반고상 성형법에 의한 Mg 합금 박판재의 제조에 관한 연구 (Study on the Fabrication of Mg Alloy Sheet by a Semi-Solid Forming Process)

  • Cast AZ91 and extruded AM50 alloys were isothermally heated as solid/liquid coexistent temperatures, and semi-solid formed into sheets. Mold filling ability of semi-solid slurry with different liquid fractions was investigated in relation to process variables such as injection speed and mold temperature. Relatively uniform distribution of solid particle size and liquid fraction were observed throughout the semi-solid formed sheet. AZ91 alloy sheets were also manufactured by conventional die casting and compared with the semi-solid formed. It was found that the surface was more smooth and the dimensional accuracy was higher in case of the semi-solid formed.

  • During a compression molding process of Unidirectional Fiber Reinforced Plastic Composites, control of filling patterns in mold and distribution of fiber is needed to predict the effects of molding parameters on the flow characteristics. To obtain an excellent product and decide optimum molding conditions, it is important to know the relationship between molding conditions and viscosity. In this study, the anisotropic viscosity of the Unidirectional Fiber Reinforced Plastic Composites is measured by using the parallel plastometer. The model for flow state has been simulated by using the viscosity. The composites is treated as an incompressible New-tonian fluid. The effects of longitudinal/transverse viscosity ration A and slip parameter $\alpha$ on buldging phenomenon and mold filling patterns, are also discussed.

  • In the manufacture and processing of large plastic materials, product quality is tested and verified through several techniques such as injection processing, residual stress through injection molding and shrinkage. With regards to the injection molding process, common problems such as inconsistent density is seen when different points of the product are discovered to have varying thickness levels. Sink marks in product are then evident. This occurs when there is poor molding conditions caused about by poor runner and packaging systems incorporated into the process. We designed the runner system which is possible balanced filling to cavities using CAE program $Moldflow^{TM}$ and then obtained optimal processing conditions by Taguchi's Robust Design technique.

  • In case of Resin Transfer Molding(RTM) process, 'race-track' effects and non-uniform fiber volume fraction may cause undesirable resin flow pattern and thus result in dry spots, which affect the mechanical properties of the finished parts. In this study, a real time RTM control strategy to prevent these unfavorable effects is proposed. The control strategy consists of two 'stages' depending on the extent the resin front has reached. Through numerical simulations and experiments, the validity of the proposed scheme is demonstrated. The results show that the proposed scheme is effective in reducing the void formation during RTM mold filling.

  • A short shot is a molded part that is incomplete because insufficient material was injected into the mold. Remedial actions to control the process conditions can be taken by the injection molding experts based on their knowledge and experience. However, it is very difficult for the non-experts to avoid short shot by finding the proper process conditions such as mold temperature, melt temperature and filling time. In this paper, an intelligent generator of the optimal process conditions based upon fuzzy logic algorithm is proposed so that trial and error can be minimized and the non-experts as well as the experts can also find the optimal process conditions.

몰드형 건식 계기용 변압기 제작을 위한 수지 충진 해석 연구 (Numerical Analysis of Resin Filling Process for a Molded Dry-type Potential Transformer)

  • 철도 차량에 쓰이는 기존 유입식 형태의 계기용 변압기는 장치 내부에 절연유가 충진 된 형태이므로, 차량 운행 중에 내부 압력이 상승할 수 있는 가능성이 있으며. 그에 따른 폭발위험성이 존재한다. 따라서 폭발 방지를 위해 몰드형 건식 계기용 변압기를 개발 중에 있다. 몰드형 건식 계기용 변압기 개발시 주의 하여야 할 점은 몰드를 구성하는 절연용 에폭시 수지를 주입할 때 권선 코일이 감겨진 코어 주변에 기공이 없어야 한다는 것이다. 이는 몰드 내부의 기공에서 스파크 등의 발생 위험이 있기 때문이다. 몰드 내의 기공 발생 요인으로는, 수지 내에 미세 기공(micro void)이 잔재되어 있는 경우와, 성형 중 함침 구조물의 형태에 따라서 대형 기공(macro void)이 발생할 수 있는 점 등이다. 현재 개발 중인 코어는 변압기 성능 향상을 위해 중공(cavity)이 존재하는 형태이며 점도가 높은 에폭시 주입시 중공 내부에 대형 기공이 갇힐 위험이 있다. 따라서 이번 연구에서는, 몰드 내부에 발생할 수 있는 대형 기공의 형성 과정을 이해하고, 기공 형성 요인을 제거할 수 있는 방안으로, 개선된 성형 조건 적용시 기공 형성 결과를 확인하기 위해, 몰드 충진 과정을 VOF기법을 적용한 자유 표면 유동의 수치해석을 통하여 확인하였다.

수지이동 성형공정에서 섬유직조망내의 수지유동에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Resin Flow through Fibrous Preforms in the Resin Transfer Molding Process)

  • 고분자 복합재료 제조공정인 수지이동성형(RTM) 공정은 최근 들어서 고성능 재료를 필요로 하는 항공산업분야에서 관심의 대상이 되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 유한요소/관할부피 기법을 도입한 수치모사를 통해서 수지이동 성형공정에서의 금형충전단계를 해석하였다. 섬유직조망의 투과계수를 정량적으로 측정하고, 또한 수치모사에 이용된 프로그램을 검증하기 위하여 유동가시화 실험을 수행하였다. 실험에 사용된 강화섬유와 수지물질로는 여러 가지 형태의 섬유직조망과 실리콘 기름을 선택하였다. 수치모사와 유동가시화 실험을 병행함으로써 섬유직조망의 구조, 금형의 구조, 금형삽입체가 금형충전단계에서의 수지 유동선단의 형태에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. 모델링에 의해 예측된 유동선단은유동가시화 실험을 통해 관찰된 결과와 잘 일치한 것으로 나타났으나, 금형내 불균일한 섬유부피분율로 인해 섬유조직망의 투과계수가 전 영역에서 일정한 값을 가지지 못하기 때문에 약간의 차이를 보여주었다. 원형의 구조물이 금형내에 삽입되어 있는 경우, 월드라인의 위치를 예측된 유동선단으로부터 정성적으로 추정할 수 있었다.

  • Short shot is a molded part that is incomplete since insufficient material was injected into the mold. Remedial actions to solve short shot can be done by injection molding experts based on their empirical knowledge. Modifying mold and part, changing resin to less viscous one, and adjusting process conditions are general remedies. Experts of injection molding might try to adjust process conditions such as mold temperature, melt temperature, injection time based on their empirical knowledge as the first remedy because adjustment of process conditions is the most economic way in time and cost. However it is difficult to find appropriate process conditions as they are highly coupled and there are so many elements to be considered. In this paper, a fuzzy logic algorithm has been proposed to find an appropriate mold temperature. With the percentage of the insufficient Quantity of an injection molded part, an appropriate mold temperature can be obtained by the fuzzy logic algorithm.
