In this paper, when WLAN repeater of satellite communication package system as a novel wireless disaster communication network connected to LTE D2D mobile terminal, we analyzed radio channel interference from WLAN and WPAN system of adjacent same ISM band using Monte-Carlo method. In this study, WLAN cell radius was determined using Extended Hata Model considering practical environment, and simulated physical protection distance and density in the dense-mode to minimize interference from WLAN, Bluetooth, and ZigBee. Simulation results, WLAN repeater can be operated with 15 WLAN interferer over 130m distance, 23 Bluetooth interferer over 100m distance, and with 62 ZigBee interferer over 83m distance.
Probabilistic information regarding directional extreme wind speeds is important for the precise estimation of the design wind loads on structures. A joint probability distribution model of directional extreme typhoon wind speeds is established using Monte Carlo simulation and empirical copula function to fully consider the correlations of extreme typhoon wind speeds among the different directions. With this model, a procedure for estimating directional extreme wind speeds for given return periods, which ensures that the overall risk is distributed uniformly by direction, is established. Taking 5 typhoon-prone cities in China as examples, the directional extreme typhoon wind speeds for given return periods estimated by the present method are compared with those estimated by the method proposed by Cook and Miller (1999). Two types of directional factors are obtained based on Cook and Miller (1999) and the UK standard's drafting committee (Standard B, 1997), and the directional risks for the given overall risks are discussed. The influences of the extreme wind speed correlations in the different directions and the simulated typhoon wind speed sample sizes on the estimated extreme wind speeds for a given return period are also discussed.
Randomness exists in engineering. Tolerance, assemble-error, environment temperature and wear make the parameters of a mechanical system uncertain. So the behavior or response of the mechanical system is uncertain. In this paper, the uncertain parameters are treated as random variables. So if the probability distribution of a random parameter is known, the simulation of mechanical multibody dynamics can be made by Monte-Carlo method. Thus multibody dynamics simulation results can be obtained in statistics. A new concept called functional reliability is put forward in this paper, which can be defined as the probability of the dynamic parameters(such as position, orientation, velocity, acceleration etc.) of the key parts of a mechanical multibody system belong to their tolerance values. A flexible mechanical arm with random parameters is studied in this paper. The length, width, thickness and density of the flexible arm are treated as random variables and Gaussian distribution is used with given mean and variance. Computer code is developed based on the dynamic model and Monte-Carlo method to simulate the dynamic behavior of the flexible arm. At the same time the end effector's locating reliability is calculated with circular tolerance area. The theory and method presented in this paper are applicable on the dynamics modeling of general multibody systems.
The Multi-Physics (MP) instrument is one of 20 neutron spectrometers planned in the China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS). This paper presents a shielding calculation for the MP instrument using Monte Carlo codes MCNPX and FLUKA. First, the neutrons that escape from the CSNS decoupled water moderator and are delivered to the beam line of the MP instrument are calculated to use as the source term of the shielding calculation. Then, to validate the calculation method based on multiple variance reduction techniques, a cross check between MCNPX and FLUKA codes is performed by comparing the calculation results of the dose rate distribution on a simplified beam line model. Finally, a complete geometry model of the MP instrument is set up, and the primary parameters for the shielding design are obtained according to the calculated dose rate map considering different worst-case scenarios.
Spacer grids play an important role in maintaining the proper form of the fuel assembly structure and ensuring the safety of reactor core design. This study applies the Monte Carlo method to the analysis of the neutronics effects of spacer grids in a typical pressurized water reactor (PWR). The core problem used to analyze the neutronics effects of spacer grids is a modified version of Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology benchmark problem 1B, based on an Advanced Power Reactor 1400 (APR1400) core model. The spacer grids are modeled and added to this test problem in various ways. Then, by running MCNP5 for all cases of spacer grid modeling, some important numerical results, such as the effective multiplication factor, the spatial distributions of neutron flux, and its energy spectrum are obtained. The numerical results of each case of spacer grid modeling are analyzed and compared to assess which type has more advantages in accuracy of numerical results and effectiveness in terms of geometry building. The conclusion is that the most realistic modeling for Monte Carlo calculation is the "volume-preserving" streamlined heterogeneous spacer grids, but the "banded" dissolution spacer grids modeling is a more practical yet accurate model for routine (deterministic) analysis.
With improvements in living conditions, an increasing number of people are choosing to spend their time traveling. Comfortable tour routes are affected by the season, time, and other local factors. In this paper, the influencing factors and principles of scenic spots are analyzed, a model used to find the available routes is built, and a multi-route choice model based on a game theory utilizing a path recommendation weight is developed. A Monte Carlo analysis of a tourist route subjected to fixed access point conditions is applied to account for uncertainties such as the season, start time, end time, stay time, number of scenic spots, destination, and start point. We use the Dijkstra method to obtain multiple path plans and calculate the path evaluation score using the Monte Carlo method. Finally, according to the user preference in the input path, game theory generates path ordering for user choice. The proposed approach achieves a state-of-the-art performance at the pseudo-imperial palace. Compared with other methods, the proposed method can avoid congestion and reduce the time cost.

Geolocation accuracy is one of the important factors in utilizing all weather available SAR satellite imagery. In this study, an error budget analysis was performed on key variables affecting on geolocation accuracy by generating KOMPSAT-5 simulation data. To perform the analysis, a Range-Doppler model was applied as a geometric model of the SAR imagery. The results show that the geolocation errors in satellite position and velocity are linearly related to the biases in the azimuth and range direction. With 0.03cm/s satellite velocity biases, the simulated errors were up to 0.054 pixels and 0.0047 pixels in the azimuth and range direction, and it implies that the geolocation accuracy is sensitive in the azimuth direction. Moreover, while the clock drift causes a geolocation error in the azimuth direction, a signal delay causes in the range direction. Monte-Carlo simulation analysis was performed to analyze the influence of multiple geometric error sources, and the simulated error was up to 3.02 pixels in the azimuth direction.

Bayesian network is a form of probabilistic graphical model. It incorporates human reasoning to deal with sparse data availability and to determine the probabilities of uncertain cases. In this research, bayesian network is adopted to model the problem of construction project cost. General information, time, cost, and material, the four main factors dominating the characteristic of construction costs, are incorporated into the model. This research presents verify a model that were conducted to illustrate the functionality and application of a decision support system for predicting the costs. The Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method is applied to estimate parameter distributions. Furthermore, it is shown that not all the parameters are normally distributed. In addition, cost estimates based on the Gibbs output is performed. It can enhance the decision the decision-making process.
A Markov Chain Monte Carlo method with data augmentation is developed to compute the features of the posterior distribution. For each observed failure epoch, we introduced mixture failure model of Rayleigh and Erlang(2) pattern. This data augmentation approach facilitates specification of the transitional measure in the Markov Chain. Gibbs steps are proposed to perform the Bayesian inference of such models. For model determination, we explored sum of relative error criterion that selects the best model. A numerical example with simulated data set is given.
This paper presents a newly enhanced damage model in Monte Carlo (MC) simulation for the accurate prediction of 3-Dimensional (3D) as-implanted impurity and point defect profiles induced by ion implantation in (100) crystal silicon. An empirical electronic energy loss model for B, BF2, As, P and Si self implant over the wide energy range has been proposed for the ULSI device technology and development. Our model shows very good agreement with the SIMS data over the wide energy range. In the damage accumulation, we considered the self-annealing effects by introducing our proposed non-linear recomvination probability function of each point defect for the computational efficiency. For the damage profiles, we compared the published RBS/channeling data with our results of phosphorus implants. Our damage model shows very reasonable agreement with the experiments for phosphorus implants.
