  • It is not easy for the user to find the information that is appropriate for the user among the suddenly increasing information in recent years. One of the ways to help individuals make decisions in such a lot of information is the recommendation system. Although there are many recommendation methods for such recommendation systems, a representative method is collaborative filtering. In this paper, we design and implement the movie recommendation system on user-based collaborative filtering of apache mahout. In addition, Pearson correlation coefficient is used as a method of measuring the similarity between users. We evaluate Precision and Recall using the MovieLens 100k dataset for performance evaluation.

  • Association rule mining is a method of showing the relationship between patterns hidden in several tables. These days, granulation logic is used to add more detailed meaning to association rule mining. In addition, unlike the existing system that recommends using existing data, the granulation related rules can also recommend new subscribers or new products. Therefore, determining the qualitative size of the granulation of the association rule determines the performance of the recommendation system. In this paper, we propose a granulation method for subscribers and movie data using fuzzy logic and Shannon entropy concepts in order to understand the relationship to the movie evaluated by the viewers. The research is composed of two stages: 1) Identifying the size of granulation of data, which plays a decisive role in the implications of the association rules between viewers and movies; 2) Mining the association rules between viewers and movies using these granulations. We preprocessed Netflix's MovieLens data. The results of meanings of association rules and accuracy of recommendation are suggested with managerial implications in conclusion section.

  • There are many recommendation systems available to provide users with personalized services. Among them, the most frequently used in electronic commerce is 'collaborative filtering', which is a technique that provides a process of filtering customer information for the preparation of profiles and making recommendations of products that are expected to be preferred by other users, based on such information profiles. Collaborative filtering systems, however, have in their nature both technical issues such as sparsity, scalability, and transparency, as well as security issues in the collection of the information that becomes the basis for preparation of the profiles. In this paper, we suggest a movie recommendation system, based on the selection of optimal personal propensity variables and the utilization of a secure collaborating filtering system, in order to provide a solution to such sparsity and scalability issues. At the same time, we adopt 'push attack' principles to deal with the security vulnerability of collaborative filtering systems. Furthermore, we assess the system's applicability by using the open database MovieLens, and present a personal propensity framework for improvement in the performance of recommender systems. We successfully come up with a movie recommendation system through the selection of optimal personalization factors and the embodiment of a safe collaborative filtering system.

  • Today, most approaches used in the recommendation system provide correct data prediction similar to the data that users need. The method that researchers are paying attention and apply as a model in the recommendation system is the communities' detection in the big social network. The outputted result of this approach is effective in improving the exactness. Therefore, in this paper, the personalized movie recommendation system that combines data mining for the k-clique method is proposed as the best exactness data to the users. The proposed approach was compared with the existing approaches like k-clique, collaborative filtering, and collaborative filtering using k-nearest neighbor. The outputted result guarantees that the proposed method gives significant exactness data compared to the existing approach. In the experiment, the MovieLens data were used as practice and test data.

  • Over the last decades, information has increased exponentially due to SNS(Social Network Service), IoT devices, World Wide Web, and many others. Therefore, it was monumentally hard to offer a good service or set of recommendations to consumers. To surmount this obstacle numerous research has been conducted in the Data Mining field. Different and new recommendation models have emerged. In this paper, we proposed a Content-based movie recommendation system using demographic information of users and the average rating for genres. We used MovieLens Dataset to proceed with our experiment.

  • We propose a method of movie recommendation that involves an algorithm known as spectral bipartition. The Social Network is constructed manually by considering the similar movies viewed by users in MovieLens dataset. This kind of similarity establishes implicit ties between viewers. Because we assume that there is a possibility that there might be a connection between users who share the same set of viewed movies. We cluster users by applying a community detection algorithm based on the spectral bipartition. This study helps to uncover the hidden relationships between users and recommend movies by considering that feature.

  • The smart home environment focuses on recognizing the context and physical entities. And this is mainly focused on the personalized service supplied conversational interactions. In this paper, we proposed the recommendation using the context awareness based information filtering that dynamically applied by the context awareness as well as the meta data in the smart home. The proposed method defined the context information and recommended the profited service for the user’s taste using the context awareness based information filtering. Accordingly, the satisfaction of users and the quality of services will be improved the efficient recommendation by supporting the distributed processing as well as the mobility of services. Finally, to evaluate the performance of the proposed method, this study applies to MovieLens dataset in the OSGi framework, and it is compared with the performance of previous studies.

  • Due to the development of ubiquitous computing, a wide variety of information is being produced and distributed rapidly in digital form. In this excess of information, it is not easy for users to search and find their desired information in short time. In this paper, we propose the personalized item recommendation using the image based filtering. This research uses the image based filtering which is extracting the feature from the image data that a user is interested in, in order to improve the superficial problem of content analysis. We evaluate the performance of the proposed method and it is compared with the performance of previous studies of the content based filtering and the collaborative filtering in the MovieLens dataset. And the results have shown that the proposed method significantly outperforms the previous methods.

  • The information system in which users can utilize to control and to get the filtered information efficiently has appeared. Content-based filtering can reflect content information, and it provides recommendation by comparing the feature information about item and the profile of preference. This has the shortcoming of the varying accuracy of prediction depending on teaming method. This paper suggests the discovery of preference through learning the profile for the content-based filtering. This study improves the accuracy of recommendation through learning the profile according to granting the preference of 6 levels to estimated value in order to solve the problem. Finally, to evaluate the performance of the proposed method, this study applies to MovieLens dataset, and it is compared with the performance of previous studies.
