This study on "Wenbingtiaobian" covers identifying pattern of prescription, understanding system of multiple syndrome differentiations, characteristics of treatment and medicinal substances. The source books are "Korean translation of Wenbingtiaobian", "Modern Shanghanlun", "Jinkuiyaolueyishi", "Chinese Medicine Formulas". "Wenbingtiaobian" has system of multiple patterns including three energizer syndrome differentiation, classification of disease, six meridian syndrome differentiation and wei-qi-ying-xue syndrome differentiation. That describes cause, location, nature, power and transmutation of disease. Wei-qi-ying-xue pattern is meaningful to warm-heat disease and three energizer pattern is relevant to dampness-heat disease. The warm disease shows mostly yang brightness bowel syndrome and patterns of three yin viscera. In aspect of the heat disease, qi aspect pattern makes up the largest number of syndrome differentiation and have sometimes with bowel excess or fluid deficiency. And treatment for wei aspect pattern is primarily 'outthrust the pathogen with pungent-cool'. Deficiency cold pattern and cold pattern with dampness occupy most of cold patterns. And many dampness patterns are dampness-heat pattern in middle energizer and 'inhibited lung qi transforming' is major mechanism. Patterns with fluid deficiency in qi aspect syndrome appear mostly in upper or middle energizer and in xue aspect syndrome appear mostly in lower energizer and they form 20% of all syndrome differentiations. The treatment of clearing heat uses pungent-cool(cold) for upper energizer, sweet-cold for middle energizer, sweet(salty)-cold for lower energizer. The treatment of tonifying yin uses mostly salty-cold for middle or lower energizer. The treatment of outthrusting pathogen is applied to all the wei-qi-ying-xue aspect combined with other treatments by using pungent-cool(cold) and light herbs. Understanding diseases in the respect of syndrome differentiation can enhance understanding of modern diseases from a perspective of Korean Traditional Medicinal(KTM) and can make clinical application of KTM treatments easy. Data from this study are expected to be basic for standardization and systemization of KTM.
Objectives: This study aimed to develop a standard understanding of neuropsychiatric symptoms and signs of Disease Pattern Identification/syndrome in Korean Medicine. Methods: We investigated various published articles, and the proposals are based on a comparative analysis between Korean medicine literature and DSM5, ICD-10. To improve our understanding, we engaged in a consultation through discussions with the advisory committee. Results: We describe the physical and neuropsychiatric symptoms in a modern sense of the major disease Pattern in Korean Medicine. We also proposed a profound understanding of the neuropsychiatric symptoms and signs of Disease Pattern Identification/syndrome in Korean Medicine. Conclusions: Compared with DSM5, ICD-10, the system of neuropsychiatric diagnosis in Korean medicine, could be profoundly organized into a system in a modern sense. It would be helpful to apply this understanding to clinical practices. There are several points of consideration in this study. The system of neuropsychiatric diagnosis in Korean medicine cannot be a perfect match for DSM5 or ICD-10. In addition, we could not reach a complete consensus on the disease pattern. Although there are some limitations to this study, it is meaningful to have an understanding of the neuropsychiatric symptoms and signs in Korean medicine through discussions with the advisory committee. This trial is expected to be applicable to related research in the future.
Today the interest about maintenance and improvement of health has been increasing more and more. Realizing the necessity of study about exercise remedy, by consideration of the exercise remedy in the Occident and the Orient, I come to conculsions as follows : First, both Modern Exercise therapy and Yangsaeng-Doyin therapy(養生導引法) are preserve methods founded on breathing principle and are used efficiently in disease treatment and health maintenance. Second, compared with Yangsaeng-Doyin therapy(養生導引法), Modern Exercise therapy concentrates on physical training which emphasize momentum, Yangsaeng-Doyin therapy(養生導引法), however, focuses on discipline at once in mind and body based on the care of moral culture. Third, Modern Exercise therapy has been develope in view of Cure medicine, but Yangsaeng-Doyin therapy(養生導引法) to Psychosomatic preserving therapy including preserving health, treating a diseade and longevity in the light of comprehensive Priventive medicine. Fourth, while Modern Exercise therapy in the field of Clinical medicine is organized systematically and practically, Yangsaeng-Doyin therapy(養生導引法) is not sufficient to practical study in real clinic despite the abundance of content.
1. Ounyukki(五運六氣) theory was first developed from observation of astronomical phenomena. Natural phenomena were explained and incorporated into the concepts of Yukki(六氣), and Ohaeng(五行, the concept that all matter in the world are comprised of five fundamental elements), during Chon-guk(戰國) and Han(漢) periods. In that period. Kanji(干支, the method to present time with ten and twelve different kinds of symbol's combinations) was used to record Ounyukki(五運六氣). Theoretical study of Un-gi(運氣, the abbreviation of Ounyukki) was almost completed in Un-gichilpyon(運氣七篇) of Naekyong(內經). Un-gi(運氣) theory was further studied and considered to be very important socially, as well as medically, in Tang(唐), Song(宋), Kum(金), and Won(元) periods. Hagan(河間) published various studies based on Un-gi(運氣) theory in Kum won(金元) periods. 2. Hagan(河間) realized the limitation of a remedy method, of Sanghan(傷寒) theory. Therefore, he made an assumption that the prevalence of diseases in his period are closely related to Hwayol(火熱, a fire and a super-heat; two things out of Yukki(六氣)). His new theory was a result of the study on Kyongjon(經典, bibles of the oriental medicine) and the phenomena of nature. 3. Hagan(河間) used a combination of two basic theories of Pimuripsang(比物立象) and Hanhaesungjeron(亢害承制論) to make understood Hwayol(火熱) theory, Pimuripsang(比物立象) theory explains a method to appreciate the essence of things by comparing Sang(象, an expression of how something appears on the outside) and then making another Sang(象) from the comparison. Hanhaesungjeron(亢害承制論) is a theory to emphasize the importance of a balance of Yukki(六氣). It is that, if one of the elements is exceeded, other thing in the other five elements dominate the exceeded thing to control it for the balance between Yukki(六氣). In addition, he articulated P'yobon(標本. inside and outside of a thing) theory to differentiate the disease symptoms. These theories will help to distinguish real and fake symptoms of diseases, on which Hagan(河間) emphasized its importance. 4. Hagan(河間) published a new theory to explain Ounyukki(五運六氣) theory based on the observation of the nature and the experience from medical practice. And he added Chobyonggi(燥病機, course and rule causing disease in dry conditions) to Pyonggishipkujo(病機十九條, nineteen course and rule causing disease), it strengthened Pyonggi(病機, course and rule causing disease) theories. Moreover. he utilized Un-gi (運氣) theory in a real life situation by applying Un-giron(運氣論) to diagnosis like Maekchin(脈診, a method to diagnose by taking the pulse) and to prescription. 5. Modern society is an era in which it is hard to appreciate the principles of the changes due to the various unusual weather. Therefore, it is necessary to make a new paradigm using Un-gi(運氣) theory, like Hagan(河間) did in Kumwon(金元) period. 6. Unusual weather changes and the geriatric diseases such as cancer and diabetes, may have Sang(象) of Hwayol(火熱) theory at the other side. These diseases have been and will create more serious problems in modern society. As a method to solve these problems. it seems to be very important to understand and apply Hagan's(河間) Hawyol(火熱) theory to modern society.

Objects : In the present study, we translated Mingyi-leian into modern Korean, and studied the medical records about the disease induced by emotional problem and the psychotherapy in Mingyi-leian for find the possibility of application that established researches did not studied. Methods : It was 197 cases that related to psychotherapy and emotional problem called Seven Passions(七情). We studied these records by statistical methods. Results : The anger(怒) was the most numerous cause into classified to Seven Passions in 197 cases. In the order of frequency of emotional causes, it was worry(憂), surprise(驚), lust(思), fear(恐), sorrow(悲), joy(喜) that classified into Seven Passions. The most disease induced by emotional problem was internal trauma(內傷), 11 cases. There was very numerous diseases induced by emotional problem except internal trauma. In ratio of the sexes, it was 104 cases in female and 93 cases in male from 197 cases. But the number of all case records about male were more than about female in Mingyi-leian, so female ratio was two times to male ratio. Specially, the percentage of cases about disease due to anger high in female. In ratio of the Seven Passions, the anger was most frequent cause of diseases due to emotional problem in 197 cases, and mostly caused bleeder's diseases. In oral medical treatments, various prescriptions were used. On the whole, the ratio of prescriptions about venting grudges(解鬱) records are mostly application of compatibility and incompatibility with the and warmly strengthening(溫補) were high. Psychotherapeutic medical Five Elements(五行) relation. But it also has psychotherapeutic medical record made by detailed and correct analysis can equal to modern psychotherapy, it is worth refer to clinic. Conclusions : Mingyi-leian and its medical records about the disease induced by emotional problem and the psychotherapeutic records have sufficient meaning to not only modern neuropsychiatric physicians but also physicians of all medical fields to treat disease of this kind.

Control and prevention of foot and mouth disease (FMD) by vaccination remains unsatisfactory in endemic countries. Indeed, consistent and new FMD epidemics in previously disease-free countries have precipitated the need for a worldwide control strategy. Outbreaks in vaccinated animals require that a new and safe vaccine be developed against foot and mouth virus (FMDV). FMDV can be eradicated worldwide based on previous scientific information about its spread using existing and modern control strategies.
Red ginseng (RG) is widely used as a herbal medicine. As the human lifespan has increased, numerous diseases have developed, and RG has also been used to treat various diseases. Neurodegenerative diseases are major problems that modern people face through their lives. Neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis are featured by progressive nerve system damage. Recently, neuroinflammation has emerged as a degenerative factor and is an immune response in which cytokines with nerve cells that constitute the nervous system. RG, a natural herbal medicine with fewer side effects than chemically synthesized drugs, is currently in the spotlight. Therefore, we reviewed studies reporting the roles of RG in treating neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases and found that RG might help alleviate neurodegenerative diseases by regulating neuroinflammation.
Objectives : This paper summarizes results from review of 36 cases and medical records extracted from Yeoksimanpil, involving treatment of exogenous disease in the last Joseon dynasty, and considers significance of treatment protocols. Methods : About 130 medical records from Yeoksimanpil related to exogenous disease were reviewed, and 36 cases were extracted for closer investigation. The author examined the characteristics of exogenous diseases treated in Yeoksimanpil during the Joseon dynasty, employing Yi Suki's theory about exogenous febrile disease, and analyzed the theory from the viewpoint of epidemic febrile disease (溫病學). Results : The majority of exogenous diseases recorded in Yeoksimanpil include Sanghan (傷寒); Seo (暑); Ryeohwan (厲患); and Hongjin (紅疹). Sanghan was found to be prevalent among the exogenous diseases, but diseases caused by warmth and epidemic are recognized separately from Sanghan. Yi Suki's theory about exogenous febrile disease is similar to the basic theory of modern epidemic febrile disease, although his theory was developed independently during the last Joseon dynasty. Conclusions : Although some exogenous diseases in Yeoksimanpil were recognized separately, Yi Suki did not specify each feature nor did he focus on each symptom. Instead, the author's research suggests that Yi Suki was able to identify and treat a variety of various exogenous diseases due to his accumulation of medical knowledge and skill.
Objectives On the point of modern preventive medicine, Sasang Constitutional Meidicine(SCM) has the thoughts of preventive medicine. Modern preventive medicine has the three dimensional prevention; primary, secondary and tertiary prevention. The preventive thoughts of SCM concerning three dimensional prevention have been investigated in this article. Method Materials and references were collected about the prevention of SCM. Lee Jema's books such as Donguisusebowon, Gyeokchigo and Donguisusebowon Chobonguen were included. Result and Conclusions As the primary prevention of SCM, Regimen according to ages, explanation according to health index as Myeongmaeksilsu(命脈實數), moderation of four ruinous causes such as intoxication, seduction, opulence and authority, adequate social life and control of 4 kinds of emotions(sorrow, anger, joy and pleasure) are included. As the secondary prevention of SCM, explanation according to disease index, fragile Organs and frequently acquired diseases according to constitutions are included. As the tertiary prevention of SCM, rehabilitation for the stroke patients according to constitutions is included. In conclusion, SCM has all of 3 dimensional prevention methods although that might be applied with modern considerate modification.

1. (시행일) 이 약관은 2016년 9월 5일부터 적용되며, 종전 약관은 본 약관으로 대체되며, 개정된 약관의 적용일 이전 가입자도 개정된 약관의 적용을 받습니다.
