Electronic Speckle Pattern Interferometry(ESPI) has been used to measure surface deformations of engineering components and materials in industrial areas. ESPI, a non-contact and non-destructive technique, is capable of providing full-field results with high spatial resolution and high speed. One of the important application using electronic speckle pattern interferometry is electronic speckle contouring of a diffused object for 3-D shape analysis and topography measurement. Generally the electronic speckle contouring is suitable for providing measurement range from millimeters to several centimeters. In this study, we introduce the contouring method by modified dual-beam speckle pattern interferometer and the shift of the two illumination beams through optical fiber in order to obtain the contour fringe patterns. We also describe formation process of depth contour fringes and grid contour fringes by shifting direction of the two illumination beams. Before the experiments, we performed the geometric analysis for dual-beam-shifted ESPI contouring, and then, the electronic speckle contouring experiment with various specimens. For quantitative analysis of the contour fringes, we used 4-frame phase shifting method with PZT Finally, good agreement between the geometric analysis and experimetal results is obtained.

We propose a new approach to reconstruct the surface shape of an object from a shaded image. We use genetic algorithm instead of gradient descent algorithm which is apt to take to local minima and also proposes genetic representation and suitable genetic operators for manipulating 2-D image. And for more effective execution, we suggest hierarchical process to reconstruct minutely the surface of an object after coarse and global reconstruction. A modified Lambertian illumination model including the distance factor was herein adopted to get more reasonable result and an experiment was performed with synthesized and real images to demonstrate the devised method, of which results show the usefulness of our method.

In this paper we propose a new method that can be estimation the spectral power distribution of the light source from three-band images. the light source is estimated by dividing the reflected spectral power distribution of the maximum achromatic region(L(λ)) by the corresponding surface reflectance(Ο(λ)). In order to obtain reflected spectral power distribution of the maximum achromatic region from three-bend images, a modified gray world assumption algorithm is adapted. And the maximum surface reflectance is estimated using the principal component analysis method along with achromatic population. The achromatic population is created from a set of given Munsell color chips whose chroma vector is less than threshold. Cumulative contribution ratio of principal components from the first to the third for classified achromatic population was about 99.75%. The reconstruction of illumination spectral power distribution by using achromatic population and three-band digital images captured under various light source was examined, and evaluated by RMSE between the original and reconstructed illumination spectral power distribution. Organic/inorganic ultraviolet photodetector was fabricated using thermal evaporation technique. Organic/inorganic heterojunction based on thermally evaporated copper (II) acetylacetonate thin film of thickness 200 nm deposited on an n-type silicon substrate is introduced. I-V characteristics of the fabricated heterojunction were investigated under UV illumination of intensity $65mW/cm^2$. The diode parameters such as ideality factor, n, barrier height, ${\Phi}_B$, and reverse saturation current, $I_s$, were determined using thermionic emission theory. The series resistance of the fabricated diode was determined using modified Nord's method. The estimated values of series resistance and barrier height of the diode were about $0.33K{\Omega}$ and 0.72 eV, respectively. The fabricated photodetector exhibited a responsivity and specific detectivity about 9 mA/W and $4.6{\times}10^9$ Jones, respectively. The response behavior of the fabricated photodetector was analyzed through ON-OFF switching behavior. The estimated values of rise and fall time of the present architecture under UV illumination were about 199 ms and 154 ms, respectively. Finally, enhancing the photoresponsivity of the fabricated photodetector, post-deposition plasma treatment process was employed. A remarkable modification of the device performance was noticed as a result of plasma treatment. These modifications are representative in a decrease of series resistance and an increase of photoresponsivity and specific detectivity. The process of plasma treatment achieved an increment of external quantum efficiency from 5.53% to 8.34% at -3.5 V under UV illumination.

In this paper, we address the tracking problem caused by camera motion and rolling shutter effects associated with CMOS sensors in consumer handheld cameras, such as mobile cameras, digital cameras, and digital camcorders. A modified particle filtering method is proposed for simultaneously tracking objects and compensating for the effects of camera motion. The proposed method uses an elastic registration algorithm (ER) that considers the global affine motion as well as the brightness and contrast between images, assuming that camera motion results in an affine transform of the image between two successive frames. By assuming that the camera motion is modeled globally by an affine transform, only the global affine model instead of the local model was considered. Only the brightness parameter was used in intensity variation. The contrast parameters used in the original ER algorithm were ignored because the change in illumination is small enough between temporally adjacent frames. The proposed particle filtering consists of the following four steps: (i) prediction step, (ii) compensating prediction state error based on camera motion estimation, (iii) update step and (iv) re-sampling step. A larger number of particles are needed when camera motion generates a prediction state error of an object at the prediction step. The proposed method robustly tracks the object of interest by compensating for the prediction state error using the affine motion model estimated from ER. Experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms the conventional particle filter, and can track moving objects robustly in consumer handheld imaging devices.
Hybrid robust image processing algorithm to extract visual features of melon during the cultivation was developed based on a wireless tele-operative interface. Features of a melon such as size and shape including position were crucial to successful task automation and future development of cultivation data base. An algorithm was developed based on the concept of hybrid decision-making which shares a task between the computer and the operator utilizing man-computer interactive interface. A hybrid decision-making system was composed of three modules such as wireless image transmission, task specification and identification, and man-computer interface modules. Computing burden and the instability of the image processing results caused by the variation of illumination and the complexity of the environment caused by the irregular stem and shapes of leaves and shades were overcome using the proposed algorithm. With utilizing operator's teaching via LCD touch screen of the display monitor, the complexity and instability of the melon identification process has been avoided. Hough transform was modified for the image obtained from the locally specified window to extract the geometric shape and position of the melon. It took less than 200 milliseconds processing time.

Although the face almost always has an axisymmetric structure, it is generally not symmetrical image for the face image. However, the mirror image of the face image can reflect possible variation of the poses and illumination opposite to that of the original face image. A robust minimum squared error classification (RMSEC) algorithm is proposed in this paper. Concretely speaking, the original training samples and the mirror images of the original samples are taken to form a new training set, and the generated training set is used to perform the modified minimum sqreared error classification(MMSEC) algorithm. The extensive experiments show that the accuracy rate of the proposed RMSEC is greatly increased, and the the proposed RMSEC is not sensitive to the variations of the parameters.

This paper presents an adaptive image enhancement method using the spatial frequency property in the DCT(discrete cosine transform) compressed domain. The dc coefficients, the illumination components of image, are adjusted to compress the dynamic range of image, and the ac coefficients are modified to enhance the contrast by using the human visual system(HVS) and the spatial frequency property. The ac coefficients are separated into vertical direction, horizontal direction, and mixed spatial frequency components, and adaptively modified to minimize the block artifacts that possibly occur in the image enhancement. The proposed method using dynamic range compression and adaptive contrast enhancement shows the advanced performance without the block artifact compared with existing method.

LED-ID (Light Emitting Diode - Identification) is one of the key technologies for identification, data transmission, and illumination simultaneously. This is the new paradigm in the identification technology environment. There are many issues are still now challenging to achieve high performance in LED-ID system. Collision issue is one of them. Actually this is the most significant issue in all identification system. LED-ID system also suffers from collision problem. In our system, collision occurs when two or more readers transmit data to tag at the same time or vice versa. There are many anti-collision protocols to resolve this problem; such as: Slotted ALOHA, Basic Frame Slotted ALOHA, Query Tree, Tree Splitting, and Q-Algorithm etc. In this paper, we propose modified Q-Algorithm to resolve collision at tag. The proposed protocol is based on Q-Algorithm and used the information of arrived readers to a tag from neighbor. The information includes transmitting slot number of readers and the number of readers that can be arrived in next slot. Our proposed protocol can reduce the numbers of collision slot and the successful time to identify all readers. In this paper our simulation and theoretical results are presented.
In this paper, the design for the shaped offset cassegrain antenna system combined with corrugated feed horn is presented. First, spherical-mode wave theory is applied to the corrugated conical horn and its radiation patterns are investigated. Using the radiation patterns, design data of the corrugated conical horn are obtained by efficiency investigation of horn antenna. When the investigation is completed, the flare angle and length of the corrugated conical horn is determined. Next, the main and sub-reflector is designed using Snellis law and the conservation principle of energy. Then the uniform direction and energy density of the traveling wave at the aperture of the main-reflector is obtained. The maximum size of the main-reflector is determined by investigation of the illumination and spillover efficiency. Finally, the curvature of the main-reflector is modified to satisfy the condition of the uniform phase. From the calculated efficiencies, the designed site of the main-reflector and sub-reflector, system gain of the shaped offset cassegrain antenna has been obtained 40.5dB in Ka-band frequency. It has better characteristics than the result of SABOR with 39dB gain.
