For an orbit transfer in a space exploration mission, a solid or liquid rocket booster is included at the last stage of the launch vehicle. During the orbit transfer, thrust misalignment can cause a severe orbit error. Three axis attitude control or spin stabilization can be implemented to minimize the error. Spin stabilization technique has advantages in structural simplicity and lightness. One of ways to apply the spin stabilization to the payload is to include a spin table system in the launch vehicle. In this paper, effect of the spin table system on separation dynamics of the payload is analyzed. Simple model of the spin table to mimic basic functions is designed and simulation environment is established with the model. Effect of the spin table is tested by evaluating separation dynamics of a payload with and without the spin table. Analysis on tolerance effect of separation spring constant on separation dynamics of a payload is conducted.

Recently, there has been an increasing demand for SAR satellite as it can be operated regardless of the weather condition. In general, main reflector of the SAR is formed of multiple deployable panels to increase performance in the constrained payload envelope. By nature, deployable structure lacks structural stiffness and it is vulnerable to external disturbances and excitation. In particular, SAR satellites may have high levels of vibration occurring at the antenna reflecting surface due to higher angular rate requirements. During image capturing it is important to keep high surface accuracy of the reflector for the quality of images. In this research, a performance degradation of deployable SAR antenna due to structural deformation is analyzed. Panels for main reflectors are assumed to be flexible structures and multi-body simulation environment is established. Then, deflection of the panel is calculated while the satellite performs maneuvers. In addition, antenna gain and beam pointing error are analyzed to determine how these deflections affect antenna performance and mission.

Currently, the development of evaluation technology for vibration and shock load characteristics and spent nuclear fuel structural integrity under normal conditions of transport is being conducted in the Republic of Korea. This is the first such research conducted in the Republic of Korea and, thus, previous international studies need to be investigated and will be referred to in the ongoing project. Before 2000, several studies related to measurement of vibration and shock loads on spent nuclear fuel were conducted in the US. US national research institutes conducted uniaxial fuel assembly shaker tests, concrete block tests, and multi-axis fuel assembly tests between 2009 and 2016. In 2017, multi-modal transportation tests including road, sea, and rail transport were also performed by research institutes from the US, Spain and the Republic of Korea. Therefore, test preparation procedures, acceleration and strain measurement results, and finite-element and multi-body dynamics analysis were investigated. Based on the measured strain data, the preliminary conclusion was obtained that the measured strain was too small to cause damage to spent nuclear fuel rods. However, this conclusion is a preliminary conclusion that only reviews part of the results; a detailed review is being conducted in the US. The investigation of international studies on spent nuclear fuel structural integrity tests considering vibration and shock loads under normal conditions of transport in the US will be useful data for the project being conducted in the Republic of Korea.

The rebar factory production process involves the repetitive bending of rebars. Therefore, the fatigue failure of the rebar bending machine needs to be considered. In this paper, fatigue analysis of the rebar machine was performed using the commercial software DAFUL, which is based on MFBD (Multi Flexible Body Dynamics). The rotating roller, fixing roller and rebar were modeled by the finite element method. The rebar bending process is simulated and the mechanical stresses on the rollers are calculated. Structural analysis of the rebar bending roller was performed using the maximum bending angle of $180^{\circ}$ and maximum processing rebar diameter of ${\Phi}19mm$. Then, for fatigue analysis, the S-N curve of STD-11 was. The fatigue life of rollers is estimated by modified Goodman diagram. The fatigue life range of the rotating roller is $2.99961{\times}10^5{\sim}1{\times}10^8$ while that of the fixed roller is $2.53142{\times}10^5{\sim}1{\times}10^8$. STD-11 has an infinite life cycle after $1{\times}10^8$. Therefore, the rollers of the rebar bending machine may be expected to suffer fatigue failure. Thus, we performed a parameter study of fatigue life according to various axial radii of the fixed roller and rotating roller, and redesign of the rebar bending machine. Consequently, the axial radius of the fixed roller and rotating roller was found to be 35~37.5mm and 30~35mm, respectively, and an infinite life cycle was confirmed at these.

To improve the energy efficiency and ride quality of an electric vehicle, it is highly desirable to develop a lightweight suspension system with high travel ratio. Air suspension systems with a rubber tube are often considered optimal for such requirements. In this study, a new lightweight air suspension system with high travel ratio was developed for use in electric vehicles. Furthermore, an FE-based multi-flexible-body dynamics (MFBD) model of the suspension system was developed as a tool for improving the design of an actual suspension system. The MFBD model includes the FE modeling of the rubber tube module as well as other essential parts of the air suspension system. The system parameters for the model were obtained from various experiments. The validity of the developed MFBD model was shown through a comparison between the experimental results and the simulation results.

A control algorithm for a 100 kW wind turbine is designed in this study. The wind turbine is operating as a variable speed variable pitch (VSVP) status. Also, this wind turbine is a permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) Type. For the medium capacity wind turbine considered in this study, it was found that the optimum tip speed ratios to achieve the maximum power coefficients varied with wind speeds. Therefore a commercial blade element momentum theory and multi-body dynamics based program was implemented to consider the variation of aerodynamic coefficients with respect to Reynolds numbers and to find out the power and thrust coefficients with respect tip speed ratio and blade pitch angles. In the end a basic power controller was designed for below rated, transition and above rated regions, and a load reduction algorithm was designed to reduce tower vibration by the nacelle motion. As a result, damage equivalent Load (DEL) of tower fore-aft has been reduced by 32%. From dynamic simulations in the commercial program, the controller was found to work properly as designed. Experimental validation of the control algorithm will be done in the future.

In this study, a vehicle dynamic analysis and roller rig test were performed to evaluate the applicability of a suspensionless composite bogie to railway vehicles. A vehicle dynamic analysis was carried out under different rubber bushing stiffness values. The stiffness of the rubber bushing that plays a role in guiding wheel sets was varied in the range of 10-100 MN/m, in 10-MN/m steps. Based on the results, the composite bogie with a rubber bushing stiffness of more than 40 MN/m satisfied the design requirements. In addition, a rubber bushing with a stiffness of 81 MN/m was fabricated, and a roller rig test was performed. Based on the test results, the vehicle equipped with the composite bogie had a critical speed of 363 km/h, which agreed with the simulation result within an error of 10%.

In this study, we performed a simulation of the dynamic response of a multibody system to calculate the tension acting on wire ropes connecting floating cranes and a heavy cargo such as a Giga Block weighing over 5000 tons when the cargo is salvaged using parallel connected floating cranes. In this simulation, we supposed that the motion of the floating cranes, barge ship, and heavy cargo has 6 degrees of freedom and that the interaction is determined by constraints among them. In addition, we considered independent hydrostatic and hydrodynamic forces as external forces acting on the floating cranes and barge ship. The simulation result can be a basis for verifying the safety of construction methods in which heavy cargo is salvaged by parallel connected floating cranes, and it can also be used to guide the development of such construction methods.

One of common challenges in designing modern production machines is realizing high speed motion without sacrificing accuracy. To address this challenge it is necessary to maximize the stiffness of the mechanical structure and the control system with consideration on the main disturbance input, cutting forces. This paper presents analysis technologies for realizing high stiffness in production machines. First, CAE analysis techniques to evaluate the dynamic stiffness of a machine structure and a new method to construct the physical machine model for servo controller simulations are demonstrated. Second, cutting forces generated in milling processes are analyzed to evaluate their effects on the mechatronics system. In the effort to investigate the interaction among the structure, controller, and process, a flexible multi-body dynamics simulation method is implemented on a magnetic bearing stage as an example. The presented technologies can provide better understandings on the mechatronics system and help realizing high stiffness production machines.
The effect of wake on the performance and load of a downstream wind turbine on a floating platform is investigated with a computer simulation in this study. The floating platform consists of a square platform having a dimension of $200m{\times}200m$ with four 2 MW wind turbines installed. For the simulation, only two wind turbines in series with the wind direction were considered and the floating platform was assumed to be stationary due to its large size. Also, a commercial program based on multi-body dynamics and eddy viscosity wake model was used. It was found from simulation that the power from the downstream wind turbine could be reduced by more than 50% of the power from the upstream wind turbine. However, due to the increase in the turbulence intensity, the power is greater but more fluctuating than the power produced by a wind turbine experiencing the same wind speed without wake. Also, it was found that the load of the down stream wind turbine be comes lower than the load of the upstream wind turbine but higher than the load of a wind turbine experiencing the same wind speed without wake.
