Mossbauer studies of LiFeO2 powders by sol-gel process (졸겔 합성에 의한 LiFeO2분말의 Mossbauer 연구)

  • $\alpha$-LiFe $O_2$ powders have been prepared by a sol-gel method. The crystallographic and magnetic properties were characterized with a x-ray diffractometry, Mossbauer spectroscopy, and vibrating Samples magnetometry. The ${\gamma}$-LiFe $O_2$+LiFe$_{5}$ $O_{8}$ phase is observed in the Samples annealed at $600^{\circ}C$ for 3h in air and $\alpha$-LiFe $O_2$ phase is observed in the Samples annealed at $600^{\circ}C$ for 3 h in $H_2$(5%)/Ar(Bal.) gas atmosphere. The crystal structure of $\alpha$-LiFe $O_2$ is found to be cubic with a lattice a=4.193$\pm$0.0005 $\AA$. The Neel temperature of $\alpha$-LiFe $O_2$ is found to be 130$\pm$3 K.

A study on the Mossbauer effect and optical properties of $^{57}Fe$-doped-GaAs ($^{57}Fe$ 도프된 GaAs의 Mossbauer 효과 및 광학적 특성에 관한 연구)

  • We have investigated Mossbauer effect and emission properties of the Fe-doped GaAs grown by liquid phase epitaxy (LPE). The powder type of isotope $^{57}Fe$ was used as a dopant source in LPE-GaAs. From the analysis of Mossbauer effect the value of isomer shift, 0.303$\pm$0.018 mm/sec, is calculated at low temperature. This means that charge state of Fe ion in GaAs is 3+. The results of double crystal x-ray rocking curve (DCRC) and low temperature photoluminescence (PL) show the crystal quality of the epitaxial layers are good. Unusual luminescence peaks from the Fe-GaAs epitaxial layers appeared at emission energy of 0.99 eV and 1.15 eV. We attribute these emissions to Fe-acceptor related two deep radiative centers.

A Study on Crystallographic and Mossbauer Spectroscopic Properties of Magnetic Oxide (산화물 자성체의 결정학적 및 뫼스바우어 분광학적 특성 연구)

  • The crystal structure and magnetic properties of magnetic oxide system (F $e_2$ $O_3$)$_{5}$(A $l_2$ $O_3$)$_{4-x}$(G $a_2$ $O_3$)$_{x}$)SiO has been studied using X-ray diffraction and Mossbauer spectroscopy The changes of magnetic structure by the Ga ion substitution and the temperature variation have been investigated using Mossbauer spectroscopy, and the results are compared with those of the SQUIB measurements. Results of X-ray diffraction indicated that the crystal structures of the system change from a cubic spinel type to an orthorhombic via the intermediate region. This magnetic oxide system seems to be new kind of spinel type ferrites containing high concentration of cation vacancies. Various and complicated Mossbauer spectra were observed in the samples (x>0.2) at temperatures lower than room temperature. This result could be explained by freezing of the superparamagnetic dusters. On cooling and substitution, magnetic states of the system show various and multicritical properties. Unexpected dip in magnetization curves below 50K was observed in SQUID measurements. It was interpreted as an effect of spin canting including spin freezing or collective spin behavior.ior.r.

The Particle Size Distribution of $\alpha-Fe_2O_3$from Mossbauer Spectra (${\Alpha}-Fe_2O_3$ 미세입자의 크기분포에 관한 Mossbauer 분광학적 연구)

  • ${\Alpha}-Fe_2O_3$ was accomplished by chemical method as low temperature as possible and the crystallographic and magnetic properties have been studied by Mossbauer spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. The sample heated at 15$0^{\circ}C$ is found to have a Corundums symmetry with the hexagonal lattice constant a=8.26$\pm$0.05$\AA$, c=8.75$\pm$0.05$\AA$. The M$\"{o}$ssbauer spectra between the 4.2K and the room temperature show that the ${\Alpha}-Fe_2O_3$ crystallized with a single phase and fine sizes. The particle size distribution has the Gaussian distribution center at 98$\AA$ and the half width of 32$\AA$.TEX>.

  • $Y_{2.5}La_{0.5}Fe_5O_{12}$ is fabricated by a sol-gel method and the magnetic properties of single phase garnet are investigated by using X-ray diffraction, vibrating sample magnetometer, scanning electron microscopy and M$\"{o}$ssbauer spectroscopy. The single phase powders garnet was fired at 100$0^{\circ}C$ for 8 hours. The crystal structures of samples are cubic garnet. Mossbauer spectroscopy were measured from 13 K to 750 K. M$\"{o}$ssbauer spectra show that the iron exist ferric trivalence in sample. The spin wave constants were determined $B_{3/2}=0.32{\pm}0.05,\; C_{5/2}=0.18{\pm}0.05$ and Debye temperature were determined 382 K at 24(d) site and 246 K at 16(a)-site. The saturation magnetization $M_s$ of powder is 25 emu/g. 25 emu/g.

Mössbauer Study of Al0.2CoFe1.8O4 Ferrite Powders (Mössbauer 분광법에 의한 Al0.2CoFe1.8O4분말의 자기적 특성 연구)

  • The $Al_{0.2}$CoF $e_{1.8}$ $O_4$ferrite powders have been prepared by the sol-gel method. The crystallographic and magnetic properties of the sample depending on annealing temperature have been investigated by means of x-ray diffraction, FE SEM, Mossbauer spetroscopy and vibrating sample magnetometry. The x-ray diffractions of all samples annealing temperature above 873 K clearly indicate the presence of spinel structure, the lattice constant decrease from 8.425 $\AA$ at 873 K to 8.321 $\AA$ at 1073 K, whereas the particle size rapidly increase from about 39 nm at 673 K to about 108 nm at 1073 K. The Mossbauer spectra annealed above 873 K could be fitted as the superposition of two sextets due to F $e^{3+}$ at A-site and B-site. The isomer shift (IS) and quadruple splitting (QS) values nearly constant with annealing temperature, whereas magnetic hyperfine field ( $H_{hf}$) of A-site slowly in crease and that of B-site fastly increases with increasing annealing temperature. The magnetic behaviour of powders shows that the saturation magnetization increase from 0.7 emu/g at 473 K to 72.1 emu/g at 1073 K while the coercivity decrease from 0.951 kOe at 673 K to 0.374 kOe at 1073 K with increasing annealing temperature.

  • Hexagonal M-type barium ferrite $BaFe_{12}O_{19}$ was prepared by a direct solid state reaction between $BaCO_3$ and ${\Alpha}-Fe_2O_3$ powders at temperatures ranging from 800 to 1000 $^{\circ}C$ in a nitrogen or air environment. The effects of NaCl on phase transformation of mixture of $BaCO_3$ and ${\Alpha}-Fe_2O_3$ to $BaFe_{12}O_{19}$ were studied using X-ray diffraction and M$\"{o}$ssbauer spectroscopy. Regardless of the environment for heat treatment or the added NaCl, two phases, BaFe and ${\Alpha}-Fe_2O_3$, coexist for samples heat treated at 800 $^{\circ}C$, but a single phase was observed from samples heat treated at 100$0^{\circ}C$ in both air and nitrogen environments. It was found that the addition of NaCl reduced the amount of $a-Fe_2O_3$ phase.hase.

  • Magnetic properties and crystallographic properties of $Cu_{0.95}Ge_{0.95}Fe_{0.1}O_3$ were studied by using x-ray diffraction, superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) and Mossbauer spectroscopy. Our sample has orthorhombic structure and the lattice constants are a = 4.795 $\AA$, b = 8.472 $\AA$, c = 2.932 $\AA$. The spin-Peierls (SP) transition temperatures of our sample is 13 K. The Mossbauer spectra consisted with two Zeeman sextets and one doublet due to $Fe^{3+}$ions. The Zeeman sextets come from tetrahedral $Fe^{3+}$ions and the doublets come from octahedral $Fe^{3+}$ions. The jump up of magnetic hyperfine field of 2nd Zeeman sextet and the increasing of the values of quadrupole splitting and isomer shift of doublet below SP transition temperature could be interpreted related with the atomic displacements. The N el temperature is 715 K, the Debye temperature are 540 K for octahedral site and 380 K for tetrahedral site, respectively.
