  • Strain-hardening cementitious composite(SHCC) has been expected excellent reinforcement performance in beam-column joint area. The main variables considered include the type of cement composites(premixed mortar, SHCC with hybrid fiber) and shape and existence of the tie bar. As the result of the tests, existence of the tie bar specimen showed better overall behavior than another.

  • Fire resistance and impact sound insulation tests were performed for a floor assembly, of which stiffness was reinforced by shortening the span of floor joists by installing glulam beam additionally in the middle or one thirds of the original span, and which an additional ceiling component was installed apart from floor structure. By applying the isolated ceiling, timber framed floor showed 1 hour of fire resistance even in case that dead load was increased by considering cement mortar layer for radiant floor heating. Insulation performance against light and heavy impact sound was improved significantly by applying the sound absorbing layer of big mass and high elasticity in addition to the stiffness improvement and isolated ceiling.

  • In this study, the behavior of R/C beam strengthened with carbon fiber laminate(C.F.L) is analyzed from the test results. Test parameters ar the width and the thickness of C.F.L. The failure mode and ultimate load are analyzed from these measured data. Test results shows that the peak load of specimens strengthened with C.F.L. is increased to 1.27~2.04 times of that of non-rehabilitation specimen. The wider lap width, large amount of rehabilitation materials, the larger strength is obtained.

  • The purpose of the research is to assess the accuracy of steel bar detector among other nondestructive testing equipment. The result of previous research shows that the average errors of rebar detector are 14.7% for the cover depth, 2.3% for the rebar spacing, and 11% for the rebar diameter. But this experiment was performed at the laboratory and the mortar was used for covering the steel bars instead of concrete. In situ condition can be different from the laboratory's so the outcomes do not correspond with those of laboratory. This research was performed at the buildings to be reconstructed. Nondestructive and destructive testing can be performed side by side since the building if to be destroyed. Steel bar detector was operated on the beam and the column and concrete cover of those members was removed for the actual measurement of rebar depth, spacing, and diameter finally, presumed value can be directly compared with actual data.

  • Flexural fracture characteristics of newly-developed Grid-type carbon fiber plastics in the deteriorated reinforced concrete structures were investigated by the four-points fracture test to verify the strengthening effects in the beam specimens. Results showed that initial cracks appeared in the boundary layers of fibers embedded in the newly-placed mortar concrete slowly progressed to the direction of supports and showed fracture of fiber plastics and brittle failure of concrete in compression in sequence after the yielding of steel reinforcement. Accordingly the reasonable area of Grid-type carbon-fiber plastics in the strengthening design of deteriorated RC structures should be limited and given based on the ultimate strength design method to avoid the brittle failure of concrete structures.

  • Reinforced concrete beams or slabs are often strengthened or repaired using polymer modified cement concrete Stresses can develop in the structure by ambient temperature changes because thermal coefficients of the repair material and the existing concrete are typically different. Especially, shear stress often causes debonding of the interface. In this study, a rational procedure was developed where anchors can be designed in strengthened or repaired concrete members to prevent debonding at the interface. The current design procedure considers thicknesses and elastic moduli of the repair material and existing concrete, ambient temperature change, length, and beam-vs.-slab action. The procedure is also applicable to stresses developed by differential drying shrinkage.

  • Recently, the usage of polymer concrete mortar gathering an interest as a new construction material rapidly increases inside and outside of the country because it is an environment-friendly and endurable material. However, up to these days, the researches about the polymer composite have not been satisfactorily conducted. The polymer concrete is superior to the general cement materials in the properties of strength and durability while it is inferior in elastic modulus. Because that the members using the polymer concrete have therefore higher strength and ductility than the members of general cement concrete, an analysis equation of high-strength cement concrete can be referenced but it is not applied for the researches about the polymer concrete members. In this study, the flexural properties of T-shaped beam of the steel- and GFRP-reinforced polymer concrete are analyzed to examine the suggested analysis equation. Results of this experimental researches are to be used as the basic data in a structural design of the polymer concrete.

  • A series of reinforced concrete beams was tested to evaluate the flexural performance of the repaired RC beams. The key parameters for this study were the size and location of the patch, and the repair materials, including polymer, polymer-cementitious and cementitious materials. The repaired specimens failed by a typical flexural mode with minor interfacial bond failure. Beams repaired with polymer, polymer-cementitious and cementitious materials recover 100%, 91%, and 97% of the flexural strength respectively, while beams with cement mortar lose approximately 30% of the strength. Compared with the pressure injection techniques the specimens repaired with patching techniques show low flexural strength, with significant interfacial bond failure. Location and size of the repaired part do not affect the recovering performance. Interfacial behavior between repair and strengthening materials is the major influencing factor for the composite structures.

  • Carbon fiber reinforced plastic(CFRP) plate Is one of the alterative materials for soengthening of reinforced and prestressed connote members due to excellent strength and light weight In this paper, the behavior of beams strengthened with CFRP plate and CFS(Carbon fiber sheet) is observed and analyzed from the test results. Especially specimens with thick plate is tested when large moment and large shear lone appear in same position. The main failure mode is a peeling-off of the CFRP plate near the loading points due to flexural-shear crack, Because of this failure mode, failure load is not linearly proportional to the thickness of CFRP plates. When beam is wrapped with CFS around oかy loading point it does not influence on the failure loads. Depending on the loading pattern, it is necessary to consider different design criteria for reinforced concrete members with external reinforcement. When line moment and large shear force appear in same location, maximum thickness may limit to 0.6mm and ratio between moment of strengthened beam and moment of unstrengthened beam is proposed 1.5-2.0. In order to use the plate of thicker than 6mm, CFS may be extended to the location which moment of strengthened beam is 1.5 times than moment of unstrengthened beam.

  • The floor heating method generally uses a wet construction method including the installation of resilient material, lightweight foam concrete, heating piping, and finishing mortar. Such a wet construction method not only delays other internal finishing processes during curing period for two mortar pouring process, but also has a disadvantage that it is difficult to replace the floor heating layer when it deteriorated because it is integrated with the frame. Dry floor heating construction method can be a good alternative in that it can solve these defects. Conversely, when it applied to the wall structure that is vulnerable to the interlayer noise compared with the column-beam structure, the question about the heavy-impact sound(HIS) insulation performance is raised. Therefore, conventional dry floor heating method is hard to apply to the wall structure apartments. Therefore, for the purpose to improve the applicability of dry floor heating method in wall structure apartments, this study investigated the change of floor impact sound, especially HIS insulation performance which is one of the required performance for the floor structure. This study tried to examine whether the change of heavy-impact sound pressure level(SPL) shows a tendency at the significant level according to the shape and mass of the floor structure. Through filed experiments on wall structure apartment, this study confirmed that the form of the raised floor shows better HIS insulation performance than the fully-supported form. In addition, it was also confirmed that the HIS insulation performance increases with the mass on the upper part. Moreover, this study found the fact that a mass of about 30 kg/m2 or more should be placed on the upper structure to reduce the heavy-impact SPL according to the bang machine measuring method. Although this study has a limit due to insufficient experiment samples, if the accuracy of this study is increased, it will contribute to the diffusion of dry floor heating by setting the HIS insulation performance target and designing the dry floor heating structure that meets the target.
