A Study on the Case of Application of a Process at the Construction Stage of the Color Planning at the Construction Site of Muju Taekwondo Park (무주 태권도원 현장 색채계획 시공단계 프로세스 적용사례연구)

  • In order to maintain and protect professionalism in color planning, the present study examined the process at the time of realization of color through color inspection and supervision in the actual construction site and suggested plans for improvement. Reflecting the characteristics that the governing body of the construction site is not a private person but an organization, the present study aims to provide institutional measures so that the supervisor of color construction at the actual site of construction can propose concerns related to proper construction at the right time, and the matters cannot be decided from the perspective of a layman. The institutional measures are proposed through the case of application of a process at the construction stage of the color planning at the construction site of Muju Taekwondo Park. First, the process clarified where the responsibility lies by specifying special conditions concerning color inspection on the field guide and color contract. Second, the sample for building materials was selected after obtaining it from a company capable of supply and is appropriate for the planned unit cost so that it could play an important role in realizing colors at the stage of basic design. Third, the process of construction was ensured not by temporary selection of colors but by continuous approval of colors in consideration of the conditions of construction site through letter of approval of color at each stage and point of time. Fourth, coordination of various color elements of other fields including landscape, interior, and electricity ensured construction of the whole structure in one color concept. Fifth, color inspection through the mock up of the site will minimize erroneous construction and reconstruction and prevent decrease in productivity. Sixth, this study also suggested more comfortable and positive color environment through evaluation by experts and users. The researcher of this study expects that color experts actively participate in the stage of construction to contribute to improvement of the color environment.

  • Cultural tourism product that has its theme of Taekwondo which is the representative traditional martial arts of Korea possessing over 50 million people doing Taekwondo worldwide has high marketability and usefulness. By this, the researcher is trying to implement design development expecting transition to new perception on the cultural product by qualitative growth of productivity quality, popularization of crafted products, comsumer oriented product development by deciding cultural product production fit for Taekwondo concept based on the participation of tourism activity of Taekwondo institute by visitors and tourists of Taekwondo institute. Firstly, storybook containing spirit and story of Taekwondo, secondly general rack for pencils or candles, thirdly mini memo in universal price which is practical and sophisticated. With the perception of necessity and possibility to use Taekwondo-related cultural tourist product, by aggressively using the product as the souvenir of Muju Taekwondo institute to promote Taekwondo, we hope that the product will help to create value, which differs from existing cultural tourist products.

Study on the Amphibia Fauna in Tokyusan National Park -Effects of Amphibia Habitat by Large Construction Works- (덕유산 국립공원의 양서류상 -대형 건설 공사가 양서류 서식에 미치는 영향-)

  • The census of Amphibia fauna in Tokyusan National Park was carried out during April 10, 1993 and August 8 - August 9, 1993 at the areas of construction field of golf course in Muju Resort and the Chibong. There were 6 species of 5 genera on the 4 families, 2 orders of Amphibia in Tokyusan National Park including Hynobius leechii. Onychodactylus fischeri, and Bufo bufo gargarizans which were announced the specific wild animals with the object of conserving by The Ministry of Environment. At the area of construction field of golf course in Muju Resort, there were 5 species of Amphibia observed as Hynobius leechii, Bombina orientalis, Bufo bufo gargarizans, Rana nigromaculata, and Rana dybowskii. Onychodactylus fischeri and Rana dyhowskii were observed at the Chibong area. The Chibong inwhich was observed 9 relatively large number of individuals of Onychodactylus fischeri was revealed as an environmentally sound habitat to Onychodactylus fischeri. Whereas in the construction field of golf course, there were intended to diminishing species and population size rapidly by progress with construction works. Therefore the large construction works such as golf couse and ski slopes which were concerning to deteriorate the natural environment should be restrain in National Park for animal diversity conservative.

Aboveground Biomass Estimation of Pinus rigida Stands in Muju Region (무주지역 리기다소나무 임분의 지상부 바이오매스 추정)

  • The objective of this study was to develop allometric equations and stem density and biomass expansion factor for Pinus rigida stands in Muju region. The coefficient of determination of the allometric equations in independent variable (dbh) and dependent variable (biomass) was more than 95% with the exception of leaf (78%) and branch(83%). The total biomass was $102Mg\;ha^{-1}$ ($65.9 Mg\;ha^{-1}$ from stem wood, $9.5Mg\;ha^{-1}$ from stem bark, $19.6Mg\;ha^{-1}$ from branch and $7.0Mg\;ha^{-1}$ from leaf). Biomass distribution ratio of Pinus rigida stands showed the highest in stem wood with 64.6%, followed by the branch with 19.2%, stem bark with 9.3% and the leaf with 6.9%. The results indicated that the stem density $(g/cm^{3})$ and the biomass expansion factor were 0.453 and 1.344, respectively.

Safety estimation of check dam in Muju region according to debris yield (토사유출에 따른 무주지역 사방댐의 안전성 평가)

  • In this study, the probability of exceeding capacity for 4 check dams in Muju mountain region have been estimated. From the results, optimum design of check dam and safety according to wild fire have been discussed. Reliability model has been established by using MSDPM for calculating debris yield to estimate the probability of exceeding capacity of check dam. Probability of exceeding capacity for 4 check dams has been estimated according to maximum rainfall intensity of return periods (10year, 50year, 100year, and 200year). It was found that 1 check dam of Samga-ri basin and 1 check dam of Jeungsan-ri basin were designed by overestimation and 61% and 47% of capacity should be reduced, respectively. Furthermore, probability of exceeding capacity according to burned area has been estimated and compared. It was found that check dam of Sanga-ri basin is the weakest for the wild fire effect in this study area.

Estimation of Carbon Storage for Pinus rigida Stands in Muju (무주지역 리기다소나무 임분에 대한 탄소저장량 평가)

  • This study aimed to determine the total amount of carbon stored in the aboveground, belowground tree biomass, dead trees, and organic matter in the forest floor and soil of the 36-year-old Pinus rigida stands in Muju. A total of three plots were selected to measure the carbon stored in live trees, dead trees, forest floor, and soil. Results showed that the carbon stocks of P. rigida stands amounted to 51.0 ton C/ha in aboveground biomass and 29.6 ton C/ha in belowground biomass. The distribution ratios of carbon stocks were as follows: 41.0% in stem wood, 36.8% in roots, 12.8% in branches, 6.0% in stem bark and 3.4% in foliage. The carbon stocks in dead tree amounted to 0.65 ton C/ha while it was 6.40 ton C/ha in organic matter in forest floor. The total amount of carbon stocks found in soil was 51.62 ton C/ha: 20.27 ton C/ha at 0~10 cm depth, 12.83 ton C/ha at 10~20 cm depth, 12.27 ton C/ha at 20~30 cm depth, and 6.24 ton C/ha at 30~50 cm depth. It was also observed that, as the soil depth increased, the soil carbon stocks tended to decrease. Results showed that the total amount of carbon stocks of P. rigida stands in Muju was 139.27 ton C/ha; the highest portion of the cumulative carbon stocks was found to be in soil at 37.1%, followed by the aboveground biomass with 36.6%, belowground biomass with 21.3%, forest floor with 4.6 % and dead trees with 0.5 %. This study is expected to provide forest managers accurate estimates of carbon stored in the habitat of P. rigida stands in Muju.

  • There are human casualties that caused by slope-stability related disasters such as landslide and debris flow during typhoon and rainy season every year in Korea. These disaster sites can be analyzed systematically using digital topographic data and aerial photogrammetry. In this study, geographical factors such as slope degree, geology, height, and soil depth are analyzed in four landslide-disaster sites from Muju, Jinan, and Jangsu County based on digital elevation maps generated by ArcGIS. Each site showed different characteristics in geology and geography and it is found that GIS can be utilized for the visualization of steep-slope failure areas.

  • 남십자자리(Crux)는 현재 북반구 중위도 지역에서는 관측할 수 없는 별자리지만 고대 중국의 전통 별자리 체계가 성립되던 시기인 춘추전국시대만 하더라도 지평선 부근에서 쉽게 관측할 수 있는 별자리였다. 우리는 세차운동 계산을 통해 남십자자리가 출몰성에서 전몰성으로 변했음을 확인하였고, 고대 중국의 문헌 기록과 성표, 성도의 별자리 그림 분석을 통해 남십자자리의 밝은 4개의 별이 중국의 전통 별자리인 고루성(庫褸星)과 일치함을 확인하였다. 또한 남십자자리가 관측되던 시기와 관측되지 않던 시기에 각각 작성되었던 성표와 성도 분석을 통해 고루성의 별자리 모양이 점차 변형되어 갔음을 제시하였다. 마지막으로 서양의 천문기술이 중국에 전해 진 이후 진행된 동서양의 별자리 상호 비교 및 동정 결과들을 분석하여 중국의 전통 별자리 체계에서 어떻게 고루성이 완전히 배제되게 되었는지에 대한 논의를 포함, 본 연구의 초기 결과들을 발표할 예정이다.

Modal Testing on a High Head Pump/Turbine Runner (고낙차 수력 펌프/터빈 런너에 대한 모우드 실험)

  • This paper describes results of modal testing for a high head pump-turbine runner of the Muju pumped storage power plant. The head of the pump-turbine is 601 m and the outside diameter of its runner is 4,410 mm. The modal testing was done for two conditions : 1) the runner in air ; 2) the runner in water. For both conditions, obtained are natural frequencies, corresponding mode shapes and damping ratios. From the testing, it is found that the natural frequencies of the pump-turbine runner in water is reduced approximately 40 % due to additional mass effect of the water.

  • Patient with facial paralysis may develop opthalmic complications. Poor eyelid closure, ectopion and lagophthalmos place the patinet at increased risk for development of corneal problems such as epitheilail defects, stromal thinning, bacterial infection, and even perforation. Inilital treatment should be conservative and include the use of ocular lubricants and taping of the lower eyelid into the proper position. Surgical intervention may be required in patients who have failed medical therapy or in whom the facial paralysis is not expected to improve. Gold weight implantation in upper eyelid and lower lid tightening in lower eyelid has become a popular procedure to correct upper eyelid retraction and lower eyelid laxity and to improve corneal coverage. We describe technique for placement of a gold weight in the upper lid, with attention of the maintenance of symmetric eyelid crease and susture canthopexy to correct malpositioned lower eyelid.
