  • This study was designed 1) to quantitatively observe changes in static platform and 2) to observe balance performance using vision. Seventy-five subjects participated in the study. Subjects comprised 39 males and 36 females(mean ages=23.8 years) without neurologic and orthopaedic impairments. Static balance was measured with eyes open and closed. Subjects was required to move the cneter of balance curser in a counterclockwise for 30 sec. The effect for the COBx(-) suggests that subjects tended to maintain their weight slightly In the left. The time taken and the accuracy to move the center of balance from target to target was 14 sec, $49.47\%$. The body sway upon reaching the target was 7.3 AP sway and 11.88 LR sway distance. In this study, the data developed could be appropriate to use for sine comparisons when balance training patients with neurologic or orthopaedic impairments.

  • This paper provides a global path planning method using self-organizing feature map which is a method among a number of neural network. The self-organizing feature map uses a randomized small valued initial weight vectors, selects the neuron whose weight vector best matches input as the winning neuron, and trains the weight vectors such that neurons within the activity bubble are move toward the input vector. On the other hand, the modified method in this research uses a predetermined initial weight vectors, gives the systematic input vector whose position best matches obstacles, and trains the weight vectors such that neurons within the activity bubble are move toward the input vector. According to simulation results one can conclude that the modified neural network is useful tool for the global path planning problem of a mobile robot.

  • The mixed convection heat transfer has been studied numerically for misaligned and parrallel arrays of two flat plates at 100.leg.Re.leg.700, 0.1.leg.B.leg.1.0, 0.2.leg.leg.PHI.$_{R}$.leg.1Gr=10$^{4}$ and Pr=0.71. For misaligned plates and parallel plates, the optimum plate spacings move to the narrow spacing as Reynolds number and .PHI.$_{R}$ increase and can be expressed by the correlation equations at Gr=10$^{4}$. The optimum plate spacings for parallel plates sharply move to the narrow spacing compared with misaligned plates. The maximum mean Nusselt number of parallel plates shows higher value than that of misaligned plates and can be expressed by the correlation equations at Gr=10$^{4}$.EX>.

  • As the robot industry changes from industrial robot into personal robot used in home, the concept also changes from the existing fixed manipulator into Mobile Manipulator of free move in the aspect of appliance. For personal robot with such features, the role of mobile system is very important technology that rules the roost of robot functions. Especially, it is necessary to develop moving mechanism for free move in a narrow environment with obstacles such as home. This study introduces 3-axis structure in order to develop synchronous method that has turret capable of endless revolution for practical use as well as semi-omnidirectional function, and suggests applicable method to solve the problem of mechanical coupling.

  • The Asia Pacific papermaking giants are China, Japan and Korea followed by Indonesia. The strong trends in recent years have been the move to alkaline/neutral sizing which has assisted the move from kaolin and talc as the major filler minerals to ground calcium carbonate and precipitated calcium carbonate. Kaolin remains important as a constituent in many coating formulations and Chinese-sourced talc, due to its brightness and price will remain important especially in paper filler minerals. The need for ever increasing printing surface quality and continuing efforts by the paper manufacturers to keep costs under control will ensure minerals in papermaking will continue to be a dynamic subject in the years ahead.

  • Composition of isoflavone in cotyledon and hypocotyl of soybean were detected using HPLC. Optimum conditions for extracting isoflavone from hypocotyl were studied as well. Contents of isoflavone in soybean cotyledon and hypocotyl were 482.5 mg 100 $g^{-1}$ and 3453.3 mg 100 100 $g^{-1}$, respectively. Hypocotyl contained 7~8 times move isoflavone than corresponding cotyledon of the soybean. Malonyl glycoside accounted for move than 70% of the total isoflavone, followed by glycoside, acetyl glycoside, and aglycone. Aqueous ethanol of 60~80% was the most suitable solvent for extracting isoflavone from the hypocotyl. Optimum temperature and time was $90^{\circ}C$, 1hr. Acetic acid, NaCl, and NaOH added to 80% ethanol suppressed extraction yield of the phytochemieal.

  • A real-time face tracking is a broad topic, covering a large spectrum of technologies and applications. Briefly face tracking is a kind of tracing technique which follows human face in any directions. It needs some algorithms such as human face detection and motion controller to track face. Moreover, both processing time and calculation time are the most important factors that influence to drive tracking system. In this paper, two algorithms are used to find human face: earn-shift algorithm and face detection algorithm using OpenCV. Fuzzy controller is utilized to move pan-tilt camera system which can move four directions along to x-y axis.

  • Until now, most studies of foot moving or driving posture have been performed under laboratory driving conditions. But there are many different things between actual driving conditions and laboratory driving conditions because, in laboratory conditions, it is hard to consider vehicle's noise, vibration and people's psychology state while driving. Thus this study is performed through actual driving conditions. And while driving test, we recorded driver's foots with 2 cameras to investigate foots(left and right) heel point and how human foots move to control the three pedals : accel, brake and footrest.. Through driving test, the results of this study show that the position of driver's heel point isn't related to stature and tends to be generalized.

  • Design of ocean fishways as eco-movement passages for turbine structures, sluice structures and barrages of a environmentally-friendly tidal power system through which fish can pass are suggested. The ocean fishways comprise a plurality of fishways to allow fish to move between the sea-side and the lake-side of the barrages and turbine structures and sluice structures. It is demonstrated that the inventive ocean fishways are cost effective to construct and environmentally-friendly eco-movement passages for fish and benthos to move between sea-side and lake-side without passing through the turbine blades of a tidal power plant in operation.

  • One of the requirements for autonomous vehicles on off-road is to move stably in unstructured environments. Such capacity of autonomous vehicles is one of the most important abilities in consideration of mobility. So, many researchers use contact and/or non-contact methods to determine a terrain whether the vehicle can move on or not. In this paper we introduce an algorithm to classify terrains using visual information(one of the non-contacting methods). As a pre-processing, a contrast enhancement technique is introduced to improve classification of terrain. Also, for conducting classification algorithm, training images are grouped according to materials of the surface, and then Bayesian classification are applied to new images to determine membership to each group. In addition to the classification, we can build Traversability map specified by friction coefficients on which autonomous vehicles can decide to go or not. Experiments are made with Load-Cell to determine real friction coefficients of various terrains.
