In this paper, we propose a wireless video transmission scheme, providing medium and long range communication in the 2.4GHz band with beamforming. With this scheme, it is shown that the transmission rate of 32Mbps and received signal power of -77dBm is achieved with 4 antennas of 5dBi and 16dBm transmit power at each antenna connection for the distance of 3.6km. The scheme also provides transmission distance of 20km for 10~12Mbps with the 4 omni-directional antennas of 5dBi.
Three novel hepcidin isoforms were isolated and characterized from the perciform fish species Oplegnathus fasciatus. These hepcidin isoforms (designated rbhepc5, rbhepc6 and rbhepc7) were found to share a conserved, tripartite gene structure and a considerable sequence homology one another. A comparison of their mature peptide sequences with those of other perciform hepcidin orthologs indicated that these three hepcidin isoforms as well as four other isoforms previously identified in this species, appear to belong to the HAMP2 group of hepcidin genes. Analysis of the 5'-upstream sequences showed that the proximal non-coding regions of rbhepc5~7 do not possess canonical TATA signals; instead, they harbor several binding motifs for transcription factors involved in immune modulation. Reverse transcriptase-PCR analysis demonstrated that the rbhepc5~7 are expressed predominantly in the liver, and that the transcription of rbhepc5~7 is rapidly induced in the liver, but not in other tissues, by experimental challenge with any of three different bacterial species. However, transcription of rbhepc6 appeared to be negligible under both basal and stimulated conditions, as judged by the redundancy count of randomly chosen reverse transcriptase-PCR clones.

To cope with channel variation, wireless networks such as IEEE 802.11 WLAN provide multiple transmission rates by employing different channel modulation and coding schemes. However, the coexistence of different transmission rates degrades the total system performance of the network. In order to eliminate this performance abnormality and improve protocol capacity, we propose a new Packet transmission algorithm, the RAT(Rate-Adapted Transmission) scheme. The RAT scheme distributes the wireless channel fairly based on the channel occupancy time. Moreover, it efficiently transmits packets even in a single station using rate-based queue management. Therefore, the RAT scheme obtains not only the inter-rate contention gain among stations but also the intra-rate contention gain among connections in a single station.

In this paper, we develop a method that derive the average sector throughput of HSDPA system. This proposed method reflects the effects of AMC, scheduling and multi-code transmission, and is performed by simple calculation procedures such as link budget analysis. Link budget table is used to estimate a cell coverage in general. We modify the link budget table in order to calculate C/I of the user according to the location of the user in CDMA packet system employing AMC. Furthermore, we utilize the proposed method to analyze the effects of scheduling and multi-code transmission.
We investigate the connectivity of fading wireless ad-hoc networks with a pair of novel connectivity metrics. Our first metric looks at the problem of connectivity relying on the outage capacity of MIMO channels. Our second metric relies on a probabilistic treatment of the symbol error rates for such channels. We relate both capacity and symbol error rates to the characteristics of the underlying communication system such as antenna configuration, modulation, coding, and signal strength measured in terms of signal-to-interference-noise-ratio. For each metric of connectivity, we also provide a simplified treatment in the case of ergodic fading channels. In each case, we assume a pair of nodes are connected if their bi-directional measure of connectivity is better than a given threshold. Our analysis relies on the central limit theorem to approximate the distribution of the combined undesired signal affecting each link of an ad-hoc network as Gaussian. Supported by our simulation results, our analysis shows that (1) a measure of connectivity purely based on signal strength is not capable of accurately capturing the connectivity phenomenon, and (2) employing multiple antenna mobile nodes improves the connectivity of fading ad-hoc networks.

In this paper we propose a system where we divide the group with 2 symbols. The two added symbols are separated by multiplexing and later added using the DE-multiplexing technique. In our proposed system a simple Partial Interference Cancelation (PIC) group decoding scheme is used for Double-ABBA(D-ABBA) Quasi-Orthogonal Space Time Code, which reduces the decoding complexity for the higher order Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) space time block coding. Finally we compare the proposed scheme performance using the different modulation schemes.
This paper describes the design and implementation for spread spectrum FTS encoder and decoder. The FTS command format is defined by 64 bit encrypted packet that contains all required information relayed between the ground and the vehicle. Encryption is accomplished using the Tripple-DES encryption algorithm in block encryption form. The proposed FTS encoder and decoder is using the Convolution Encoding and Viterbi Decoding for forward error correction. The Spread Spectrum Modulation is done using a PN code, which is 256 bit gold code. The simulation result shows that the designed FTS decoder is compatible with the designed FTS encoder.

Transition jitter noise is one of major sources of detection errors in high density recording channels. Implementation complexity of the optimal detector for such channels is high due to the data dependency and correlated nature of the jitter noise. In this paper, two types of hardware efficient sub-optimal detectors are derived by modifying branch metric of Viterbi algorithm and applied to partial response (PR) channels combined with run length limited modulation coding. The additional complexity over the conventional Viterbi algorithm to incorporate the modified branch metric is either a multiplication or an addition for each branch metric in the Viterbi trellis.

In this paper, we propose a compressed quantized channel state information (CQCSI) feedback scheme for multi-carrier mobile communication systems. The proposed CQCSI figures out the contiguous subsequences of equal QCSI's as separate types of runs across the subcarriers, and then encodes the types of runs using a truncated Huffman coding algorithm. Computer simulation shows that the proposed algorithm can reduce the QCSI feedback up to one tenth of the uncompressed, while providing a comparable performance with the conventional QCSI feedback schemes. To cope with special cases when the frequency selective fading is very high, we also propose a restricted CQCSI feedback scheme. The restricted CQCSI feedback has been proved under vehicular B channel model.
