The types of China Ancientry Architecture are rich and colorful. Among all these architectures, the Traditional Residence Architecture have the closest relationship with the mass's life. Traditional Residence Architecture reflected the connotation of the culture, philosophy ideology, especially the relationship between dwelling house and the nature, which can't be ignored by our modern people as well as the modern design. Beijing Sahap-won residence architecture is one of the apotheosis of China Traditional Residence Architecture, it'svery suitable for family's habitation. The ideal housing in the 21st century means that it can provide people with the balanced life between nature and human life, while is possible through the systematic harmony of nature, environment, and human. As our society increasingly pays attention to the importance of environment, environment friendly houses and ecological dwellings are being built. If we add our own cultural environment attribute and historical identity to the ecological housing, we can create the most unique Korean ecological architecture. This study examines ecological interior expression methods from the traditional housing architecture which started out of nature, in order to find out an ecological approach in the interior design of the dwelling space. Based upon this examination, it mainly focuses on how these methods can be applied to a modern housing architecture. From an ecological perspective, the traditional house interior has two distinct characteristics; nature friendly and human friendly, because it considered nature and human harmoniously. The interior of the traditional housing can be divided into three types; nature friendly, health friendly, and human friendly. Finally, this study investigates the ecological value of the three types and application of them to modern housing. It will help to find out the harmonious way of building a house harmonizing both nature and human. Especially, considering that the nature is being destructed and the health of human is deteriorating due to the destruction of the nature, this study will show a feasible alternative to build the most Korean style of environmental architecture.
This article aimed at understanding the characteristics of Swedish furniture design since 1980s in the reference to the major paradigm changes in the contemporary design field. For this, the authors examined the theoretical background of modern and post-modern design paradigms to identify today's design tendencies. And we used this frame in the analysis of the latest examples of Swedish furniture design. The main characteristics of Swedish furniture design since 1980s included 'furniture as art object', 'the succession of the Swedish Modern (neo-modernism)', and 'conscious design for sustainable development'. These could be viewed as the consequences of the choices that the Swedish furniture industry and designers made during the last decade, that was to take plurality and contradiction as the accompanying values of the traditional Swedish modern design.
This Study is to analize the transfiguration of the domestic architecture in the process of modernization. Thirty two houses which were located in Taegu province and constructed during the period from 1886 to 1945, were surveyed and analized about the characteristic and their transfiguration. The modern domestic architecture of Taegu province had been constructed greatly by the missonaries and Japanes. The history of development of modern houses in Teagu province can be devided into three period in accordance with the economic policy, housing style and the method of construction. The first period (1886-1910) was the beginning of the modern house. Most of the mission houses of that period were made with brick structure of korean-western style or colonial style. In the second period (1911-1926), colonial, Japanese-western, Japanese housing style were co-exited in Teagu province. During the third period (1927-1945) new method of construction using reinforced concrete and mortar was introduced, therefore the houses become row house (a two or three-family house) and much simpler.
This study was conducted to identify the effects of industrialization upon the traditional house and dwelling space and their socio-cultural parameters. By now, in architecture the industrialization has been studied in relation to the formation of modern architecture and the traditional hose or hosing, as though it were a thing already concluded. for this reason, the relationship between industrialization and traditional housing has not been surveyed sufficiently. In reality, the traditional house, however, survives in spite of industrialization, but certainly modified. To examine the effects of industrialization on the traditional house and housing, we must deepen the concepts of both and sow how they are entangled in the socio-cultural context and that they are internal to each other. The parameters does not act independently on the organization of the dwelling space, but in a system formed by them. After all, the combined action of the parameters effected by industrialization entails the de-structuration of the traditional arrangement in traditional house, and tends toward, although it does not realize completely, the re-structuration for the arrangement of intimacy embodied in modern house.
This study aims to identify the propensity to consume and housing characteristics according to life cycle as the main independent variable. It also tries to understand the consumption power and housing style of each cycle and analyze whether there are differences between each life cycle, ultimately aiming to match the propensity to consume and housing style with each cycle. For empirical analysis, on and off-line surveys of 488 people were collected and analyzed by cross analysis, factor analysis and analysis of variance. The prime research findings are as follows: First of all, factor analysis on propensity to consume showed four main sub-factors as rational consumption, conspicuous consumption, trend consumption, and status consumption. Secondly, current and preferred housing styles ranked from modern, natural, casual, classic and romantic, which proved that people are currently housed in preferred housing styles. Thirdly, in case of housing-related characteristics of life cycles, the size of the house increased as the levels progressed, and then decreased at level 6 when the children grew into adulthood. The majority of the population was paying a monthly rent, a few were leasing, and a very few owned their housing. 58% were living in apartments, but in levels 1-2, more were living in row houses and high-rise residential buildings, while in level 6 it was detached houses. Fourthly, the propensity to consume according to life cycle tended to shift from conspicuous and trend-based consumption to rational consumption as the cycles progressed. Fifthly, the preferred housing styles were modern and natural styles, regardless of life cycle. These study results can be applied to product development and marketing activities based on their accurate analysis of customers' needs, which can thus bring further customer satisfaction.
In this study, we analyzed the process of the housing reflecting the self, based on the qualitative data that people describe their thoughts about their housing in social media 'online-housewarming'. Especially, based on the precedent study that modern self is established on continuous selection behavior, we focused on the selection behavior of the self and the role of the housing that affected it through the narrative. Each narrative component corresponds to the self-establishment process of modern people, identified through precedent study. We can confirm the existing internal criteria changing into new internal criteria through accumulation, interaction and nonverbal communication of selection by housing. Housing has been involved in the selection behavior of self throughout the narrative. From this, it can be seen that the thought of the self and housing are identified in three ways. In 'Online-Housewarming', (1) Housing equates with the self, in the sense that housing is a physical entity in which one's own choices are accumulated (2) People perceive the change of choice caused by the realistic constraints of housing as their interaction with housing. (3) People relate the opinions of others about housing with the opinions about their own self. In contemporary society, house reforming process is a process of mediating the self and the external world based on the selection behavior and affects the establishment of self.
