SMB 크로마토그래피에서 키랄정지상 [Chiral Stationary Phase, CSP]의 사용 (CSP [Chiral Stationary phase] for SMB Chromatography)

  • Simulated moving bed (SMB) chromatography was used in the petrochemical industry in the 1960s and its use has been widened to separate chiral compounds in the 1990s. Chiral stationary phase (CSP) is the key component in SMB for the separation of the chiral compounds. CSP has been developed for the analytical use in HPLC, however, its development successfully adapted for the preparative use in SMB chromatography. This review covers the present state-art technology of CSP for SMB chromatography in terms of selectivity, stability, and capacity.

폐타이어 담체를 이용한 파일럿 규모 유동상 생물막 공정에서 하수의 질소제거에 미치는 온도 영향 (Effect of Temperature on the Nitrogen Removal of Municipal Wastewater in a Pilot-scale Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor with Waste-tire Media)

  • 폐타이어 담체 유 무에 따른 질소 제거 효과와 담체를 충진한 유동상 생물막 공정의 질소제거 특성을 알아보고자 실험을 수행하였다. 하수처리장 유입하수를 이용해 폐타이어 담체 유 무에 따른 질소 제거 정도는 실험실 규모 회분식 실험을 이용하고, 온도가 질소제거에 미치는 영향은 담체를 15% 충진한 파일럿 규모 유동상 생물막 공정을 약 370일 동안 장시간 운전을 통해 알아보았다. 폐타이어 담체 유 무에 따른 질산화율은 3.4 및 1.7 mg NH$_4^+$-N/g Mixed-Liquor Volatile Suspended Solid(MLVSS)$\cdot$hr로 담체를 투입한 경우 질소 제거가 더 효과적이었다. 온도범위가 9$\sim$10$^{\circ}C$에서 20$\sim$24$^{\circ}C$로 증가하였을 때 총 질소제거효율은 53 $\pm$ 8%에서 76 $\pm$ 5%까지 증가하였다. 온도가 9$\sim$10$^{\circ}C$, 10$\sim$20$^{\circ}C$, 20$\sim$24$^{\circ}C$에서 질산화율은 0.8 $\pm$ 0.5, 3.1 $\pm$ 1.9, 3.4 $\pm$ 2.1 mg NH$_4^+$-N/g MLVSS$\cdot$hr로, 탈질율은 0.6 $\pm$ 0.2, 1.1 $\pm$ 0.6, 1.4 $\pm$ 0.6 mg NO$_3^-$-N/g MLVSS$\cdot$hr로 나타났으며, 전체미생물 중 부착미생물은 17 $\pm$ 7, 20 $\pm$ 6, 22 $\pm$ 6%로 온도가 증가함에 따라 증가하는 경향을 나타내었다. 미생물 총괄활성도는 온도가 9$\sim$10$^{\circ}C$에서 20$\sim$24$^{\circ}C$으로 증가함에 따라 혐기조, 무산소조, 호기조에서 22, 20, 15% 증가하였고 질산화 미생물인 Nitrosomonas와 Nitrobacter 활성분율도 증가하였다.

목질계 Biomass로부터 강산 당화 공정에 의한 Bioethanol 생산 공정의 물질 및 열수지 (Material and Heat Balances of Bioethanol Production Process by Concentrated Acid Saccharification Process from Lignocellulosic Biomass)

  • 본 연구에서는 바이오에탄올 생산을 위한 목질계 바이오매스의 전처리, 당화, 당/산 분리, 발효, 정제에 이르는 전 공정을 조합하고, 상용공정모사기(PRO/II)를 사용하여 공정모사를 수행하였다. 주요 공정으로 강산에 의한 전처리 및 당화, SMB(simulated moving bed)를 사용한 당/산 분리, 그리고 증류 및 투과증발법(Pervaporation)을 이용한 에탄올 탈수 공정을 사용하였다. 열회수 공정을 이용하여 전 공정의 에너지 소비가 최소화 되도록 하고 강산당화공정에 의한 바이오에탄올 생산공정의 물질수지 및 열 수지를 확인하였다. 공정모사 결과, 1 kg의 에탄올을 생산하는데 필요한 바이오매스는 4.07 kg, 소요된 열량은 3,572 kcal로 계산되었다. 기존 묽은 산 당화공정(SRI 자료)에 비해 26%의 수율 증가와 30% 정도의 에너지 절감이 가능할 것으로 예상되었다. 이러한 수율을 얻기 위해서는 강산당화공정에 의한 전처리 및 당화공정에서 셀룰로오스 및 헤미셀룰로오스의 전환율이 90% 정도에 이르러야한다. 또한 5탄당 발효공정이 개발되어야 한다. 효율적 에너지 절감을 위해서는 SMB 공정에서 분리된 황산수용액의 농도가 20% 이상 되어야하며, SMB 공정에 의한 당/산분리 공정이 실용화되어야 강산당화공정에 의한 목절계 바이오에탄올 생산공정이 상용화될 것이다.

  • 최근 폐 탄약의 회수를 통한 고에너지 물질의 재활용 및 재사용에 대한 연구가 선진국을 중심으로 활발히 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 재활용 기술응용의 일환으로, 폐 탄약 처리 중 나오는 TNT와 RDX 혼합물을 모사이동층(SMB) 공정을 통해 효율적으로 분리하는 실험과 이에 대한 동적 모사를 수행하였다. SMB 공정의 운전 영역을 설정하기 위하여 혼합용액의 유속변화에 따른 각 물질의 체류시간을 HPLC로 측정하였으며, 모멘트 모델을 이용하여 흡착 컬럼에서 각 물질의 흡착평형을 분석하였다. 흡착 평형과 SMB 운전 삼각법을 통하여 4개의 운전 영역을 결정하였다. 결정된 운전 영역에서 아세토나이트릴과 물이 6:4와 1:1로 구성된 2가지 용매에 대해 SMB 공정을 이용한 분리 실험을 수행하였다. SMB 공정의 운전 조건 변화에 따른 순도, 회수율, 생산성, 용매소비량 등의 4가지 성능 지수를 평가하였다. 또한 SMB 공정에 대한 수학적 모델을 통하여 공정의 동적 모사를 수행하여 실험의 결과와 비교하였다. SMB 공정을 통해 100% 순도의 TNT와 RDX를 얻을 수 있었으며, 동적 모사 결과는 실험 결과와 잘 일치하여 공정 동적 거동 예측과 공정 설계에 적용할 수 있음을 확인하였다.

거동 부자유 노인을 위한 일회용 기저귀 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study for the Development of Disposable Diaspers for the Elderly in Need)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop disposable diapers for the elderly in need by experimenting with wearing disposable diapers and analyzing the properties of materials of these diapers. The diapers were of two different types: one was a panty type for the elderly who were bed ridden, and the other was a pad type for the elderly who had incontinence. The subjects for the wearing test of the panty type were forty who were bed ridden, and there were forty subjects for the wearing test of the pad type who had incontinence. The disposable diapers for these experiments were chosen from those already found in the market place. Four panty types and three pad types were selected. From these experiments for the disposable diapers, the first prototypes were developed, and the second prototypes were proposed by experimenting with the first prototypes. The first panty prototype was designed to improve absorbing power, and we added waist rubber bands to prevent evacuation from back leaking and a frontal tape to prevent waistline film from tearing. The first pad prototype was designed to improve absorbing power also, and we added side rubber bands to prevent the side leaking and an adhesive tape on the fore part of the bottom to prevent the diapers from moving, and made the outline of the back area curved and thin to help hide the diaper from detection thus making the wearer feel better. From these test cases and analyzing the properties of materials with the first prototypes, we gained some success, but several points on further improvements were proposed to refine the final prototypes. The second panty prototype we proposed was to make 1he length longer, especially in the crotch area to prevent excess leaking and to fit the body more snugly. Also, the second pad prototype was proposed to reduce the total thickness of the diaper, and to improve the feeling and appearance.

문형 공작기계의 Zig-Zag 오차 분석 (Analysis of Zig-Zag Error in Gantry Type Machine)

  • 대형 5축 문형공작기계는 Gantry가 bed를 따라 절삭, 급송 이송하면서 가공을 수행 한다. 가공을 수행하는 중에 발생하는 오차(Zig-Zag)원인으로써 1) 양쪽 X축 이송모터의 위치오차 제어차이 2) 양쪽 Column의 무게차이에 의해 발생하는 마찰력에 대한 오차 3) spindle 회전력에 따른 오차 3가지의 원인이 있다. 3가지 오차원인을 분석하여 문형공작기계성능을 향상시키기 위해 연구를 진행 하였다. 연구결과로는 첫 번째로 양쪽 Column이 동일한 무게를 갖는 Gantry 구조에서 한쪽 축의 무게를 변경함으로써 마찰력이 미치는 영향을 확인하였다. 두 번째로 우리는 스핀들 회전이 미치는 영향을 해석 및 실험하였다. 그리고 우리는 스핀들 회전이 Gantry이송에 미치는 영향을 확인하였다.

EUTECTIC(LiCl-KCl) WASTE SALT TREATMENT BY SEQUENCIAL SEPARATION PROCESS

  • The sequential separation process, composed of an oxygen sparging process for separating lanthanides and a zone freezing process for separating Group I and II fission products, was evaluated and tested with a surrogate eutectic waste salt generated from pyroprocessing of used metal nuclear fuel. During the oxygen sparging process, the used lanthanide chlorides (Y, Ce, Pr and Nd) were converted into their sat-insoluble precipitates, over 99.5% at $800^{\circ}C$; however, Group I (Cs) and II (Sr) chlorides were not converted but remained within the eutectic salt bed. In the next process, zone freezing, both precipitation of lanthanide precipitates and concentration of Group I/II elements were preformed. The separation efficiency of Cs and Sr increased with a decrease in the crucible moving speed, and there was little effect of crucible moving speed on the separation efficiency of Cs and Sr in the range of a 3.7 - 4.8 mm/hr. When assuming a 60% eutectic salt reuse rate, over 90% separation efficiency of Cs and Sr is possible, but when increasing the eutectic salt reuse rate to 80%, a separation efficiency of about 82 - 86 % for Cs and Sr was estimated.

Design Study on a Variable Intake and a Variable Nozzle for Hypersonic Engines

  • Variable air intake and variable exhaust nozzle of hypersonic engines are designed and tested in this study. Dimensions for variable geometry air intake, ram combustor and variable geometry exhaust nozzle are defined based on the requirements of a pre-cooled turbojet engine. Hypersonic Ramjet Engine is designed as a scaled test bed for each component. Actuation forces of moving parts for variable intake and variable nozzle are reduced by balancing the other force in the opposite direction. A demonstrator engine which includes variable intake and variable nozzle is designed and the components are fabricated. Composite material with silicone carbide is applied for high temperature parts under oxidation environment such as leading edge of the variable intake and combustor liner. Internal cooling structure is adopted for both moving and static parts of the variable nozzle. Pressure recovery and mass capture ratio of the variable intake at Mach 5 is obtained by a hypersonic wind tunnel test. Flow characteristics of the variable nozzle are obtained by a low temperature flow test. Wall temperature and heat flux of the nozzle at Mach 3 is obtained by a firing test. As results, the intake and the nozzle are proved to be used at designed pressure and temperature environment.

  • An Euler-Lagrange two-phase flow model is presented fur simulation sheet-flow transport under wave and current. The flow is computed by solving the Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes equation in conjunction with the k-$\varepsilon$ turbulence model for turbulence closure. The sediment transport is introduced as a motion of granular media under the action of unsteady flow from the Lagragian point of view. In other word, motion of every single particle is numerically traced with Movable Bed Simulator (MBS) code based on the Distinct Element Method (DEM), in which the frequent interparticle collision of the moving particles during the sheet-flow transport is sophisticatedly taken into account. The particle diameter effect on time-dependent developing process of sheet-flow transport is investigated, by using three different diameter sizes of sediment. The influence of an imposed current on oscillatory sheet-flow transport is also investigated. It is concluded that the sediment transport rate increases due to the relaxation process related to the time-lag between flow velocity and sediment motion.

석유정제산업 공정과 공정장비에 기인한 휘발성 유해 대기오염물질(HAPs)의 배출량 산정기법 (Estimation Technique of Volatile Hazardous Air Pollutants(HAPs) Emitted from Petroleum Industrial Process/Equipment)

  • Petroleum refineries have been considered as an important emission source for atmospheric volatile hazardous air pollutants(HAPs). The emission source includes petroleum refinery processes and process equipment. The control strategy for volatile HAPs requires emission estimations of these pollutants. However, systematic methods of volatile HAPs emission from petroleum refineries have not yet been established. Accordingly, present study surveyed the estimation method of volatile HAPs emitted from the petroleum refinery processes and process equipment. The emission estimation methods for the petroleum refinery processes are applied for 11 petroleum refining facilities: fluidized catalytic cracking, thermal cracking, moving bed catalytic cracking, compressed engine, blowdown system, vacuum distilled column condensator, natural gas or distilled boiler, natural gas or distilled heater, oil boiler, oil heater and flare. Four emission estimation methods applied for the petroleum refinery process equipment are as follows: average emission factor approach, screening ranges approach, EPA correlation approach and unit-specific correlation approach. The process equipment for which emission factors are available are valves, pump seals, connectors, flanges and open-ended lines.
