Peperite exposed along the Dajeonsa basalt in Mt.Juwang, Cheongsong emerged as a consequence of the simultaneity of volcano-sedimentary sequences. This study aims to classify peperites as morphological characteristics and infer the formation process by the field investigation, image analysis, X-Ray Diffractometer and polarization microscope for the magma-sediment interaction mechanism and paleoenvironment. As a result of the field investigation globular(fluidal) peperite is the representative feature at the bottom of Dajeonsa basalt, sub-angular peperite at the middle and irregular peperite at the top. Peperite domains range from sheet and pod or feeder conduit. Although the study that the morphologies of peperite are controled by the sorts of sediment and lava or magma has tended to center around the peperite, the study addresses not single mechanism but the multi-stage mechanism because Mt.juwang peperite, under the same conditions, varies in shapes and sizes and also the ratio of sediments that show the most change of the peperite affects to the formation of peperite.
A dialogue system includes various morphological analyses for recognizing a user's intention from the user's utterances. However, a user can represent various intentions via emotional states in addition to morphological expressions. Thus, a user's emotion recognition can analyze a user's intention in various manners. This paper presents a new method to automatically recognize a user's emotion for a dialogue system. For general emotions, we define nine categories using a psychological approach. For an optimal feature set, we organize a combination of sentential, a priori, and context features. Then, we employ a support vector machine (SVM) that has been widely used in various learning tasks to automatically classify a user's emotions. The experiment results show that our method has a 62.8% F-measure, 15% higher than the reference system.

We propose a new fast, algorithm which is used for detecting frontal face in the frequency domain based on human skin-color using OCT coefficient of dynamic image compression and skin color information. The region where each pixel has a value of skin-color were extracted from U and V value based on DCT coefficient obtained in the process of Image compression using skin-color map in the Y, U, V color space A morphological filter and labeling method are used to eliminate noise in the resulting image We propose the algorithm to detect fastly human face that estimate the directional feature and variance of luminance block of human skin-color Then Extraction of face was completed adaptively on both background have the object analogous to skin-color and background is simple in the proposed algorithm The performance of face detection algorithm is illustrated by some simulation results earned out on various races We confined that a success rate of 94 % was achieved from the experimental results.
The genus Dendronephthya, generally known as soft corals, is reported as an abundant and variable taxon. They mostly distribute in warmer waters of the Undo-Pacific Ocean region including Korea. In spite of their abundance and ecological importance as habitats of marine organisms, there are difficulties in the study of their identification and systematics because they have morphological variabilities and limited taxonomec characters. To resolve the problems, we attempted to elucidate the genetic relationships in the genus Dendronephthya by using random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) analysis. This study was based on eight dendronephthian species and one Alcyoniidae species, Alcyonium gracillimum, as an outgroup. The results from all analysis suggest that they could be classified into four groups by the growth form and the anthocodial grades as follows: the first one,D. putteri and D. suensoni with the divaricate form and VI grade; the second one,D. sp.1 and D. sp.2 with the divaricate form and III or IV grade; the third one, D. gigantea and D. aurea being closer than D. spinifera with the glomerate form and III grade; the last one, D. castanea related to D. gigantea rather than D. putteri with the umbellate form and IV grade. Moreover, the divaricate form was separated from the group of the glomerate and umbellate form. At the intraspecies level, the types of the D. castanea, D. gigantea and D. spinifera were separated depending on the feature of spicules in the polyp head, and the coloration could not influence genetic variation. From this study, we can confirm that their morphological characters are compatible with the genetic variation, also RAPD analysis is a very useful method for resolving the systematic relationships of den-deonephthians.
The lignin degrading fungi were isolated from decayed woods and fruiting bodies gathered in forest area. Lignin degradation ability was investigated by Klason lignin of microbial treated pine wood. Among selected fungi, CJ-6 had 49.48% Klason lignin loss which was greater than 40.58% shown by Trametes versicolor that it is known as a typical lignin degrading fungus. Also, the biodegradation process and morphological features of degraded pine wood by selected fungi were observed with the scanning electron microscope. At the stage of 20 days incubation, mycelia invasion was observed without any failure of wood structure. At 60 days, wood decay was gone in some degree and one part of tracheid and ray wall was destroyed. At 100 days, tracheid wall was severely destroyed, and distinction between ray cell was difficult as cell wall was decayed much.
A feature-based 3D modeling algorithm is presented in this paper. Since conventional methods use depth-based techniques, they need much time for the image matching to extract depth information. Even feature-based methods have less computation load than that of depth-based ones, the calculation of modeling error about whole pixels within a triangle is needed in feature-based algorithms. It also increase the computation time. Therefore, the proposed algorithm consists of three phases, which are an initial 3D model generation, model evaluation, and model refinement phases, in order to acquire an efficient 3D model. Intensity gradients and incremental Delaunay triangulation are used in the Initial model generation. In this phase, a morphological edge operator is adopted for a fast edge filtering, and the incremental Delaunay triangulation is modified to decrease the computation time by avoiding the calculation errors of whole pixels and selecting a vertex at the near of the centroid within the previous triangle. After the model generation, sparse vertices are matched, then the faces are evaluated with the size, approximation error, and disparity fluctuation of the face in evaluation stage. Thereafter, the faces which have a large error are selectively refined into smaller faces. Experimental results showed that the proposed algorithm could acquire an adaptive model with less modeling errors for both smooth and abrupt areas and could remarkably reduce the model acquisition time.
Change detection is a useful technology that can be applied to various fields, taking temporal change information with the comparison and analysis among multi-temporal satellite images. Especially, change detection that utilizes high-resolution satellite imagery can be implemented to extract useful change information for many purposes, such as the environmental inspection, the circumstantial analysis of disaster damage, the inspection of illegal building, and the military use, which cannot be achieved by lower middle-resolution satellite imagery. However, because of the special characteristics that result from high-resolution satellite imagery, it cannot use a pixel-based method that is used for low-resolution satellite imagery. Therefore, it must be used a feature-based algorithm based on the geographical and morphological feature. This paper presents the system that builds the change map by digitizing the boundary of the changed object. In this system, we can make the change map using manual or semi-automatic digitizing through the user interface implemented with a floating window that enables to detect the sign of the change, such as the construction or dismantlement, more efficiently.

Due to the popularization of high-performance capturing equipments and the emergence of powerful image-editing softwares, it is easy to make high-quality counterfeit money. However, the probability of detecting counterfeit money to the general public is extremely low and the detection device is expensive. In this paper, a counterfeit money detection algorithm using a general purpose scanner and computer system is proposed. First, the printing features of color printers are calculated using morphological operations and gray-level co-occurrence matrix. Then, these features are used to train a support vector machine classifier. This trained classifier is applied for identifying either original or counterfeit money. In the experiment, we measured the detection rate between the original and counterfeit money. Also, the printing source was identified. The proposed algorithm was compared with the algorithm using wiener filter to identify color printing source. The accuracy for identifying counterfeit money was 91.92%. The accuracy for identifying the printing source was over 94.5%. The results support that the proposed algorithm performs better than previous researches.
The present study was performed with morphological and molecular analysis (cox1 and nad1 mitochondrial genes) to identify the proglottids of spirometrid tapeworm found in the stool of an African lion, Panthera leo, in the Serengeti plain of Tanzania. A strand of tapeworm strobila, about 75 cm in length, was obtained in the stool of a male African lion in the Serengeti National Park ($34^{\circ}$ 50' E, $02^{\circ}$ 30' S), Tanzania, in February 2012. The morphological features of the adult worm examined exhibited 3 uterine coils with a bow tie appearance and adopted a diagonal direction in the second turn. The posterior uterine coils are larger than terminal uterine ball and the feature of uteri are swirling rather than spirally coiling. The sequence difference between the Spirometra species (Tanzania origin) and S. erinaceieuropaei (GenBank no. KJ599680) was 9.4% while those of S. decipiens (GenBank no. KJ599679) differed by 2.1% in the cox1 and nad1 genes. Phylogenetic tree topologies generated using the 2 analytic methods were identical and presented high level of confidence values for the 3 major branches of the 3 Spirometra species in the cox1 gene. The morphological and molecular findings obtained in this study were nearly coincided with those of S. ranarum. Therefore, we can know for the first time that the African lion, Panthera leo, is to the definitive host of this tapeworm.
The short-necked clam is distributed widely in Korean tidal flats and it is a much an important bivalve quantitatively as to control the production of the tidal flat. The shell of this clam tends to show remarkable morphological variations depending on the habitat. Under a seemingly favorable condition for the growth , the color pattern of shell of the clam is clear and obvious and having less weight and elongated shape, the ratios of shell length to both height and width are small . On the contrary , when the environment appears to be an unfavorable one, the shell is found to be heavy and stunted with smudgy color pattern. If this correlation between could be a basis for the judgement in suitability of growth environment for the clam. In the Ikawazu Bay, Japan, it is revealed that the elongated shell is produced from the coast outside of the Bay (1) , the stunted from the esturay (2) and the intermediate from the floodgate area (3) and the middle of the Bay (4). Followings are the results obtained from the morphological investigation of the claim in this Bay. 1. Relationship between the shell length and the largest shell rib length is linear and between the shell length and the shell width is also linear but with a critical point at the shell length of 17-20 mm. The ratio between the width and the largest rib length at a given shell length increases with the order of 1, 3, 4, and 2. 2. A gradual decreases of the ratio of the shell length to the largest rib length is observed when the former is less than 17-18 mm, and this ratio increases with the shell of longer. Also there is a different range of this ratio in each different location ; the greatest range in 2, the smallest in 1 and 4 being in between. 3. A similar biometric finding is apparent with the ratio between the length and width of the shell and the order in value is 2, 4, 1 and 3. 4. The ratios between the length and the largest rib length of elongated and stunted shell are 0.84-0.86 and 0.89-0.92, respectively , and those between the length and width are 0.40-0.51 and 0.49-0.58, respectively. 5. Generally , the elongated short necked clam shells are products of the tidal flat of good circulation of sea water with high salinity and smaller fluctuations of salinity and temperature within a day. The stunted shells are produced for tidal flats of opposite of above conditions.
