The numerical program has been developed for the purpose of the complicate geometries application using CIP method. The non-staggered, non-orthogonal, and unstructured grid system can be also used for the various geometries in the program. For validating CIP solver, the lid-driven cavity flow and solitary wave propagation flow are carried out. Test results show a good agreement with the verified results. The dynamic solver was used for the behavior of moving body. Interface process between the two solvers is introduced. The research was performed on the flow problem around torpedo and log and the flow problem in a tank in order to analyze the three phase flow problem Although the comparison to the verified results was not quantitatively performed, the trend of the results was reasonable.
A dynamic simulation on the missile staging system is conducted with numerical techniques. Both Euler equations and Navier-Stokes equations are numerically solved respectively. The dynamic simulation of two moving bodies is fully integrated into the computational fluid dynamics solution procedure. The Chimera grid scheme is applied in this simulation for unsteady supersonic flow analysis with dynamic modeling. The objective of the study is to investigate the problem pertaining to possible unstability in missile staging. In addition, the computational comparison between in viscid and viscid flow solvers is also performed in this study.
Because an electric railway vehicle is a large scale moving load, it can cause various kinds of power quality problems in the railroad power system. The power quality impacts are considered as the strong instantaneous stresses to the related power systems and can cause an accelerating aging and a malfunction of the power supplying components. Therefore, it is necessary to detect the small and intermittent symptoms mixed in the voltage waveform. However, they cannot be detected by the triggering functions of the existing power analyzers installed in the railway systems. This paper will examine the drawback of some fast detection tools and propose an advanced detecting and analyzing method based on a combined TEO and STFT algorithm.

In recent years, the power demand has been increasing steadily and the occurrence of maximum power demand has been moving from the summer season to the winter season in Korea. And since the control of electric power supply and demand is more important under those situations, a micro-grid system began to emerge as a keyword for the sTable operation of electric power system. A micro-gird power system is composed of various kinds of distributed generators(DG) such as small diesel generator, wind turbine, photo-voltaic generator and energy storage system(ESS). This paper introduces a method to determine the optimal capacities of the distributed generators which are installed in a stand-alone type of microgrid power system based on the fundamental proportion of diesel generator. At first, the fundamental proportion of diesel generator will be determined by changing from 0 to 50 percent. And then we will optimize the capacities of renewable energy resources and ESS according to load patterns. Lastly, after recalculating the capacity of ESS with consideration for SOC constraints, the optimal capacities of distributed generators will be decided.

In this study, a fluid-structure interaction (FSI) analysis system has been developed in order to evaluate the turbine cascade performance with blade structural deformation effect. Relative movement of the rotor with respect to stator is reflected by modeling independent two computational domains. To consider the deformed position of rotor airfoil, dynamic moving grid method is applied. Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations with one equation Spalart-Allmaras and two-equation SST $k-{\varepsilon}$ turbulence models are solved to predict unsteady fluid dynamic loads. A fully implicit time marching scheme based on the Newmark direct integration method with high artificial damping is used to compute the fluid-structure interaction problem. Cascade performance evaluations for different elastic axis positions are presented and compared each other. It is importantly shown that the predicted aerodynamic performance considering structural deformation effect of blade can show some deviations compared to the data generally computed from rigid blade configurations and the position of elastic axis also tend to give sensitive effect.
In order to study unsteady aerodynamic loads on high speed trains passing by each other at the speed of 350km/h, three-dimensional flow fields around trains during the crossing event are numerically simulated using the three-dimensional Euler equations. The Roe's FDS with MUSCL interpolation is employed to simulate wave phenomena properly. An efficient moving grid system based on domain decomposition techniques is developed to analyze the unsteady flow field induced by the restricted motion of a train on a rail. The numerical simulations of the trains passing by on the double-track are carried out to study the effect of the train nose-shape, the train length and the existence of tunnel when the crossing event occur. Unsteady aerodynamic loads side force and drag force-acting on the train during the crossing are numerically predicted and anlayzed. It is found that the strength of the side force mainly depends on the nose-shape, and that of drag force on tunnel existence. And it is observed that the push-pull like impulsive force successively acts on each car and acts in different directions between the neighborhood cars. The maximum change of the impulsive force reaches about 3 tons. These aerodynamic force data are absolutely necessary for the evaluation of the stability of the high speed multi-car train. The results also indicate the effectiveness of the present numerical method for the simulation of unsteady flow field induced by the bodies in the relative motion.
Flow with moving free surfaces is analyzed with an the Eulerian coordinate system. This study proposes a semi-implicit filling algorithm using VOF in which the PLIC (Piecewise Linear Interface Calculation) -type interface reconstruction method and the donor-acceptor-type front advancing scheme are adopted. Also, a new scheme using extrapolation of the stream function is proposed to find the velocity of the node that newly enters the computational domain. The effect of wall boundary conditions on the flow field and temperature field is examined by numerically solving a two-dimensional casting process.
The nonlinear free-surface motions interacting with a floating body were investigated using the Moving Particle Semi-implicit (MPS) method proposed by Koshizuka and Oka [6] for incompressible flow. In the numerical method, more realistic Lagrangian moving particles were used for solving the flow field instead of the Eulerian approach with a grid system. Therefore, the convection terms and time derivatives in the Navier-Stokes equation can be calculated more directly, without any numerical diffusion, instabilities, or topological failure. The MPS method was applied to a numerical simulation of predicting the efficiency of floating-type breakwater interacting with waves.
Objective signs are everywhere that the stationary energy storage market is growing up quickly. The use of distributed resources such as solar photovoltaics and electric vehicles are expanding at a rapid pace, creating technical challenges for the distribution system that will require energy storage and a new generation of software to address. This paper is intended for distribution utility managers and executives and makes the following points: ${\bullet}$ Utility-integrated (as opposed to merely grid-connected) energy storage projects represent a distinct, new wave of industry growth that is just getting underway and is required to manage distributed energy resources moving forward. ${\bullet}$ Utilities and the energy storage industry have important roles to lower risk in adopting this technology - thereby enabling this wave of growth. ${\circ}$ The industry must focus on engineering energy storage for adoption at scale - including the creation and support of software open standards -both to drive down costs and to limit technology and supplier risk for utilities. ${\circ}$ Utilities need to take a program-based, rather than a project- based, approach to this resource to best balance cost and risk as they procure and implement energy storage. By working together to drive down costs and manage risk, utilities and their suppliers can lay the energy storage foundation for a new, more digital distributed electricity system.
The gridless (or meshfree) methods, such as MPS, SPH, FPM an so forth, are feasible and robust for the problems with moving boundary and/or complicated boundary shapes, because these methods do not need to generate a grid system. In this study, a gridless solver, which is based on the combination of moving least square interpolations on a cloud of points with point collocation for evaluating the derivatives of governing equations, is presented for two-dimensional unsteady incompressible Navier-Stokes problem in the low Reynolds number. A MAC-type algorithm was adopted and the Poission equation for the pressure was solved by successively in the moving least square sense. Some weighing functions were tested in order to investigate the up-winding effect for the convection term. Some typical problems were solved by the presented solver for the validation and the results obtained were compared with analytic solutions and the numerical results by conventional CFD methods, such as FVM.
