The Study of the Relationship between Clothes and Brooch in Fashion Collection (패션컬렉션에 나타난 의복과 브로치와의 관계 연구)

  • Modern people gratify their self-satisfaction to express their distinctive image and symbolic significance through various and sensible direction. The image that is formed by each factor of coordination and harmony of aesthetic characteristic has emphasized its importance in modern society. And also, the item which is conflated by the wearer's feeling figures the image and it takes a role that lifts the degree of fashion's completion. For the rapid change of fashion trend in modern society, the role of Jewelry has been emphasized. Even though the shape of Jewelry is tiny, but it has risen as one of the fashion items which could be used for various application. Especially, the Brooches are mainly put on her's top where they hold someone's eyes, so it could be regard as Artwork which assists for wearer's distinctive style and lingering impression. Overviews of Researches Trend in Brooch, they have been concerned about Brooch Design, Internal state of the Accessory in clothes and Accessory Design which is expressed in Fashion. But, the study on the relations between Clothes and Brooch is insufficient. So, in this paper, first of all we arrange the terms according to characteristic of Brooch, and then study empirically for the relations between Clothes and Shape of Brooch, Colors of Brooch, Materials of Brooch in Fashion Collection in order to study for the new physical beauty that is expressed by interaction between Clothes and Brooch.

  • Chinese traditional wedding dress is a unique cultural symbol. It had a deep historical background as it went through different productions in each dynasty. However, with the introduction of Western ideas, an increasing number of people are wearing Western-style wedding dresses when they are getting married. Recently, traditional Chinese culture has been increasingly valued. Demand for traditional Chinese wedding dresses among modern Chinese people is increasing. Following this trend, Chinese designer Guo Pei(1967~) is actively innovating elements of traditional Chinese wedding dresses. This study aimed to analyze changes in traditional wedding dress styles by dynasty in China from 1046 B.C. to 1911 A.D. based on museum data and previous research. Changes in traditional wedding dress styles by Chinese dynasty were analyzed and organized. The meaning of wedding dress patterns was analyzed by type using traditional Chinese patterns. This study focused on Guo Pei's 2012 "Chinese bride" series and "Legend of the dragon" series. Starting from the development and characteristics of traditional Chinese wedding dresses, this study analyzed fashion characteristics of Guo Pei's wedding dress series. Goals of this study were to preserve the essence of traditional Chinese wedding dresses; and to determine how to apply the fusion of traditional Chinese design elements into fashion and modern design to wedding dresses.

  • Man kind has been doing a human body ornament as a expression of desire for beauty from the earliest times. The ornament might assume expression for the human body earlier than clothes it has protected human body from the exterior such as dishonor, cold weather and hot weather etc. because ornament has been excavated compare than clothes. for example. The aborigine's clothes and tools seem to be more splendid ornament than natural function. The ornament has been development with variety such as bone from the animals, Feather from the primitive ages to high technology new materials in the modern society. In this research contribute that development of jewelry contents industries through the vernacular of tradition korean jewelry.

  • Historically, Korea has made and weaved beautiful jewelry based on delicate metal craft technique. Especially jewelries in Chosun dynasty among these jewelry shows practicality, fanciness and social symbolism at the same time, which is one of representative cultural origins to express characteristics of Korean culture. Since jewelry of imperial princess YEONG, an object of a study herein, was made for a court ceremony although it is an artifact of the end of Chosun dynasty after the time of enlightenment, it is expected be made based on traditional shape and standard in accordance with strictly respected court dress code in Chosun dynasty. It is also an important data of research for a court style and system as well as its artistry in its diversity of type, preservation condition similar to original form and its producers who are master craftsman parted in Sang-Uiwon (an institute in charge of dress and accessaries of court) at the end of dynasty. Thus, a study herein aims to research formatively valuable 11 selected jewelries among jewelries of imperial princess YEONG used at the end of Chosun dynasty, and search for industrial application method with digitalization of the shape and design and preservation of original form of traditional culture. Moreover, in accordance with proposing design data through review of traditional women jewelry, it aims to suggest possibility of application into modern jewelry design and cultural industry.

  • Jewelry is not only symbolic meaning of the fortune, but also it completes or redound to fashion style and its image in this modern times which diverse culture live together. The instinct for adornment which is long as human cultures is developed as Artwork genuinely to show effective self-expression that is aesthetic and distinguished. It would be from that it made by using metallic materials. In contemporary fashion, jewelry takes so much importance that it sets the trend. They carry a sensible message that expresses esthetic desire and originality. Among the so many kinds of jewelry, especially the necklace is located beneath the face and linked as a part of fashion, so it frequently has showed in Fashion Collection, We tend to study the effect of that the form, hue and character of materials of necklace that is expressed in fashion collection influence fashion image. The method of this study is comprised with precedent studies and analysis of necklace photos in fashion collection. For the analysis of data, we implement content analysis and statistical analysis using SPAW Statistics 18. As the result, fashion and jewelry effect interactively and share esthetic forms, in the view of total image necklace image is more strong than fashion image. Because the hue and the form of necklace take a great role to make fashion image with the sense of its eyesight, its effective coordination go up the delicate feelings of the fashion. So, it is very effective things that we predict the trend of fashion, then, coordinate with well-matched necklace.

A Study on the Ancient Fibulae

  • Fibulae have been used as clothing fasteners throughout history. They were especially popular with the Celts, but were also used by the Greeks, Romans, Saxons, and Vikings, to name a few. The earliest examples are found in the Mediterranean and Middle East, and date from 800 B. C. and earlier. Their use continues today, in the form of the modern safety pin. The first fibulae of the Bronze Age were very simple, much like modern safety pins. The form of this small functional object varies from simple to extravagant since it is also seen as a piece of jewelry, and is thus subject to the evolution of style. Its size depends on the thick/Jess of the clothing to be attached. Its fabrication demonstrates a great mastery of metal work. Fibulae would vary with the taste and wealth of the wearer. The Fibulae were divided into 10 styles according to the shape, Fibulae with Safety pin shaped style, Penannular shaped style, Animal shaped style, Diamond shaped style, Radiated head shaped style, Horsefly shaped style, Arched bow shaped style, Fan-shaped style, Trumpet shaped style, Arched-fan shaped style.

  • Accessories originated from men's ornamental instinct in the beginning as a body ornament. Women's accessories in the Joseon Dynasty have splendid structure and rich symbolism, so they are enough to be a target of the study for being contents of Korea's cultural archetype. Traditional accessories are the foundation of excellent formative and functional characteristics due to the extreme beauty of crafts. This study aims to develop archetype of excellent formative factors by making traditional accessories digitalized for perpetuation in order to apply them to the culture industry. In addition, it is to prepare the educational foundation by reinterpreting traditional accessories in a modern way. Therefore, this researcher intends to develop constituents of traditional accessories by means of digital images and suggest digital contents methods of accessory techniques by dividing constituents, techniques, materials, symbolic meaning, and attire and wear.

A Study on the Formativeness of Image of Medieval Religious Costume in the Modern Fashion (현대 패션에 표현된 중세 종교복 이미지의 조형성 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to understand the medieval culture and medieval religious costume by analysing and grasping the formative characteristics of image of medieval religious costume in the modern fashion that were represented to the modern fashion, and also to offer materials to predict the history of fashion in the future by considering the progress of modern fashion and recognizing the fashion to be progress. To examine the image of medieval religious costume in the modern fashion, this thesis divided it into avant-garde image, symbolic image, and mysterious image. These can be summarized as follows. First, in avant-garde image, the harmony between characteristic eroticism and heterogeneous materials are expressed and the formative change of religious costume into general costume are expressed. Second, in symbolic image, the symbolic meanings of the medieval clergy man's costume is expressed in modem fashion while its religious meanings and senses are expressed with symbolic image. Third, in mysterious image, the abundant and profound lights and colors express the mysterious senses of the costume and sanctity applied with mosaic painting and stained glass techniques, utilizing the splendor jewelry, spangle and materials, and most of its image reflects exotic and embellish tendency. As a result, this thesis could be described as follows; Previous religious costume of clergy man was used as a mediator between general devotee and God in ceremony, and it was worn by the general devotee to express devotion. This religious costume was utilized in modem fashion, and it gave the avant-garde image and symbolic image of religion. In addition to it, mysterious image was expressed with exotic and embellish tendency.

  • I do not think that the role of jewel case in modern society is simply to perform the role of storing and storing contents. Depending on the circumstance and environment, it may show some special performance with its contents. In order to obtain such a result, So I came to think about a new type of case design and wanted to find the starting point in the cultural contents which is the mainstream of modern society. I have focused on 'story' of many cultural prototypes. and adopted 'Heungbujeon', a classical literature which can share case and image, and popular recognition. After the design process, I made sample. so the research on the fusion of cultural contents can be both creative and popular. I think it can be another development direction of modern craft.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the ladylike style of Grace Kelly focusing on her costume design of 1950s movie and star image, and to understand how she became a fashion icon today. Her city elegant look was usually composed of A line or H line suits and dresses, pearl jewelry, gloves, handbags and her classic ladylike attitude. Kelly's luxury casual look epitomized a relaxed elegance based on the American sporting image including the Hermes "Kelly" bag. Her sexual elegant look showed the combination of freshness, ladylike virtue and underlying sex appeal. Her self-confident, ladylike style appeals to modern fashionable women who likes to be elegant but also sexy.
