축류 압축기 블레이드 손상시 터빈부품에 미치는 영향 (Effects of the Damaged Axial-flow Compressor Blade on the Gas Turbine Components)

  • The ruptured blade which is rotating at high speed can damage severely the all stage compressor blades and the turbine components. If the shattered blades flow downstream inside the turbine parts, then the turbine blades and vanes can be damaged. The small parts of shattered blades which are flowed into the turbine parts pass through without any damages in the leading edge of the first stage stationary blades. Then they bump against the convex side of the leading edge of the first stage moving blades and the trailing edge of the first stage stationary blades repeatedly. The debris of shattered blades may plug the cooling holes in the turbine blades and vanes. The dent damage and the coating delamination could be also occurred by the debris of shattered blades flowed downstream inside the combustion liner and the transition piece. This paper analyzes the influence on the turbine components and the damage mechanism and characteristics in case of the damaged blade of the multiple-stage axial flow compressor.

  • A newly devised linear flexures bearing (KIMM-LFB) for reciprocating machines is disclosed having improved reliability for long lift. KIMM-LFB is an integrated device comprising a axially moving diaphragm with circumferentially arranged arc-shaped flexure blades secured between rim and hub spacers, which turn out to have higher radial stiffness and lower Von-Mises peak stresses than the one with circumferential tangent cantilever flexure blades.   • We tested the natural frequency for the 1st moving blades of a steam turbine in general power plants, carried out the modal test of the blade groups each natural frequency. By this test results, we identified the resonance results largely in damaging the blades. We can predict damage probability for the blade groups and change state of material property by using the result of this study.

  • The dynamic particle image velocimetry (PIV) is consisted of a high frequency pulse laser, high speed cameras and a timing controller. The three velocity components of flow downstream of an axial flow fan for PC cooling system are measured using the dynamic PIV system. An Axial flow fan has seven blades of 72 mm in diameter. The rotating speed is 1800 rpm. The downstream flow is visualized by smoke particles of about $0.3-1\;{\mu}m$ in diameter. The three-dimensional instantaneous velocity fields are measured at three downstream planes. The swirl velocity component was diffused downstream and the change in time-mean vorticity distribution downstream was also discussed. The spatio-temporal change in axial velocity component with the blades passing is recognized by the instantaneous vector maps. And the dynamic behavior of vorticity moving with the rotating blades is discussed using the unsteady vorticity maps.

  • Vibration of turbine is concerned with array of last moving blade at lower pressure turbine. When last moving blade at lower pressure turbine was replaced, we must consider mass unbalance problems of blades. If mass unbalance happened at rotor, it is impossible to operate turbine. In this paper, we have how to minimize the mass unbalance problems of last moving blade at lower pressure turbine.

  • 본 논문은 복합재 패들형 블레이드를 장착한 무힌지 허브 시스템의 정지 및 전진 비행시 공력탄성학적 안정성 시험에 대한 것이다. 블레이드와 허브 flexure의 리드래그 감쇠비를 측정하기 위해 무힌지 허브시스템을 한국항공우주연구원의 GSRTS(General Small-scaled Rotor Test System)에 장착하여 가진 시험을 실시하였다. 리드래그 모드의 감쇠비를 산출하기 위해 MBA(Moving Block Analysis)기법을 사용하였다. 먼저 금속재 flexrue를 장착하여 시험을 수행한 후, 로터시스템의 동력학적 특성이 같도록 설계된 복합재 flexure를 장착하여 시험하였다. 시험은 정지 및 전진비행 조건에 따라 지상 및 풍동에서 수행하였다. 비회전 시험을 통해 복합재 flexure의 감쇠특성이 금속재보다 향상됨을 확인하였으며, 모든 시험 조건에 대해 복합재 flexure가 금속재보다 무힌지 허브시스템에 대한 공력탄성학적 안정성이 향상됨을 확인하였다.

Design Optimization of Axial Flow Compressor Blades with Three-Dimensional N avier-Stokes Solver

  • Numerical optimization techniques combined with a three-dimensional thin-layer Navier-Stokes solver are presented to find an optimum shape of a stator blade in an axial compressor through calculations of single stage rotor-stator flow. Governing differential equations are discretized using an explicit finite difference method and solved by a multi-stage Runge-Kutta scheme. Baldwin-Lomax model is chosen to describe turbulence. A spatially-varying time-step and an implicit residual smoothing are used to accelerate convergence. A steady mixing approach is used to pass information between stator and rotor blades. For numerical optimization, searching direction is found by the steepest decent and conjugate direction methods, and the golden section method is used to determine optimum moving distance along the searching direction. The object of present optimization is to maximize efficiency. An optimum stacking line is found to design a custom-tailored 3-dimensional blade for maximum efficiency with the other parameters fixed.

  • A newly devised linear flexure bearing (KIMM-LFB) for reciprocating machines is disclosed having improved tight gas clearance maintaining capability for better system performance. KIMM-LFB is an integrated device comprising an axially moving diaphragm with circumferentially arranged arc-shaped flexure blades secured between rim and hub spacers, which turn out to have higher radial stiffness than the one with circumferential tangent cantilever flexure blades. It is expected for KIMM-LFB to play a key role in designing long life, special purpose reciprocating machines such as spacecraft borne cryogenic refrigerators (cryocoolers) by providing frictionless, non-wearing, linear movement and radial support for the machines as well as a gas clearance seal by maintaining extremely tight clearances between piston and cylinder.

등/부등피치 횡류홴의 유동 소음 특성 (Flow Induced Noise Characteristics of the Cross Flow Fan with Uniform/Random Pitch Blades)

  • The flow induced noise of the cross-flow fan with uniform/random pitch blades is predicted by computational methods. With the time dependent surface pressure data obtained by solving the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations in moving coordinates, the acoustic pressure is predicted by the Ffowcs Williams-Hawkings equation. The positions of the blade noise source are identified through an investigation of the acoustic pressure history induced by one blade, and it is confirmed that the dominant noise source is near the stabilizer. Since the acoustic pressure of the random pitch fan fluctuates according to the blade passin, the dominant BPF noise of the uniform pitch fan is modulated into some reduced discrete noises which have multiples of a 50Hz difference from BPF.

  • In this paper, diagonal implicit harmonic balance method with overset grid technique is applied to analyze helicopter rotor blade flow in hover and forward flight condition. The chimera grid need interpolation time with sub-grid and background grid in moving problem such as forward flight on every time step. Present method is available enough to reduce the grid module interpolation time. In order to demonstrate present method, Caradonna & Tung's and AH-1G rotor blades are used and the results are compared to other researchers' result and experimental data.
