  • In this study, the moisture content of the face skin was changed according to the number of skin applications for female college students under 25 years of age. Moisture contents were measured using a skin moisture meter (skin oil and moisture meter, PRC, China). Skin used 500ml of Innisfree's blueberry rebalancing skin as a clinical trial material. Both the forehead, eyes, cheeks, and chin had a higher moisture content after one layer of application than before and after one layer of application, and after ten layers of application, it can be seen that the moisture content is higher. As a result, when applying basic products after washing your face, the first step is to increase the number of skins, and then apply basic products such as lotion and moisturizing cream to increase the moisture content.

  • In this study, the moisture contents of four Hanoks have been monitored and the results were analyzed. Murujeong and Ongojae were built by traditional construction method and material, and Jeeshinjae and Hwakyeongdang were built by modernized construction method and material. Hwakyeongdang was monitored about 2 years and 9 months and the other three Hanoks were monitored about 4 years and 2 months. The surface moisture contents were measured by the non-destructive electronic resistant type moisture content meter. The measured moisture contents were affected by the orientation to the sun, wood type, temperature and relative humidity. The columns on the northern side and lumber showed more moisture contents than those of the southern side and glue-laminated wood. The moisture contents and relative humidity showed proportional relationship. The moisture contents of all four monitored Hanoks existed proper range by and large.

  • This study was conducted to develop a grain moisture meter using microwave free space transmission technique at X-band frequency. The 10.5GHz microwave oscillator using a dielectric resonator was designed and fabricated to transmit electromagnetic wave through standard horn antenna to a sample holder with the wetted Hwasung and Chuchung rough rice(12.00∼26.25%). To detect the output voltage of transmitted wave from receiving horn antenna, the detector was composed of shottkey diode and RF impedance matching circuit. The regression model for measurement of grain moisture content was developed. Its correlation coefficient and standard error of prediction (SEP) were found to be 0.9882 and 0.657 respectively between measure and predicted moisture contents.

  • This study was conducted to measure the moisture content of powdered food using RF impedance spectroscopic method. In frequency range of 1.0 to 30㎒, the impedance such as reactance and resistance of parallel plate type sample holder filled with wheat flour and red-pepper powder of which moisture content range were 5.93∼-17.07%w.b. and 10.87 ∼ 27.36%w.b., respectively, was characterized using by Q-meter (HP4342). The reactance was a better parameter than the resistance in estimating the moisture density defined as product of moisture content and bulk density which was used to eliminate the effect of bulk density on RF spectral data in this study. Multivariate data analyses such as principal component regression, partial least square regression and multiple linear regression were performed to develop one calibration model having moisture density and reactance spectral data as parameters for determination of moisture content of both wheat flour and red-pepper powder. The best regression model was one by the multiple linear regression model. Its performance for unknown data of powdered food was showed that the bias, standard error of prediction and determination coefficient are 0.179% moisture content, 1.679% moisture content and 0.8849, respectively.

  • This study was conducted to measure the moisture content of soil using RF impedance in the range of 1 to 30MHz. Considering the water potential flow in the soils, two types of sensor such as parallel cylinder and perpendicular plate type were fabricated and tested. The capacitance and resistance of sonsors for soil samples having moisture content range of 2 to 27% were measured by Q-meter (HP4342). The higher soil moisture content was and the larger soil bulk density was, the more the capacitance of sensors increased. To eliminate the effect of bulk density on measuring soil moisture content using RF impedance, two kinds of model having the density independent functions such as the ratio of capacitance change to conductance change and weight of water and dry soils respectively were developed and estimated by regression analysis.
