In this paper, focusing on Oscar Wilde's novel "The Picture of Dorian Gray," we explore the protagonist's lack of conscience and unethical attitude, emphasizing its relevance to our self-development and growth. The primary goal is to interpret the impact of Dorian Gray's actions and choices on personal development and growth, highlighting the importance of a specific mindset and attitude to the reader. It dissects how Wilde navigates the intricate layers of Dorian's character, exposing the ethical dilemmas and transformative moments that contribute to the profound changes within him. The examination sheds light on the depth and complexity of Dorian Gray's character, offering readers a nuanced understanding of the forces at play in his moral and psychological journey. Interpretation of Wilde's intent to impart lessons on the reader's personal growth and development through Dorian's story is undertaken. The discussion also explores the impact of Dorian's unethical attitude on contemporary readers and its influence on our daily lives and values.

In the global context, particularly in Christian nations, Christmas is considered a culturally and ethically significant time. In this study, we examine Charles Dickens' novel, "A Christmas Carol," and the celebration of Christmas in Korea. We explore the values of Christmas in Korea derived from the significance and importance of this novel. These values include repentance, empathy, compassion, and the importance of humanity. Korean Christmas is regarded as a time for practicing these values, bearing a message akin to the transformation of characters like Scrooge. Furthermore, "A Christmas Carol" conveys a message of improvement and change over time, emphasizing change and growth in Korean Christmas. People reflect on their past, correct their mistakes, nurture hope for the future, and experience personal growth and transformation. Additionally, the novel raises awareness of social injustice and inequality, offering alternatives. In Korean society, Christmas encourages the willingness to care for and help others, facilitating discussions and understanding of societal issues. For these reasons, "A Christmas Carol" is considered a culturally and ethically significant time in Korean Christmas, and the two are intertwined in various aspects. This study explores the interaction between cultural change and ethical teachings by 'A Christmas Carol' and investigates the impact of this work on Christmas culture and social change. It serves as the basis for emphasizing moral principles and humanity during the Christmas season, and this research provides suggestions for future research directions, aiming to deepen the understanding of Dickens' work and the importance of "A Christmas Carol." Through these efforts, it is expected that valuable insights into the connection between Christmas culture and moral messages will be gained. In this study, we will delve into the enduring appeal and cultural significance of "A Christmas Carol," discussing how this novel has evolved into a beloved holiday tradition and a true symbol of Christmas. We will also examine the adaptation of this novel into various media and its influence on holiday season celebrations. Insights into the impact of this novel on Korean society and its continued significance in modern times will be provided, suggesting a direction for a healthier and more desirable path for Korean society.

Due to the plethora of political, economic, and social challenges experienced on a global scale in the 21st century, students need to be concerned with more than their immediate surroundings (Johnson, 2005). When implemented in an educational setting, topics encompassing social justice may provide students with the confidence and skills to become "reflective, moral, caring, and active citizens in a troubled world" (Banks and Banks, 2009, p.5). The purpose of this article was to provide examples of undergraduate lessons focused on sweatshop conditions within three time periods of United States history that incorporate social justice into the course curriculum. By implementing social justice lessons into the curriculum, students can engage in critical reading, writing, and thinking about injustices faced by society. Girded with knowledge of past oppression within the apparel industry, students may become actively engaged in challenging social injustices in our world.

우리는 이 논문에서 존 스타인벡(John Steinbeck)의 "에덴의 동쪽(East of Eden)"에서 중요한 역할을 하고 있는 주인공 캐릭터인 Caleb Trask (또는 Cal)의 삶을 통해 얻은 교훈을 연구한 결과를 제시한다. Caleb의 삶은 자아, 타인, 그리고 사회와의 갈등을 극복하며 자아 발견의 과정에서 하나의 좋은 예를 제공해 주고 있다. 그는 여정 동안 자신의 감정을 인정하고 표현하는 법을 배우며 감정을 관리하고 이해하는 중요성을 강조한다. 욕망과 갈등에 직면하는 경우에는 지신이 생각하는 도덕적인 판단을 내려 행동하고, 윤리적 결정에 기반한 자기 결정의 중요성을 투명하게 보여주면서 자신의 진솔한 감정 표현과 수용은 감정 관리와 이해의 핵심 가치를 강조한다. 더불어 그의 이야기는 인간 관계에서 이해와 타협의 명확한 중요성을 강조한다. 우리는 이러한 주제에 대한 철저한 탐구를 제시하며, Caleb의 이야기에서 얻은 교훈이 어떻게 우리의 일상생활에 적용될 수 있는지를 고려한다. 이 논문에서 분석한 결과, 우리는 이러한 교훈을 어떻게 실제로 적용하고 실천할 수 있는지에 대한 통찰력을 얻을 것으로 기대한다.

이 논문에서는 조선 후기 사대부 시조에서 중요한 위치를 차지하는 황윤석 시조의 성격과 그 작품에 나타난 작가 의식을 논의했다. 사실을 제시하거나 교훈을 내리는 내용을 표현함으로써 황윤석 시조는 교술적 성격을 가지게 되었다. 사실의 중심 내용은 군주의 격려, 군주의 생일과 기일, 벼슬 제수 등 군은 관련 사항과 선산의 풍수적 빼어남, 선조의 훌륭한 행적, 가문의 아름다운 전통, 작가의 출생지, 태몽 등 집안 관련 사항들로 되어 있다. 교훈의 중심 내용은 유교 학문의 목적, 성선설의 입장, 인간 심성의 특성, 심성 수양의 방법 등 심성 수양 관련 사항과 오륜, 부부유별, 남녀유별 등 유교 실천 윤리 관련 사항들로 되어 있다. 황윤석은 시조에서 정치, 경제적으로 상승하려는 의식과 이념을 지향하는 의식을 표현했다. 정치적 참여의 기회를 부여한 군주에 대한 절대적 충성을 보이거나 치국이나 평천하의 준비를 갖춘 가문에 대한 자랑을 하는 과정에서 상승 지향적 의식을 드러냈고, 주로 유교 윤리의 철저한 실천이나 전통 성리학의 고수, 인물성동논의 주장으로 현실적 문제를 극복하고자 한데서 이념 지향 의식을 드러냈다. 정치ㆍ경제적 상승과 이념 지향적 작자 의식의 작용으로 작품은 교술적 성격을 상당 부분 가지게 되었고, 사실의 전달과 가르침의 제시라는 교술적 효과를 높이려는 과정에서 직설적 표현의 방법을 선택했다.

The 21st century are seeing a large number of performing arts, and one of them, opera is evolving, transforming itself as one of total arts. Besides, the costume in performing art which play a major role in opera's visual impact, characterize figures, set the tone for performance and greatly contribute to the perfection of the stage. Under these circumstances, the study developed designs of stage costumes and built a full-scale production of the Magic Flute, one of three greatest Mozart operas. The opera based on a fiction, is still popular today since it is a fantastic fairy tale introducing moral and ethical lessons. The play's background itself is Egypt. But due to its fairy-take-like storyline, it has been performed focusing on various concepts rather than on costumes prepared through background research. As such, this study conducted research on designs of stage costumes that contains the element of Egypt and also take athleticism and comfort into consideration. The results derived from the study were as follows. First, traditional dresses of ancient Egypt were used as a basis while adding some modem touch in terms of forms or colors, which resulted in a new design. Second, a variety of images were captured using textures and colors that fit the characteristics of attributes of the figures. Third painting techniques were used to help highlight the symbolic image of Egypt-simple, not heavy and extravagant-with fairy-tale-like fantasy.

In this study, find out of recognition of the effect of science, society and ethical aspects on natural disasters and understanding degree of knowledge applying for SSI class aimed at elementary pre-service teachers by developing SSI training program of the 'Earth and Space' field. Also, after SSI class application we examined the change perceptions of elementary pre-service teachers. SSI training program was that elementary pre-service teachers participated in the SSI class of a variety of subjects in the field of 'Earth and Space' and directly joined in the decision-making process and reflectional discussion with colleagues as conducted in this class reflective discussion with the pre-primary teachers pre-service teachers. Elementary pre-service teachers were understanding of the nature of the science and to understand in more depth about the SSI class characteristics. This study, second grade 115 people who was taking 'science and teaching materials' course in B National University of Education at B city participated. In order to apply for SSI class, one semester based on 15 weeks until seven weeks were science and teaching materials and based on the nature of science, after 8 weeks we set the theme of the contents related to the Earth and space and give lesson applied for SSI. During 8 weeks, test subjects 4 classes were taking 50 minutes a week 100 minutes. First time has theoretical lessons in topics related to the 'Earth and space' and on the second week, each classes participate in the decision-making processes respectivly by dicussing and debating on the first week's topic as regarding social and moral aspects of it. We obtained the following results. First, elementary pre-service teachers were acquiring the results of 67% in the knowledge aspects of the 'Earth and space'. This result was determined that most of the elementary pre-service teachers were liberal arts in high school. Second, while participating in the SSI class, elementary pre-service teachers were concretely aware of the nature of SSI and the characteristics of the class. Third, the elementary pre-service teacher are thaught that introduction education courses about 'Earth and space' are needed but most of the students responded that this would require a lot of effort of teachers. This was derived from not familiar class form that did not fulfill in the science teaching methods until now.

세계화시대에 해외투자와 무역, 선교, 여행 등으로 우리국민의 활동영역이 해마다 점점 커지고 있는 상황에서 위험지역에 노출된 한국인들의 인질납치의 가능성과 위협은 매우 높아졌다. 테러조직이나 공해상의 해적집단들이 인질 납치를 자신들의 주장을 효과적으로 전달할 수 있는 좋은 수단으로 인식하면서 세계적으로 인질납치가 갈수록 빈발하고 있다. 서방 사람들을 주로 납치했던 국제 테러단체들이 공격 대상을 확대하여 한국인을 포함시킴에 따라 2004년 김선일 납치살해사건, 2007년 7월19일 아프가니스탄 탈레반 무장 세력의 선교봉사단 피랍사태, 2009년 3월15일 예멘의 한국인 관광객 폭탄테러사건 등의 사태가 발생하였고, 동남아시아, 아프리카 등 공해상의 해적집단에 의해 선박과 함께 한국인의 인질납치 사건(동원호 납치사건, 마부노호 인질납치사건 등) 또한 급증하고 있는 상황이다. 인질납치는 사건의 특성상 무력으로 해결하려다 실패하고 인질이 살해될 경우 심한 도덕적 비난을 감수하여야 하고 해당 국가기관에 엄청난 압력과 영향을 주기 때문에 해당 정부나 기업이 웬만하면 몸값을 지불하고 해결하려 들 수밖에 없다. 이러한 맥락에서 본 연구에서는 해외에서 발생한 한국인의 인질납치사건을 분석하고 종결과정을 통해 나타난 문제점을 도출하여 우리국민의 안전과 국가위기의 상황을 다시 인식하고 그에 따른 해외한국인에 대한 인질납치사건의 예방과 대응 방향을 제시하는 목적에서 전개되었다. 따라서 본 연구에서 도출된 내용을 통해 향후 해외한국인에 대한 인질납치사건에 대한 예방과 기본방향을 제시하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 국가통제력 감소와 제도권 밖의 사건에 대한 구체적이고도 명확한 정책적 대안이 필요하다. 둘째, 국제정치에 대한 이해와 한국의 총체적 외교역량을 재차 점검할 필요가 있다. 셋째, 위험지역에 대한 철저한 정보역량과 위험지역에 무방비 상태의 한국 국민이 노출되는 것을 사전에 적극적으로 방지하는 등 정부의 적극적인 기법연구와 대책이 필요하다. 넷째, 한국인은 대내외적으로 국민 개개인의 안전 불감증 고취와 테러에 대한 경각심을 더욱 높여야 하며, 정부의 시책에 적극 따를 수 있는 국민의 공감대 형성이 절실하다.

본 연구는 서비스주의 경제, 정치행정, 사회교육 시스템을 구현하는 바탕이 되는 법제도 모델 도출을 위해 수행되었다. 지난 역사시대 5천여년간 인류의 법제도 운용 경험을 토대로 미래 인류사회를 지속가능하게 할 새로운 법제도 모델을 도출하였다. 인류 역사에서 시도된 여러 법제도 시스템을 통해 현대사회에 바람직한 법제도시스템의 구조를 설계하였다. 좋은 법제도가 인간의 비이성과 비상식에 의해 얼마나 오용되어 왔고 오용되고 있는지를 경험한 인류사회는 실패를 통해 교훈을 얻어 법제도 패러다임 자체를 바꾸는 노력을 할 필요가 있는 것이다. 현재 법제도시스템의 문제점을 근본적 차원에서 분석하였다. 정의와 공정이 바로 서지 못하는 근본 원인을 분석하고, 새로운 법제도 시스템을 설계하였다. 본 연구는 장기적으로 정의와 공정사회를 구현할 수 있도록 법제도시스템의 기반을 도출하였다. 인류사회가 오래도록 행복할 수 있는 법제도 개선 모델을 제안하였다. 이를 위해 사상적 차원에서 법제도시스템의 근본 역할을 분석하고 현재 법제도의 문제점을 제시하였다. 또한 인간의 본성에 대한 근본 가정상의 문제점을 분석하고, 개선된 가정을 제시하였다. 현재 법제도시스템의 구조적 체계를 분석하고 새로운 구조를 제시하였다. 새로운 구조에 의한 새로운 법제도 운용 방안을 제시하였다. 새로운 법제도시스템은 서비스주의 시스템으로 명명되었다. 모든 대립자들간의 철저한 견제와 균형이 중심이 되는 모델이기 때문이며, 단순 선형 1차원 법제도시스템이 아니라 다차원적 법제도시스템이기 때문이고, 또한 인간의 비이성과 욕망을 뚜렷하게 인정하는 관점이기 때문이다. 새로운 시스템은 법치와 비법치의 대립, 성선설과 성악설의 대립, 법제정 운용자와 피운용자간의 대립, 권력자와 일반시민간의 대립 등을 모두 반영하는 모델이다. 현 법제도에서 새로운 법제도시스템으로 전환하는 구체적인 방안에 대한 후속 연구가 필요하다.
