A fast multiple object motion detection method using periodogram has been proposed. Each frame is projected to vertical and horizontal directions, and then temporal FFT is applied. A line in two dimensional frequency domain indicates velocity. To estimate the velocity of an object, we intergrate along a line which passes through the origin in frequency domain. If a frame contains multiple moving objects, multiple peaks are detected corresponding to the velocity of each object. After pairing these peaks, we can determine the velocities of an object. In the proposal method we can easily pair horizontal and vertical velocity components efficiently with simple computation by combining projections in 45$^{\circ}$ and 135 $^{\circ}$ directions in addition to the vertical and horizontal direction.

In this paper, we describe a security robot system to control human's behavior in the security area. In order to achieve these goals, we present a method for representing, tracking and human blocking by laserscanner systems in security area, with application to pedestrian tracking in a crowd. When it detects walking human who is for the security area, robot calculates his velocity vector, plans own path to forestall and interrupts him who want to head restricted area and starts to move along the estimated trajectory. While moving the robot continues these processes for adapting change of situation. After arriving at an opposite position human's walking direction, the robot advises him not to be headed more and change his course. The experimental results of estimating and tracking of the human in the wrong direction with the mobile robot are presented.

In this paper, we propose water quality monitoring system using vision camera and multiple objects tracking method. The proposed system analyzes object individually using vision camera unlike monitoring system using sensor method. The system using vision camera consists of individual object segmentation part and objects tracking part based on interrelation between successive frames. For real-time processing, we make background image using non-parametric estimation and extract objects using background image. If we use non-parametric estimation, objects extraction method can reduce large amount of computation complexity, as well as extract objects more effectively. Multiple objects tracking method predicts next motion using moving direction, velocity and acceleration of individual object then carries out tracking based on the predicted motion. And we apply exception handling algorithms to improve tracking performance. From experiment results under various conditions, it shows that the proposed system can be available for real-time water quality monitoring system since it has very short processing time and correct multiple objects tracking.

The guide-ways of precision machine tools are one of important element of machine tools. It has usually a pair of surfaces for constraint of one direction with bearing. In the case of precision machine tools, non-contact bearing such as hydrostatic bearing and aerostatic bearing is adopted usually. In this case, profiles of rails has effect on straightness and the clearance of bearing has effect on stiffness of guide way, which changes to higher if clearance changes to smaller. The clearance is varied along moving table according to relative distance of pair of rails. The relative distance of pair of rail can be divided by three properties. First and second properties are straightness of each pair of rail and bearing pad. And, third is parallelism about pair of rails and pairs of bearing pad. There are several methods for measuring straightness of each surface such as reversal method, sequential two point method, and way straightness. These straightness measuring methods are always acquiring deviation of profile from eliminating linear fitted inclined line and don't have the information of parallelism. Therefore, to get the small clearance for high stiffness, the straightness of rail and bearing pad and parallelism about pair of rails and pair of bearing pads are measured for correction such as regrinding, reassembling and lapping. In this research, new and easy method for measuring parallelism of pair of rails is suggested. Two displacement probe and sensor stage, which is carry on the displacement sensor, are needed. The simulation and experiment was accomplished about pair of horizontal guide way to confirm the measurement of parallelism. And, the third probe is added to measure the straightness of each rails by sequential two point method. From the estimation of combined these two methods, it is confirmed that the profiles of a pairs of rails can be measured.
In this thesis, we develop a vision based hand motion recognition system using a camera with two rotational motors. Existing systems were implemented using a range camera or multiple cameras and have a limited working area. In contrast, we use an uncalibrated camera and get more wide working area by pan-tilt motion. Given an image sequence provided by the pan-tilt camera, color and pattern information are integrated into a tracking system in order to find the 2D position and direction of the hand. With these pose information, we estimate 3D motion plane on which the gesture motion trajectory from approximately forms. The 3D trajectory of the moving finger tip is projected into the motion plane, so that the resolving power of the linear gesture patterns is enhanced. We have tested the proposed approach in terms of the accuracy of trace angle and the dimension of the working volume.
Jeju island, which is located along the moving path of typhoon, suffers from flooding and overflow by torrential rain. So abrupt runoff occurring, damages of downstream farm field and shore culturing farms are increasing. In this study, Oaedo stream, one of the mountainous streams on Jeju island, was selected as the basin of study subject and was classified into 3 sub-basins, and after the characteristics of subject basin, the soil erosion amount and the sediment delivery of the stream by land usage distribution were estimated with the use of SATEEC ArcView GIS, the sediment yield amount of 2000 and 2005 was analyzed comparatively. As a result of estimating the sediment yield amount of 2000, the three sub-basins were respectively 12,572.7, 14,080 and 157,761 tons/year. and sediment yield amounts were estimated as 35,172.9, 5,266 and 258,535 tons/year respectively in 2005. The soil erosion and sediment yield amount of 2005 using single storm rainfall were estimated high compared with 2000, but for sub-basin 2, the values rather decreased due to changes in land use, and the land coverage of 2005, since there are many classifications of land usage compared with 2000, enabling to reflect more accurate land usage condition, could deduce appropriate results. It is anticipated that such study results can be utilized as basic data to propose a direction to predict the amount of sediment yield that causes secondary flooding damage and deteriorates water quality within detention pond and grit chamber, and take action against damages in the downstream farm field and shore culturing farms.

It is widely accepted that high user densities in mobile multimedia environments can only be achieved with micro- and pico-cell. The smaller cell size causes frequent handovers between cells, and decreases permissible handover processing delay. This may result in the handover failure, in addition to the loss of some packets during the handover. In these cases, re-transmission is needed in order to compensate errors, which in turn triggers a rapid degradation of throughput. In this paper, we propose a new handover scheme for the next generation mobile communication systems, in which the handover setup process is done in advance before a handover request by predicting the handover cell based on mobile terminal's current position and moving direction. Simulation is performed in order to analyze the handover failure rate and packet loss rate. Simulation results show that our proposed method provides a better performance than the conventional method.
In order to detect the precise port/starboard direction of arrival of target signal in real noisy ocean environments, Inverse beamforming (IBF) algorithm is surveyed theoretically and the detection performances of IBF are analyzed with simulations. Cardioid Inverse beamforming algorithm was proposed for port/starboard discrimination and the performance was studied with simulations. It is shown that IBF has a 3dB array gain advantage over Conventional beamforming (CBF) under ideal conditions. This 3 dB advantage is proven theoretically and illustrated with simulations. The fact that the IBF beamwidth is narrower than the CBF beamwidth by a factor of 0.68 proves the performance of defection and spatial resolution improvement. Comparing the simulation results of Cardioid Inverse beamforming and Conventional Cardioid beamforming, it is shown that Cardioid Inverse beamformer has enhanced performance in minimum detection level, detection accuracy and resolution. Due to the results of moving target bearing detection test in endfire, it is shown that Cardioid Inverse beamformer has better performance, comparing the Conventional Cardioid beamformer.

The geostatistical method Kriging is used to estimate the areal distributions of the depth to the water table and the altitude of the water table measured from the sea level. A northern part of the city of Pohang, Kyeong-Buk, Korea has been chosen and the digital map of the area with 1:5,000 scale from the National Geographic Information System (NGIS) project by National Geographic Institute has bun used to reproduce the ground surface distribution. The water table depth appears to be in the range between 7 m and 9.5 m except a few localities where mountain tops exist and the use of groundwater for agicultural purposes is believed to be heavy. The overall distribution of the water table altitude shows a monotonic gradual decrease from the west to the east (seaward direction from the inland) and to the south with maximum rate approximately at 90 m over 6 km in horizontal distance and indicates that the groundwater is moving several meters per day there.

Purpose : This study was to develop a strategy for modeling future workforce projections to serve as a basis for analyzing annual supply of and demand for physical therapists across the South Korea into 2030. Methods : In-and-out movement model was used to project the supply of physical therapists. The demand was projected according to the demand-based method which consists of four-stages such as estimation of the utilization rate of the base year, forecasting of health care utilization of the target years, forecasting of the requirements of clinical physical therapists and non-clinical physical therapists based on the projected physical therapists. Results : Based on the current productivity standards, there will be oversupply of 39,007 to 40,875 physical therapists under the demand scenario of average rate in 2030, undersupply of 44,663 to 49,885 under the demand scenario of logistic model, oversupply of 16,378 to 19,100 under the demand scenario of logarithm, and oversupply of 18,185 to 20,839 under the demand scenario of auto-regressive moving average (ARIMA) model in 2030. Conclusion : The result of this projection suggests that the direction and degree of supply of and demand for physical therapists varied depending on physical therapists productivity and utilization growth scenarios. However, the need for introduction of a professional physical therapist system and the need to provide long-term care rehabilitation services are actively being discussed in entering the aging society. If community rehabilitation programs for rehabilitation of disabled people and the elderly are activated, the demand of physical therapists will increase, especially for elderly people. Therefore, healthcare policy should focus on establishing rehabilitation service infrastructure suitable for an aging society, providing high-quality physical therapy services, and effective utilization of physical therapists.
