In this paper, we propose a do-interlacing algorithm using integral projection-based motion estimation considering Region Of Interest(ROI). The proposed motion estimation method finds the motion of the given ROI accurately with low computational cost. In order to incorporate the motion estimation in do-interlacing, an entire image is first segmented into multiple ROIs according to the temporally predicted block-wise motion types and spatial positions. Then, motion vectors of respective ROIs are obtained by the integral projection method. In this paper, totally five ROIs, one for the global motion and four for the local motions, are made, and therefore, five motion vectors are produced for each field. By using the estimated motion vectors, motion compensation is performed for increasing the vortical resolution of the converted frames. Finally, do-interlaced frames are obtained by effectively combining the results of motion compensation and stable intra-field do-interlacing according to the reliability of motion compensation. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm provides better image quality than existing algorithms in both subjective and objective measures.
In this paper, we propose an error resilience video coder which uses a hybrid error concealment algorithm. Firstly, the algorithm uses the error concealment with data hiding. If the hiding information is lost, the motion vector of lost macroblock is computed with adaptive selection of adjacent motion vectors and OBMC (Overlapped Block Motion Compensation) is applied with this motion vector. We know our algorithm is more effective in case of continuous GOB. The results show more significant improvement than many temporal concealment methods such as MVRI (Motion Vector Rational Interpolation) or existing error concealment using data hiding.

In this paper, a new efficient algorithm for global motion estimation is proposed. This algorithm uses a previous 4-parameter model based global motion estimation algorithm and M-estimator for improving the accuracy and robustness of the estimate. The first algorithm uses the block based motion vector fields and which generates a coarse global motion parameters. And second algorithm is M-estimator technique for getting precise global motion parameters. This technique does not increase the computational complexity significantly, while providing good results in terms of estimation accuracy. In this work, an initial estimation for the global motion parameters is obtained using simple 4-parameter global motion estimation approach. The parameters are then refined using M-estimator technique. This combined algorithm shows significant reduction in mean compensation error and shows performance improvement over simple 4-parameter global motion estimation approach.

In this paper, we propose an algorithm for interlaced-to-progressive conversion by the weighted summation of the information collected from spatial do-interlacing method, in which the weighted edge based line average is applied, and the temporal method in which the motion compensation is employed by using hi-directional BMA (block matching algorithm). We employed time-recursive and motion adaptive processing as motion detection is involved. Also, a median filter is used to deal with limitation of the linear summation in which only an intermediate of values being involved is determined. The main goal of the approach is to overcome the shortcomings of each of the do-interlacing techniques without significant increment of the computational complexity, and the proposed method is apt to implement in hardware for real-time processing.

The three-step search (TSS) algorithm for block motion estimation has been widely used in real-time video coding due to the simplicity of the algorithm significant reduction of computationl cost and good performance. In this paper an improved three-step search (ITS) algorithm is proposed to improve the performance of the TSS algorithm. Simulation results show that in terms of motion compensation errors the proposed ITSS outperforms some popular fast search algorithms while it has the lower computational complexity.
In this paper, a novel frame rate up conversion (FRUC) algorithm using adaptive extended bilateral motion estimation (AEBME) is proposed. Conventionally, extended bilateral motion estimation (EBME) conducts dual motion estimation (ME) processes on the same region, therefore involves high complexity. However, in this proposed scheme, a novel block type matching procedure is suggested to accelerate the ME procedure. We calculate the edge information using sobel mask, and the calculated edge information is used in block type matching procedure. Based on the block type matching, decision will be made whether to use EBME. Motion vector smoothing (MVS) is adopted to detect outliers and correct outliers in the motion vector field. Finally, overlapped block motion compensation (OBMC) and motion compensated frame interpolation (MCFI) are adopted to interpolate the intermediate frame in which OBMC is employed adaptively based on frame motion activity. Experimental results show that this proposed algorithm has outstanding performance and fast computation comparing with EBME.

In this paper, we propose design of a high-performance vehicle imaging information system for an efficient vehicle imaging stabilization. The proposed system was designed the algorithm by divided as motion estimation and motion compensation. The motion estimation were configured as local motion vector estimation and irregular local motion vector detection, global motion vector estimation. The motion compensation was corrected for the four directions for compensate to the shake of vehicle video image using estimate GMV. The designed algorithm were designed the motion compensation technology chip by applied to IP for vehicle imaging stabilization. In this paper, the experimental results of the proposed vehicle imaging information system were proved to the effectiveness by compared with other methods, because imaging stabilization of moving vehicle was not used of memory by processing real-time. Also, it could be obtained to reduction effect of calculation time by arithmetic operation through to block matching.

In this paper, a small synthetic aperture radar(SAR) system with 30 cm resolution is proposed, and a RAW data-based Doppler parameter estimation and motion compensation algorithm is described in detail. Acquisition of both PolSAR and InSAR data are enabled because there are two channels each in the transmitter and receiver modules. Automotive-based field work is performed to obtain PolSAR data, and signal processing results are ultimately obtained. A motion compensation algorithm is used to mitigate the residual phase error due to platform oscillation, and improved performance is obtained with the motion compensation algorithm using the automotive field test data.

The traditional block-based motion compensation methods in frame rate up-conversion (FRUC) only use a single uniquely motion vector field. However, there will always be some mistakes in the motion vector field whether the advanced motion estimation (ME) and motion vector analysis (MA) algorithms are performed or not. Once the motion vector field has many mistakes, the quality of the interpolated frame is severely affected. In order to solve the problem, this paper proposes a novel joint overlapped block motion compensation method (8J-OBMC) which adopts motion vectors of the interpolated block and its 8-neighbor blocks to jointly interpolate the target block. Since the smoothness of motion filed makes the motion vectors of 8-neighbor blocks around the interpolated block quite close to the true motion vector of the interpolated block, the proposed compensation algorithm has the better fault-tolerant capability than traditional ones. Besides, the annoying blocking artifacts can also be effectively suppressed by using overlapped blocks. Experimental results show that the proposed method is not only robust to motion vectors estimated wrongly, but also can to reduce blocking artifacts in comparison with existing popular compensation methods.
Distributed compressed video sensing (DCVS) is a framework that integrates both compressed sensing and distributed video coding characteristics to achieve a low complexity video sampling. In DCVS schemes, motion estimation & motion compensation is employed at the decoder side, similarly to distributed video coding (DVC), for a low-complex encoder. However, since a simple BCS-SPL algorithm is applied to a residual arising from motion estimation and compensation in conventional MC-BCS-SPL (motion compensated block compressed sensing with smoothed projected Landweber) scheme, the reconstructed visual qualities are severly degraded in Wyner-Ziv (WZ) frames. Furthermore, the scheme takes lots of iteration to reconstruct WZ frames. In this paper, the conventional MC-BCS-SPL algorithm is improved to be operated in more effective way in WZ frames. That is, first, the proposed algorithm calculates a correlation coefficient between two reference key frames and, then, by selecting adaptively the reference frame, the residual reconstruction in pixel domain is performed to the conventional BCS-SPL scheme. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm achieves significantly better visual qualities than conventional MC-BCS-SPL algorithm, while resulting in the significant reduction of the decoding time.
