA can reduce an operation time dramatically. Therefore it can be possible that multi-frame super resolution algorithm is implemented in real time by using libraries of image processing algorithms which are made by a CUDA.

  • This paper proposed a new fast multi-reference frame motion estimation algorithm. The proposed algorithm reduces search areas of motion estimation using a linear relation of motion vector with distance of each reference frame. New algorithm executes full search area motion estimation in reference frame 0 and reference frame 1. After that, search areas in reference frame 2, reference frame 3 and reference frame 4 are minimized by distance of each reference frame and results of motion estimation in reference frame 0 and reference frame 1. The proposed algorithm does not use a threshold value which is obstacle of hardware implementation and processing time schedule. Also, it reduced computation quantity of multi-reference motion estimation. Hardware implementation of multi-reference frame motion estimation is possible by these features. Simulation results show that PSNR drop and bitrate increase of proposed algorithm are lower than those of previous fast multi-reference frame motion estimation algorithm The number of computation of new algorithm is reduced 52.5% and quality of result is negligible when compared with full search area motion estimation which has 5 reference frames.

  • The purpose of this article is to depict the relationship between the frames of leadership and the dependent variables such as job satisfaction, respect from subordinates, promotion, and effective attainment of unit objectives. To attain this purpose, four types of multiple leadership frame, such as structural, human resources, political, and symbolic frames were surveyed through questionnaire and analyzed by SPSS. The major findings are : 1) In general, the symbolic frame is an important factor having a stronger influence on job satisfaction, respect from subordinates, promotion, and effective attainment of unit objectives. 2) In details, the human resources frame shows a positive effects on job satisfaction and respect; the structural frame on effective attainment of unit objectives; the political frame, to a certain degree, on promotion; and the symbolic frame, especially on respect from subordinates, promotion, and effective attainment of unit objectives.

  • Spacious experimental and numerical investigation has been conducted by researchers to increase the ductility and energy dissipation of concentrically braced frames. One of the most widely used strategies for increasing ductility and energy dissiption, is the use of energy-absorbing systems. In this regard, the cyclic behavior of a chevron bracing frame system equipped with multi-pipe dampers (CBF-MPD) was investigated through finite element method. The purpose of this study was to evaluate and improve the behavior of the CBF using MPDs. Three-dimensional models of the chevron brace frame were developed via nonlinear finite element method using ABAQUS software. Finite element models included the chevron brace frame and the chevron brace frame equipped with multi-pipe dampers. The chevron brace frame model was selected as the base model for comparing and evaluating the effects of multi-tube dampers. Finite element models were then analyzed under cyclic loading and nonlinear static methods. Validation of the results of the finite element method was performed against the test results. In parametric studies, the influence of the diameter parameter to the thickness (D/t) ratio of the pipe dampers was investigated. The results indicated that the shear capacity of the pipe damper has a significant influence on determining the bracing behavior. Also, the results show that the corresponding displacement with the maximum force in the CBF-MPD compared to the CBF, increased by an average of 2.72 equal. Also, the proper choice for the dimensions of the pipe dampers increased the ductility and energy absorption of the chevron brace frame.

  • Recently, growing attention has been paid to multi-GPU rendering to support real-time high-quality rendering at high resolution. In order to attain high performance in real-time multi-GPU rendering, great care needs to be taken to reduce the overhead of data transfer among GPUs and frame composition. This paper presents a novel multi-GPU algorithm that greatly enhances split frame rendering with implicit query-based synchronization. In order to support implicit synchronization in frame composition, we further present a message queue-based scheduling algorithm. We carried out an experiment to evaluate our algorithm, and found that our algorithm improved rendering performance up to 200% more than previously existing algorithms.

  • To elucidate the differences in the collapse behavior between a single-story beam-column assembly and multi-story frame, two 1/3-scale two-bay composite frames, including a single-story composite beam-column assembly and a three-story composite sub-frame, were designed and quasi-statically tested. The load-displacement responses, failure modes, and internal force development of the two frames were analyzed and compared in detail. Furthermore, the resistance mechanisms of the two specimens were explored, and the respective contributions of different load-resisting mechanisms to the total resistances were quantitatively separated to gain deeper insights. The experimental tests indicated that Vierendeel action was present in the two-dimensional multi-story frames, which led to an uneven internal force distribution among the three stories. The collapse resistance of TSDWA-3S in the flexural stage was not significantly increased by the structural redundancy provided by the additional story, as compared to that of TSDWA-1S. Although the development of the load response was similar in the two specimens at flexural stage, the collapse mechanisms of the multi-story composite frame were much more complicated than those of the single-story beam-column assembly, and the combined action between stories was critical in determining the internal force redistribution and rebalancing of the remaining structure.

  • This research focuses on structural stability of the multi-aerial platform. In this study, we conduct structural analysis for the lower structures such as sub frame, out-trigger and chassis frame, by using a universal structural analysis program NASTRAN based on 3D CAD data, material properties, load conditions and boundary conditions. We confirm the position of local stress exceeding the yield strength, through structural analysis of 4 cases for load conditions. As the results, it is possible to relax stress concentration in a way such as changing the thickness, reinforcing the material of the lower frames.
