An Optimization Technique of Scene Description for Effective Transmission of Interactive T-DMB Contents (대화형 T-DMB 컨텐츠의 효율적인 전송을 위한 장면기술정보 최적화 기법)

  • The Digital Multimedia Broadcasting(DMB) system is developed to offer high quality audio-visual multimedia contents to the mobile environment. The system adopts MPEG-4 standard for the main video, audio and other media format. It also adopts the MPEG-4 scene description for interactive multimedia contents. The animated and interactive contents can be actualized by BIFS(Binary Format for Scene), the binary format for scene description that refers to the spatio-temporal specifications and behaviors of the individual objects. As more interactive contents are, the scene description is also needed more high bitrate. However, the bandwidth for allocating meta data such as scene description is restrictive in mobile environment. On one hand, the DMB terminal starts demultiplexing content and decodes individual media by its own decoder. After decoding each media, rendering module presents each media stream according to the scene description. Thus the BIFS stream corresponding to the scene description should be decoded and parsed in advance of presenting media data. With these reason, the transmission delay of BIFS stream causes the delay of whole audio-visual scene presentation although the audio or video streams are encoded in very low bitrate. This paper presents the effective optimization technique for adapting BIFS stream into expected MPEG-2 TS bitrate without any bandwidth waste and avoiding the transmission delay of the initial scene description for interactive DMB contents.

  • JPEG(Joint Photographic Expert Group)은 손실 압축 기법을 사용하여 데이터 양을 20:1 이상으로 현저히 줄이면서도 원 영상과 거의 유사한 영상을 복원할 수 있도록 해주기 때문에, 요즘 디지털 카메라 및 휴대폰 등 영상을 저장할 매 대부분 Exif(Exchangeable image file format)로 JPEG 압축형식을 널리 사용하고 있다. 본 논문은 JPEG 베이스라인 모드로 압축되어진 영상의 디코딩 단계에서 필요한 비계층형 헤더를 파싱하는 모듈의 기능을 소프트웨어로 모델링하고 VHDL을 이용하여 회로를 합성하고 동작을 검증하였다. 설계 결과 Xilinx xc3s1000 fg676-4 환경에서 154.488MHz의 동작속도를 나타내었고, JPEG 디코더의 고속 데이터 처리에 적응 가능하다.

  • This paper presents an useful technique for error assessment of CMM with simple gauges such as step gauge. A computer module for measurement path generation is implemented,where the appropriate measurement sequences are generated in terms of DMIS file format for CMMs of CNC mode. After the CNC codes are downloaded into CMMs, the measurement operations are performed, and the error analysis are followed. Positional errors, angular errors are successfully measured with high precision along the 3 axis in relatively short time. The squareness error is also assessed with the step gauge measurement data. The developed system has been practically applied, and showed good performance.

  • Summary: The analysis of human genetic variation is one of the key issues far the understanding of the different drug response among individuals and many programs are developed for this purpose. However, current publicly available programs have so many limitations such as time complexity problem for the analysis of large amount of alleles or SNPs, difficult manipulation for installation, data import, and usage, and low-quality visual output. Here we present workbench for SNP anlaysis, SNPAnalyzer. SNPAnalyzer consists of 3 main modules: 1)Hardy-Weinberg Equilibrium ,2) Haplotype Estimation, and 3) Linkage Disequilibrium. Each module has several different widely-used algorithms for the extensive analysis and can handle large amount of alleles and SNPs with simple format. Analysis results are displayed in user-friendly formats such as table, graph and map. SNPAnalyzer is developed using C and C$^{++}$ and users can easily access through web-interftce.   • This work presents a smart water quality sensor for hydroponic plant growing applications. The proposed sensor can effectively measure pH level and electrical conductivity of the water solution. The micro-controller incorporated in the sensor processes the raw sensor data, and converts it into a readable format. In addition, through the mobile interface realized using a WiFi module, the sensor can send data to the web server database that collects and stores the data. The data stored in the web server can be accessed by a personal computer or smart phone. The prototype sensor has been implemented, and the operations have been verified under an actual hydroponic plant growing application.

  • In this paper, a design of processor IP for TCP/IP protocol stack is described. The processor consists of input and output buffer memory with dual bank structure, 32-bit RISC microprocessor core, DMA unit with on-the-fly checksum capability. To handle the various modes of TCP/IP protocol, hardware and software co-design approach is used rather than the conventional state machine based design. To eliminate delay time due to the data transfer and checksum operation, DAM module which can execute the checksum operation on-the-fly along with data transfer operation is adopted. By programming the on-chip code ROM of RISC processor differently. the designed stack processor can support the packet format conversion operations required in the various TCP/IP protocols.

  • A method for automatic check of omitted design item in structural calculation document of steel box bridges is proposed. A method for automatic check of omitted design item in structural calculation document of steel box bridges is proposed. Information processing for the proposed method is divided into two steps: automatic generation of document structure in XML Schema Definition (XSD) format and extract omitted design items by using the XML Schema matching technique. The automatic omitted element filter is developed on the basis of the proposed method, and the accuracy of the developed module is examined with case study subjected to existing structural calculation document samples.

  • Bluetooth technology of cable replacement and infrastructure access is verified enough to be commercialized as goods. But there are a lot of works to implement ad-hoc Bluetooth radio network. for this, scatternet must be formed. We propose routing layer, packet format and link formation schemes for scatternet. The page procedure of the route request and the route reply page eliminates the procedure of the inquiry and the master-slave role switching. The route discovery time could be lower than 50msec within the distance of 50m. Proposed link formation scheme lets master, slave and bridge establish connection automatically and offers active ad-hoc environment. Devices that adopt Bluetooth module of 10m transmission range can communicate with other devices far away without any intervention of users.

  • Many applications are developed on variety type of mobile terminal with mobile tole-communication improvement. We suggest that we offer more improve multimedia environment on that development. So we design SWF player which supports Macromedia SWF file format. It is application that animation and graphic module are independent of system. In addition to, we implement SWF player on mobile communication environment. for the purpose of it, we adapt AKL concept, which is designed for the consistent interface on heterogeneous operating system environment.

  • It is difficult to access and share design data among heterogeneous CAD systems. Usually, different CAD systems exchange the design data using a neutral format such as IGES or STEP. A prototype CAD system which uses a geometric kernel and a commercial database management system has been implemented. The prototype system used the Open Cascade geometric kernel and the commercial object-oriented database ObjectStore. STEP provides the database schema. The database can be accessed from commercial CAD systems such as SolidWorks or Unigraphics. The data access module from a commercial CAD system is developed with the CAD system's native API, ObjectStore API functions, and ActiveX.
