The Calculation of Inductance to verify the Parameters in Interior Permanent Magnet Motor (매입형 영구자석 전동기의 파라미터 검증을 위한 인덕턴스 산정)

  • In case of a difference exist between the experimental value and estimated value of back-emf, there can be a difference of turn number or residual flux density of permanent maget of the motor. In order to presume the turn number, the average length for each coil is used to calculate the resistance. However in producing the motor, doc to the tension of coil, the outer diameter of coil becomes smaller, and then the resistance estimated by average length for each coil is not correct. Therefore in this paper, through the comparison of experiment value and estimated value of inductance, a method of presuming the turn number and PM's residual flux density of an IPM motor is presented. The inductance of IPM motor changes with the rotor position, therefore the rotor part is taken out and then the inductance in open circuit condition is measured. In the analytical calculation, 3D FEM(Finite Element Method) is used, which can consider the leakage flux of end turns in frinzing effect.

A Position Sensorless Control of Switched Reluctance Motors Based on Phase Inductance Slope

  • A new sensorless position estimation method for switched reluctance motor (SRM) drives is presented in this paper. This method uses the change of the slope of the phase inductance to detect the aligned position. Since the aligned positions for successive electrical cycle of each phase are apart by a fixed mechanical angle $45^{\circ}$ in the case of 12/8 SRM, the speed of the machine can be calculated to estimate the rotor position. Since no prior knowledge of motor parameters is required, the method is easy for implementation without adding any additional hardware or memory. In order to verify the validity of this technique, effects such as changes in the advanced angle and phase lacking faults are examined. In addition, an inductance threshold based sensorless starting scheme is also proposed. Experimental results demonstrate the validity of the proposed method.

  • The accurate identification of the motor parameters is crucially important to achieve high dynamic performance of induction motors. In this paper, th motor parameters such as stator(rotor) resistance, stator(rotor) leakage inductance, mutual inductance, and rotor inertia are measured in off-line. Stator(rotor) resistance and stator(rotor) leakage inductance are measured based on the stationary coordinate equations of induction motors. On the other hand, mutual inductance are measured under the scalar control. Finally, the inverse rotor time constant is identified in on-line using an extended kalman filter algorithm. To demonstrate the practical significance of the results, Some experimental results are presented.

  • Conventional adaptive speed estimators cannot avoid the influence of the non-linear inductance variation under the saturation conditions. Without speed sensors, it is difficult to identify the inductance variation using a reactive power mode because the model contains a term of the rotor speed. In this paper, we propose a novel speed estimator having hybrid architecture in order to estimate both the rotor speed and the inductance variation simultaneously when the motor flux is saturated. Proposed estimator consists of the error between the flux obtained from the stator voltage equation and the flux estimated from the rotor flux observer. Introducing a new correction term into the estimator increases the estimation ability of the conventional speed estimator even though the motor flux is saturated. The convergence of the speed estimation error is examined by simulation Furthermore, the experimental results show the validity of the proposed method.

  • The position of LPM's mover can be estimated by the equivalent inductance variation with the mover's displacement. Hence, in this paper, we obtained the position detection signal by the calculation of equivalent inductance variation using the winding of linear pulse motor. And the various parameters for calculation of equivalent inductance variation were obtained by the design specification and finite element analysis of linear pulse motor. With this position signal, it is possible to calculate the driving numbers of steps, to confirm the state of step out and to determine the optimal switching angle, etc.

  • A phase winding of RSM is excited and measured the excited winding inductance, mutual inductance. Ld and Lq is calculated from the measurement result. Two rotors are manufactured for this paper, measured their inductance and compared the calculated equation with the conventional equation. This paper confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • The paper presents the design of a segmented type synchronous reluctance motor(SynRM) to increase its torque and power factor. The main feature of a segmented type synchronous reluctance motor is the flux barrier. Thus, the design process to find optimum value of various geometric parameters including flux barrier will be explained. Optimum value of each parameter is found where the d, q inductance difference and saliency ratio are maximized because these inductance characteristics are related to torque and power factor. Finite Element Analysis will be used to simulate motor characteristics. Analysis results of redesigned SynRM show higher saliency ratio over 10 and improved value of maximum power factor.

  • This paper deals with a study on characteristic of inductance on spoke type motor. The rotor and stator is redesigned as rounding teeth of stator and pole surface of rotor. Result, a shape of air-gap is changed and the cogging torque is reduced greatly. In consequence, the inductance of spoke type motor is changed.   • This paper presents a new analytical representation and simulation of the phase inductance of a Switched Reluctance Motor(SRM) using Matlab/M-file. This simulation method has many advantages: it is free from expression, can be applied widely, demonstrates inductance profile using motor parameter only, and save run time. Moreover, this simulation method can be easily realize various SRM model unlikely the existing method that limited itself to one model. And analytical expression for inductance profile is welcome as it allows for easier analysis of the motor, for it can bring insight in it working, in formulating control strategies and in achieving high accuracy in performance computations.

  • In this paper, the characteristics of IPMSM(Interior-type Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) are simulated using 2-D. finite element method. This paper deals with the following characteristics : air gap flux density considering skew, back e.m.f., torque and inductance. Back e.m.f. is calculated using the flux obtained from the vector potential of FEM solution. Torque is calculated using improved Maxwell stress tensor method and current angle which is obtained from the controller. Direct axis inductance and quadrature axis inductance are also calculated using energy perturbation method. Computed results are found in satisfactory agreement with experimental ones. This method also can be applied for the computation and analysis of the characteristics of SPMSM, current-excited synchronous motor and reluctance motor.
