  • In recent, the demand of high-productivity injection mold increases because of the growth of international packaging market. The increase of productivity leads to the large-sized injection molding machine and peripheral devices. For solving this problem, the stack mold which is based on the existing machine and device is studied in advanced countries actively. In this study, as the preliminary research of stack mold development, the stack mold which has 2 Level ${\times}4$ Cavity is designed and manufactured. Besides, the motion and structural analysis are executed to verify the stability of developed stack mold.

  • In this paper, we have been concerned with development of plastic mold design system by using Auto CAD. We provides a interface and interaction for mold designer who can select optimal mold base and mold parts within Auto CAD environment. We use the paramatric design method and an essential elements group forms. This program made for using Visual Lisp, DCL and Visual Basic that could easily get a database which is built to mold base and parts within Auto CAD. We provide 6 types mold base and 35 parts database for designer. In addition, it will be lined to mold cost and not only 2-D but also 3-D models

  • Recently, the demand of high-productivity injection mold increases since the consumption of packaging grows in the world. Stack mold is composed of more than two molds and it has very high productivity and economic efficiency. In advanced country, stack mold which has $4Level{\times}96cavity$ was developed already but, in occasion of domestic mold industry, there is no study of stack mold. In this study, stack mold which has $2Level{\times}4cavity$ is developed for securing the technique of manufacturing high-productivity mold.

  • In this study, manufacturing of polymer master, PDMS(poly dimethylsiloxane) transfer mold, and mold insert was investigated for laser LIGA(LIthography Calvanoformung Abformtechnik). Initially, ablation by excimer laser radiation was used successfully to make 3-D microstructure of PET. After then, the PDMS transfer mold was replicated using ablated PET. Finally, epoxy resin tooling on replicated PDMS transfer mold was executed for making mold insert. From these facts we can conclude that excimer laser ablation of polymer and fabricaiton of PDMS transfer mold are reasonable tools to substitute for X-ray lithography of LIGA process in microstructuring.

  • In this paper, The experimental study on the crack during press forming of the door latch assembly for a vehicle door is performed. Length to be inserted into the conventional mold upper die punch is 20 mm, wherein the cracks are generated on the product surface and causes a secondary quality problem. In this study, the length to be inserted in the mold upper die punch 0 mm, 10 mm, 20 mm, which was changed to perform the experiment. Through the experiment, the length inserted into the mold can be seen that the upper die punch of the press forming conditions optimized when the 0 mm.

  • Mold-marking industries currently demands to reduce the tooling costs and time in mold making and to improve the productivity and quality in injection molding process. These problems can be easily solved by the laminated injection mold which is made by laser cutting metal sheets and bonding them by the brazing. Comparing with the conventional mold making technology which mainly depends on the machining, the new thchnology enables an arvitary design of cooling circuit whithout any restrictions of geometry. Therefore, it will offer high production tata of the injection molding processes. This paper evaluates the conventional and laminated injection mold making processes with a simple molding geometry, and also the cooling efficienty of the kinds of mold with the filling and cooling analyses. The results show that the laminated injection mold process takes much shorter time in tooling and cooling, and distributes temperatures more uniformly than the conventional one.

  • Mold-Flow 3 Die Stack CSP of Mold array packaging with different Gate types. As high density package option such as 3 or 4 die stacking technologies are developed, the major concerning points of mold related qualities such as incomplete mold, exposed wires and wire sweeping issues are increased because of its narrow space between die top and mold surface and higher wiring density. Full 3D rheokinetic simulation of Mold flow for 3 die stacking structure case was done with the rheological parameters acquired from Slit-Die rheometer and DSC of commercial EMC. The center gate showed severe void but corner gate showed relatively better void performance. But in case of wire sweeping related, the center gate type showed less wire sweeping than corner gate types. From the simulation results, corner gate types showed increased velocity, shear stress and mold pressure near the gate and final filling zone. The experimental Case study and the Mold flow simulation showed good agreement on the mold void and wire sweeping related prediction. Full 3D simulation methodologies with proper rheokinetic material characterization by thermal and rheological instruments enable the prediction of micro-scale mold filling behavior in the multi die stacking and other complicated packaging structures for the future application.

  • There are several ways to mold the complex material, and it is divided to vacuum pack mold, compression mold, and hand lay up for a high molecular substance as a basic material. Moreover, it can be divided to general manufacturing (Single form) and mold manufacturing(Mold form) under normal temperature for Firefly. Firefly was manufactured with hand lay up and general manufacturing that using the foam core, glass fabric, and template without mold. However, mold manufacturing that is producing the surface by semi-sandwich using thin foam core and glass fabric then reinforce the inside with spar and rib is on developing. Mold manufacturing can make easy to production, standardize the quality, and possible to mass producing. In this paper, we present the mold producing process for canard aircraft "Firefly", and the problems and solutions during producing Firefly. Moreover, it complements the defect that the problems caused by master manufacturing error when produce several masters of a large part, and make the manufacturing process to be shortened by the replacement from the supplementary plate to the foam that is installed when producing lay up mold.

  • In this study, the mold technology for manufacturing of porous implant was investigated. Firstly, we considered the concept of insert molding technology with 3D printing of porous inert part. The part on implant was designed in the end region of the implant. And then main implant bodies were manufactured using conventional machining method. The other porous parts were designed and optimized with molding simulation. As the feature size of porous implant was so small that perfect feature of it using 3D printing technology could not be obtained. So, we proposed another scheme for manufacturing of the porous implant in the replace of the former approach. Polymer mold cores with 3D printing technology were considered. The effects of addictive manufacturing process parameters on the properties of mechanical and dimensional accuracy were investigated. Direct 3D printed polymer mold cores were designed and manufactured under the simulation of thermal and molding analysis. It was shown that 3D printed mold core with polymer could be adapted to the injection molding for porous implant.
