  • In this paper, we propose efficient motion vector refinement algorithm for frame-rate reduction transcoding. The proposed algorithm is to set the search range for motion refinement based on the incoming motion vector. The algorithm calculates the importance of motion vector of the skipped frame and then selects two motion vector to set search range. Through this process, we determine the accuracy of incoming motion vector and set the search range lot refinement adaptively by means of the accuracy. In experiments, we show efficiency of our algorithm to reduce the search points for refinement.

  • Measurements of circular motion accuracy of NC lathe have achieved with ball bar systems proposed by Bryan, but the ball bar systems have ifluenced on the measuring data by way of the accuracy of the balls and the contacts of balls and bar seats. Therefore in this study, error data during of circular motion of ATC(Automatic Tool Changer) of NC lathe will be acquired by reading zx plane coordinates using two optical linear scales. Two optical linear scales of measuring unit are fixed on z-x plane of NC lathe, and the moving part is fixed to ATC and then is made to receive data of coordinates of the ATC at constant time intervals using tick pulses comming out from computer. And then, error data files of radial direction of circular motion are calculated with the data read, and the aspect of circular motion are modeled to plots, and are analysed by means of statistical treatments of circularity, means, standard deviations etc.

  • An analysis method which calculates corrective machining information for improving the motion accuracy of linear motion guide Is proposed in this paper. The method is composed of two algorithms. One is the algorithm fur prediction of the motion errors from rail form error. The other is the algorithm for prediction of rail form error from the motion errors of table. Transfer function is utilized in each algorithm, which represents the ratio of bearing reaction force variation to unit magnitude of spatial frequencies of raid from error. As the corrective machining information is acquired from the measured motion errors of table, the method has a merit not to measure rail form error directly. Validity of the method is verified both theoretically and experimentally. By applying the method, linear motion error of test equipment is reduced from 5.97$\mu$m to 0.58$\mu$m, and reduced from 32.78arcsec to 6.21 arcsec in case of angular motion error. From the results, it is confirmed that the method is very effective to improve the motion accuracy of linear motion guide.

  • The rigid body characteristics (value of mass, Position of center of mass, moments and products of inertia) of mechanical systems can be identified from FRF data or vibration spectra of rigid body motion. Therefore the accuracy of rigid body characteristics is connected directly with the accuracy of measured data for rigid body motions. In this paper, a method of improving accuracy of measurement of rigid body motion is presented. Applying rigid body theory, ail translational and rotational displacements at a tentative point on the rigid body are calculated using the measured translational displacements for several points and transfer matrix. Then the estimated displacements for the identical points are calculated using the 6 displacements of the tentative Point and transfer matrix. By using correlation coefficient between measured and estimated displacements, we can detect the existence of errors that are contained in a certain measured displacement. Consequently, the improved rigid body motion with respect to a tentative point can be obtained by eliminating the contaminated data.

  • Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate the accuracy and reliability of Spine-Pelvis Monitor(SPM) that was developed to measure 3-dimensional motion of spine and pelvis using tilt sensor and gyro sensor. Background: The main cause of low back pain is very much associated with the task using the low back and pelvis, but no measurement technique can quantify the both spine and pelvis. Method: For testing the SPM, 125 angles from three anatomical planes were measured three times in order to evaluate the accuracy and reliability. The accuracy of SPM in measuring dynamic motion was evaluated using digital motion analysis system. The motion pattern captured by two measuring methods was compared with each other. In result, the percentage error and Cronbach coefficient alpha were calculated to evaluate the accuracy and reliability. Results: The percentage error was 0.35% in flexion-extension on sagittal plane, 0.43% in lateral bending on coronal plane, and 0.40% in twisting on transverse plane. The Cronbach coefficient alpha was 1.00, 0.99 and 0.99 in sagittal, coronal and transvers plane, respectively. Conclusion: The SPM showed less than 1% error for static measurement, and showed reasonably similar pattern with the digital motion system. Application: The results of this study showed that the SPM can be the measuring method of spine pelvis motion that enhances the kinematic analysis of low back dynamics.

  • This paper presents the motion accuracy simulation considering loads such as workpiece weight, cutting force, cogging force of a linear motor, and force caused by misalignment and runout error of a ballscrew in linear motion units. The transfer function method is basically utilized to estimate 5-DOF motion errors, together with the equilibrium equations of force and moment on the table. The transfer function method is modified in order to consider clearance changed according to the loads in the double sided hydrostatic/aerostatic bearings. Then, the analytic model for predicting the 5-DOF motion errors is proposed with the modified transfer function method. Motion errors were simulated under different loading conditions in the linear motion units using hydrostatic, aerostatic, and linear motion bearings, respectively. And the proposed analytic model was verified by comparing the estimated and measured motion errors.

  • It is possible to improve the accuracy of the motion estimation for a video by applying a variable block size. However, it has limits in the zoom motion estimation. In this paper, we propose a method for estimating the zoom motion with variable block size. The proposed method separates the background within the object picture by depth information obtained from a depth camera, and only the object regions are applied to zoom scale, but the background is not applied. In addition, the object regions select efficiently variable block size mode in consideration of the generated motion vectors and the accuracy of motion estimation at the same time. Simulation results show the accuracy of the motion estimation and the number of motion vectors for the proposed method. It is verified that the proposed method can reduce the number of motion while maintaining the similar accuracy of motion estimation than the conventional motion estimation methods.

  • Positioning accuracy largely depends on the variation of friction force in guide table, geometric accuracy of feed unit like as ballscrew and controllable accrecy of servo unit, in general. This paper deals with improvement of microstep resolution about hydrostatic table. Torque control mode have a advantage in microstep test, and more stable than velocity control mode in low velocity motion. Hydro static table have the elastic behavior within several .mu.m, so different character exist between the elastic motion and rolling motion. Integral gain is dominant than other gain in elastic motion. In order to improve response time in elastic motion, increasing gain is suggested within the stable region.

  • This paper described a relationship between motion speed and working accuracy of industrial articulated robot arms. Working accuracy of the robot arm deteriorates at high speed operation caused by a nonlinear transformation of the kinematics and the time delay of the robot arm dynamic. The deterioration of the following trajectory was expressed as a linear function of the squares of the robot arm motion speed, depending upon a posture of the robot arm and division interval of the objective trajectory.
