A Study on Powering Characteristic on Speed Variation of Propulsion System of Prototype 8200 Electric Locomotive (축소형 8200호대 전기기관차 추진시스템의 속도변화에 따른 역행특성 연구)

  • This paper study on powering characteristic on speed variation of propulsion system of prototype 8200 electric locomotive propulsion system through simulation modeling. For this purpose, it being applied in the field of railway IGBT (Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor) elements are used. Converter was performed PLL (Phase-Locked Loop) control method that is used to control the phase and output voltage, and the inverter was carried an indirect vector control method to control the speed of traction motor. The results of simulation by modeling and experimental unit, we was confirmed that converter is controlled a unity power factor and output voltage by reference voltage. Also traction motor was controlled by indirect vector control and SVPWM inverter switching method very well.

  • For the fault diagnosis of three-phase induction motors, we propose a diagnosis algorithm based on mutual information and linear discriminant analysis (LDA). The experimental unit consists of machinery module for induction motor drive and data acquisition module to obtain the fault signal. As the first step for diagnosis procedure, DFT is performed to transform the acquired current signal into frequency domain. And then, frequency components are selected according to discriminate order calculated by mutual information As the next step, feature extraction is performed by LDA, and then diagnosis is evaluated by k-NN classifier. The results to verify the usability of the proposed algorithm showed better performance than various conventional methods.

  • This work presents a simulation model for a specific UV disinfection system (UVDS) powered by a Photovoltaic System. The global UVDS also includes the electronic converters, Electronic Ballast, UV Lamp and Motor Pump. The equations that model the physical components' behaviour are connected to obtain a dynamic global model. The latter is converted in a Simulink/Matlab model, which allows to carry out simulation series concerning the entire UVDS. The physical parameters: the irradiation G and the temperature T, are considered as inputs. series of measurements carried out in order to show how these parameters affect the current, the voltage of the PVs and especially the value of the current of the UV lamp, on the other hand a study on the behavior and the evolution of the parameters of the motor pump such as the armature current, motor torque, speed of rotation and the water flow. The purpose of all this is to realize how important are the two parameters concerning the lamp current and the water flow because they are two very important factors to keep an adequate water quality.

  • Many types of door system are used in the Electric Multiple Unit (EMU). The door system is categorized to the two types of door system, sliding door and plug door. The sliding door is widely used in the EMU but has weak point for the noise problem. The plug door has advantages for the noise reduction characteristic. Nowaday electric door system is widely used and motor is a main part of driving system in the door system. We have to know the exact driving position of door system to control proper operation of the door. Actually encoder or tachometer is used for the position controlling, but it makes price increase and failure increase. In this paper, we study and describe motor current calculation method to contol and know exact driving position of door system.

  • This paper presents of position control of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) the implementation with Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) is proposed. Cascade control with inner loop as a current control and an outer loop as a position control is chosen for simplicity and fast response. FPGA is a single chip (single processing unit), which will perform the following tasks: receive and convert control signal, create a reference current signal, control current and create switch signal and act as position controller in a addition of zero form. The 10 kHz sampling frequency and 25 bit of floating point data are defined in this implementation.The experimental results show that the performance of FPGA based position control is comparable with the hardware based position control, with the advantage of control algorithm flexibility

  • This paper presents results of the development of the Turbo-generator system with structure which is HSG(High Speed Generator) installed to high speed gas-turbine engine directly. Turbo-generator with high speed motor-generator directly has many advantages aspects of weight, size, lubrication system and complexity of the system compared of conventional turbo-generator system with gear-box. But because of direct high speed operation of the high speed generator, we have to need stable high speed motor driving algorithm for perfect engine ignition when gas turbine starting. Also we have to need design of the PCU(Power Conditioning Unit) for converting high speed AC output power to conventional AC power or needed DC power.

  • This paper is a study on the implementation of speech recognition mobile robot to which the interactive speech recognition techniques is applied. The speech command uttered the sentential connected word and is asserted through the wireless mic system. This speech signal transferred LPC-cepstrum and shorttime energy which are computed from the received signal on the DSP board to notebook PC. In notebook PC, DP matching technique is used for recognizer and the recognition results are transferred to the motor control unit which output pulse signals corresponding to the recognized command and drive the stepping motor. Grammar network applied to reduce the recognition speed of the recogniger, so that real time recognition is realized. The misrecognized command is revised by interface revision through the conversation with mobile robot. Therefore, user can move the mobile robot to the direction which user wants.

  • As is well known, the power equations of the N-node system have 2N-1 voltage solutions at most. The vlotage solutions are characterized by the introduction of the mode concept in this paper. There are two mode voltages at one node. One is defined as the (+) mode voltage and the other is defined as the (-) mode one. In this paper, we show that the (-) mode voltage responds to the increase of the power condenser almost adversly to the response of the (+) one. We study how to prevent the voltage collapse in the system with the induction motor load. The critical values of the gain and the time constant in case of the continuous power condenser control, and of the unit power condenser and the closing time delay in case of the discontinuous control for the prevention of the voltage collapse, are calculated. The effect of the composition ratio of the impedance load to the induction moter load on the above critical values are also investigated.

  • A worm screw is widely used in a geared motor unit for motion conversion from rotation to linear. For mass production of a high quality worm, the current rolling process is substituted with the milling process. Since the milling process enables the integration of all operations of worm manufacturing on a CNC(Computer Numerical Control) lathe, productivity can be remarkably improved. In this study, the tooling system for side milling on a CNC lathe to improve machinability is developed. However, the cutting tool-workpiece interference is important factors to be considered for producing high quality worms. For adaptability of various worms machining, the tool-workpiece interference simulation system based on a tool-tip trajectory model is developed. The developed simulation system is verified through several kinds of worms and experimental results.

  • In this paper, a wind power simulator is designed and implemented. To realize the torque of wind blade, a DC motor is used as a variable torque input device. An induction machine is used as a generator of which speed is controlled to maintain the optimal tip speed ratio during wind speed change. Input torque of system is controlled by armature current of DC motor and speed is controlled by generator control unit using field oriented control algorithm. Various control algorithms such as MPPT, soft start up, the simulator reactive power control, can be developed and tested using the simulator.
