  • Early detection of premonitory symptom of slope movement ensures tremendous saving of lives and repair costs from catastrophic disaster. Therefore, it is essential to constantly monitor the performance and integrity of both reinforced and un-reinforced cut slopes. We developed a novel monitoring system by using tension wire sensors. It's advantages are highly sensitivity, simple installation, large displacement measurement, durability of system, capability of remote sensing. Real-time measurement of slope surface movement is shown graphically and it gives a warning when the monitored value exceeds a given threshold level so that any sign of abnormal slope movement can be easily perceived.

  • Vehicle movement detection by high order correlation analysis of optical sensor array signals is introduced. The optical sensors observe the road which is assumed to be a non-uniform speckle-like texture. The measurement system is applicable to general robotic movement detection because : 1) It employs a non-contact measurement method, 2) The system can be made very compact, and 3) It enables approximation of the movement trace with a sequence of arcs instead of the conventional connection of simple line segments. In this work, we have looked into estimation of running trace of an autonomous vehicle by observing the ground pattern.

  • 본 논문에서는 서모파일 어레이 센서를 이용한 무선 인체 감지 시스템을 제안한다. 제안한 시스템은 천정에 센서를 부착하여 온도 분포라고 불리는 공간의 온도를 측정한다. 시스템은 $4{\times}4$ 픽셀의 온도 분포를 측정하여 인체의 움직임을 추출할 수 있도록 분석된다. 실험 결과에서 제안한 시스템은 인체 움직임을 성공적으로 감지하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 비디오 영상내 사물의 움직임의 방향과 크기의 변화를 이용한 새로운 서술자를 정의하고 이를 기반으로 하여 실시간으로 폭력 영상을 검출하는 방법을 제안한다. 새로 정의된 서술자는 폭력 행위의 움직임의 크기 및 방향 변화량이 일반적인 움직임에 비해 매우 크다는 관찰에 착안한 것이다. 일정한 프레임 동안의 서술자 값으로 이루어진 서술자 특징 벡터를 얻었고, 이것은 SVM(Support Vector Machine)으로 학습된 분류기를 통하여 폭력행위와 비폭력행위를 구별하는 데에 사용되었다. 제안하는 방법의 성능을 검증하기 위해 ViF(Violent Flow) 알고리즘과 세 종류의 데이터셋을 이용하여 비교 실험을 수행하였고, 모든 경우에서 더 우수한 성능을 보임을 확인하였다.

안전운전 관리시스템 개발 (Development of a Safe Driving Management System)

  • Dangerous driving is a major cause of traffic accidents in Korea. It becomes more serious for commercial vehicles due to higher fatality rates. The Safe Driving Management System (SDMS), developed in this research, is a comprehensive solution that monitors and stores driving conditions of vehicles, detects dangerous driving situations, and analyzes the results in real time. The Safe Driving Management System consists of a vehicle movement information controller, a dangerous driving detection algorithm and a vehicle movement data report and analysis program. The dangerous driving detection algorithm detects and classifies dangerous driving conditions into representative cases such as sudden acceleration, sudden braking, sudden lane change, and sudden turning. Both computer simulation and vehicle test have been conducted to develop and verify the algorithm. The Safe Driving Management System has been implemented on commercial buses to verify its reliability and objectivity. It is expected that the system can contribute to prevention of traffic accidents, systemization of safe driving management and reduction of commercial vehicle operation costs.

화소 밝기와 객체 이동을 이용한 비디오 샷 경계 탐지 알고리즘 (Shot Boundary Detection Algorithm by Compensating Pixel Brightness and Object Movement)

  • 비디오 데이터를 효율적으로 검색, 정렬, 탐색, 분류하기 위해서는 프레임 간의 샷 전환 탐지가 선행되어야 한다. 프레임 간 화소 밝기와 객체 이동은 높은 탐지율을 보장하는 샷 탐지 알고리즘이 극복해야할 문제이다. 본 논문에서는 프레임의 블록화 및 객체의 이동과 프레임의 밝기를 고려하는 샷 탐지 방법을 제안한다. 먼저 연속하는 두 프레임 사이에서 발생할 수 있는 객체의 이동을 고려하여 계산된 히스토그램과 밝기 차이를 반영하는 모폴러지 팽창 연산을 이용하는 알고리즘을 제안한다. 다음으로 화소 밝기 차를 보상한 프레임 블록의 화소정보와 프레임의 전역적인 밝기 히스토그램의 변화를 함께 이용하는 샷 탐지 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 방법들은 국가기록원 소장 비디오 데이터에 대한 실험에서 화소 또는 히스토그램 기반 알고리즘에 비해 높은 샷 탐지율을 보였다.

  • As the need of automatized system has been increased recently together with the development of industrial and military technologies, the adaptive real-time target detection technologies that can be embedded on vehicles, planes, ships, robots and so on, are hgihly demanded. Accordingly, this paper proposes a novel approach to detect and segment the moving targets using the binary phase extraction joint transform correlator (BPEJTC), the advanced image subtraction filter and convex hull processing. The BPEJTC which was used as a target detection unit mainly for target tracking compensating the camera movement. The target region has been detected by processing the successful three frames using the advanced image subtraction filter, and has become more accurate by applying the developed convex hull filter. As shown by some experimental results, it is expected that the proposed approaches for compensation of the camera movement and segmentationof of target region, can be used for th emissile guiddance, aero surveillance, automatic inspectin system as well as the target detection unit of automatic target recognition system that request adaptive real-time processing.

An Analysis of 2D Positional Accuracy of Human Bodies Detection Using the Movement of Mono-UWB Radar

  • This paper considers the ability of counting and positioning multi-targets by using a mobile UWB radar device. After a background subtraction process, distinguishing between clutters and human body signals, the position of targets will be computed using weighted Gaussian mixture methods. While computer vision offers many advantages, it has limited performance in poor visibility conditions (e.g., at night, haze, fog or smoke). UWB radar can provide a complementary technology for detecting and tracking humans, particularly in poor visibility or through-wall conditions. As we know, for 2D measurement, one method is the use of at least two receiver antennas. Another method is the use of one mobile radar receiver. This paper tried to investigate the position detection of the stationary human body using the movement of one UWB radar module.

Crowd escape event detection based on Direction-Collectiveness Model

  • Crowd escape event detection has become one of the hottest problems in intelligent surveillance filed. When the 'escape event' occurs, pedestrians will escape in a disordered way with different velocities and directions. Based on these characteristics, this paper proposes a Direction-Collectiveness Model to detect escape event in crowd scenes. First, we extract a set of trajectories from video sequences by using generalized Kanade-Lucas-Tomasi key point tracker (gKLT). Second, a Direction-Collectiveness Model is built based on the randomness of velocity and orientation calculated from the trajectories to express the movement of the crowd. This model can describe the movement of the crowd adequately. To obtain a generalized crowd escape event detector, we adopt an adaptive threshold according to the Direction-Collectiveness index. Experiments conducted on two widely used datasets demonstrate that the proposed model can detect the escape events more effectively from dense crowd.
