  • Various studies have been performed to coordinate robots in transporting objects and different artificial intelligence algorithms have been considered in this field. In this paper, we investigate and solve Multi-Robot Transportation problem by using a combined auction algorithm. In this algorithm each robot, as an agent, can perform the auction and allocate tasks. This agent tries to clear the auction by studying different states to increase payoff function. The algorithm presented in this paper has been applied to a multi-robot system where robots are responsible for transporting objects. Using this algorithm, robots are able to improve their actions and decisions. To show the excellence of the proposed algorithm, its performance is compared with three heuristic algorithms by statistical simulation approach.

  • This work focused on the novel numerical tool for the bending responses of carbon nanotube reinforced composites (CNTRC) beams. The higher order shear deformation beam theory (HSDT) is used to determine strain-displacement relationships. A new exponential function was introduced into the carbon nanotube (CNT) volume fraction equation to show the effect of the CNT distribution on the CNTRC beams through displacements and stresses. To determine the mechanical properties of CNTRCs, the rule of the mixture was employed by assuming that the single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs)are aligned and distributed in the matrix. The governing equations were derived by Hamilton's principle, and the mathematical models presented in this work are numerically provided to verify the accuracy of the present theory. The effects of aspect ratio (l/d), CNT volume fraction (Vcnt), and the order of exponent (n) on the displacement and stresses are presented and discussed in detail. Based on the analytical results. It turns out that the increase of the exponent degree (n) makes the X-beam stiffer and the exponential CNTs distribution plays an indispensable role to improve the mechanical properties of the CNTRC beams.

  • Energy conservation is a vital issue in wireless sensor networks. Recently, employing mobile sinks for data gathering become a pervasive trend to deal with this problem. The sink can follow stochastic or pre-defined paths; however the controlled mobility pattern nowadays is taken more into consideration. In this method, the sink moves across the network autonomously and changes its position based on the energy factors. Although the sink mobility would reduce nodes' energy consumption and enhance the network lifetime, the overhead caused by topological changes could waste unnecessary power through the sensor field. In this paper, we proposed EEDARS, an energy-efficient dual-sink algorithm with role switching mechanism which utilizes both static and mobile sinks. The static sink is engaged to avoid any periodic flooding for sink localization, while the mobile sink adaptively moves towards the event region for data collection. Furthermore, a role switching mechanism is applied to the protocol in order to send the nearest sink to the recent event area, hence shorten the path. This algorithm could be employed in event-driven and multi-hop scenarios. Analytical model and extensive simulation results for EEDARS demonstrate a significant improvement on the network metrics especially the lifetime, the load and the end-to-end delay.

  • We discussed a quantitative structure-activity relationships (QSAR) technique on incomplete data set. We proposed a new solver that used 2 kinds of multi-layer neural networks. One is to compensate the defect data, and another is to evaluate the QSAR. The solver can predict the defects in model QSAR data. By using them, we get very high precision QSAR. It is 5-10 times higher than that of a traditional method. However, in case of anti-cancer Carboquone, the prediction is not so complete. It was about O(3) wrong than the model calculation. The predicted values would have rather large error. It is caused by noisy observations of Carboquone. However, if we used the uncertain predictions, new data are included in QSAR. If not, they were omitted. The effect would not be little. Therefore, we evaluated the QSAR. The results are contrary to the expectation, are not so wrong. We believe that the wrong effect is suppressed by including information of new data.

  • This paper proposes a MATLAB Simulink simulator for photovoltaic (PV) systems. The main contribution of this work is the utilization of a two-diode model to represent a PV cell. This model is known to have better accuracy at low irradiance levels which allows for a more accurate prediction of PV system performance. To reduce computational time, the input parameters are reduced to four and the values of $R_p$ and $R_s$ are estimated by an efficient iteration method. Furthermore, all of the inputs to the simulator are information available on a standard PV module datasheet. The simulator supports large array simulations that can be interfaced with MPPT algorithms and power electronic converters. The accuracy of the simulator is verified by applying the model to five PV modules of different types (multi-crystalline, mono-crystalline, and thin-film) from various manufacturers. It is envisaged that the proposed work can be very useful for PV professionals who require a simple, fast and accurate PV simulator to design their systems.

  • This paper studied the cement efficiency factor (k factor) of high calcium Class F fly ash. This k factor represents a unit of fly ash with efficiency equivalent to k unit of cement. The high calcium Class F fly ash was used to replace cement in concrete. The modified Bolomey's law with linear relationship was used for the analysis of the result of compressive strength, cement to water ratio (c/w) and fly ash to water ratio (f/w) by using the multi-linear regression to determine the k factor and other constants in the equations. The results of analysis were compared with the results from other researcher and showed that the k factor of high calcium Class F fly ash depends on the fineness of fly ash, replacement level and curing age. While the amount of CaO content in Class F fly ash not evident. Furthermore, necessary criteria and variables for the determination of the k factor including the use of the k factor in concrete mix design containing fly ash were proposed.

  • A new conception of public-key cryptography MEPKC, Petri net based Multi-stage-Encryption Public-Key Cryptography, has been proposed in onder to guarantee stronger network communication security. Different from an ordinary public-key cryptography that opens only a single public key to the public, MEPKC opens a key-generator that can generate multiple encryption keys and uses these keys to encrypt a plain text to a cipher text stage by stage. In this paper, we propose the methods how to carry out the encryption operations. First, we describe how to design a hash function H that is used to conceal the encryption keys from attack. Then, given with a key-generator (a Petri net supposed to possess a large number of elementary T-invariants), we discuss how to randomly generate a series of encryption keys, the elementary T-invariants. Finally, we show how to use these encryption keys to encrypt a plain text to a cipher text by applying a private key cryptography, say DES.

  • Objective: Colorectal cancer (CRC) and the metabolic syndrome (MetS) are both on the rise in Malaysia. A multi-centric case-control study was conducted from December 2009 to January 2011 to determine any relationship between the two. Methods: Patients with confirmed CRC based on colonoscopy findings and cancer free controls from five local hospitals were assessed for MetS according to the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) definition. Each index case was matched for age, gender and ethnicity with two controls (140: 280). Results: MetS among cases was highly prevalent (70.7%), especially among women (68.7%). MetS as an entity increased CRC risk by almost three fold independently (OR=2.61, 95%CI=1.53-4.47). In men MetS increased the risk of CRC by two fold (OR=2.01, 95%CI, 1.43-4.56), demonstrating an increasing trend in risk with the number of Mets components observed. Conclusion: This study provides evidence fora positive association between the metabolic syndrome and colorectal cancer. A prospective study on the Malaysian population is a high priority to confirm these findings.

  • We propose a neuron computer for tracking motion of particles in multi-dimensional space. The neuron computer is constructed of neural networks and their connections, which is a simplified model of the brain. The neuron computer is assemblage of neural networks, it includes a control unit, and the actions of the unit are represented by instructions. We designed a neuron computer to recognize and predict motion of particles. The recognition unit is constructed of neuron-array, encoder, and control part. The neuron-array is a model of the retina, and particles crease an image on the array, where the image is binary. The encoder picks one particle from the array, and translates the particle's location to Cartesian coordinates, which is scaled in [0, 1] intervals. Next, the encoder picks another particle, and does same process. The ordering and reduction of complex processes are executed by instructions. The instructions are held in the control part. The prediction unit is constructed of a multi-layer neural network and a feedback loop, where real time learning is executed. The particles' future locations are forecasted by coordinate values. The neuron computer can chase maximum 100 particles that take evasions.

  • In the present study, vibration analysis of double bonded micro sandwich cylindrical shells with saturated porous core and carbon/boron nitride nanotubes (CNT/BNNT) reinforced composite face sheets under multi-physical loadings based on Cooper-Naghdi theory is investigated. The material properties of the micro structure are assumed to be temperature dependent, and each of the micro-tubes is placed on the Pasternak elastic foundations, and mechanical, moisture, thermal, electrical, and magnetic forces are effective on the structural behavior. The distributions of porous materials in three distributions such as non-linear non-symmetric, nonlinear-symmetric, and uniform are considered. The relationship including electro-magneto-hydro-thermo-mechanical loadings based on modified couple stress theory is obtained and moreover the governing equations of motion using the energy method and the Hamilton's principle are derived. Also, Navier's type solution is also used to solve the governing equations of motion. The effects of various parameters such as material length scale parameter, temperature change, various distributions of nanotube, volume fraction of nanotubes, porosity and Skempton coefficients, and geometric parameters on the natural frequency of double bonded micro sandwich cylindrical shells are investigated. Increasing the porosity and the Skempton coefficients of the core in micro sandwich cylindrical shell lead to increase the natural frequency of the structure. Cylindrical shells and porous materials in the industry of filters and separators, heat exchangers and coolers are widely used and are generally accepted today.
