This study does try to proceed on the assumption that complex buildings can vitalize urban life of modern society from contemporary complexity and cases of past failure, and intend to propose future planning guidelines and directions of the neighborhood mixed-use buildings in the housing development district of small cities. For this purpose, thirty buildings which had been built on Bugok housing district in Gimcheon from 1999 until 2007 were chosen and investigated in urban and architectural dimension. The scope of this investigation is that site size is below 400 square meter and the number of stories on the ground below 5 floor, and the method of that is through field investigation, field photographs, and recordings and drawings on those. Investigative contents could be divided and analysized into physical and functional elements in urban and architectural dimension. On the basis of these results, the future planning approach of complex buildings in medium and small cities will be considered as planning principles.

Social housing has a long history in Germany from the first still existing social housing ever, the "Fuggerei" in Augsburg (founded in 1521), over the last 100 years from the end of World War I to today's situation where the need in social housing has increased while the number of housing projects and the number of existing apartments in this program has decreased or ended. Socio-economic changes like demographic evolution, more single households, greater working abilities in bigger cities and an unforeseen highly increased number of migrants within Europe mostly but also from other countries led to the need of affordable housing for a growing number of people who are not able to care for their housing needs in their own responsibility. This is especially true for bigger cities, where the offer of affordable housing is nearly non-existing any more. The family Fugger, a trade and banking dynasty at their time, established a very modern housing concept, providing good and healthy living space for their workers. In 2018 now some trade companies, discounters (ALDI, LIDL, Norma) and IKEA announce to combine their interest in sales in the inner cities with the municipal interest of redensification of existing housing areas and conversion to ecological urban reconstructuring.

From the early 1980's, when Chinese government decided to take an Open-Policy. Chinese society faced a new turning point to be changed from traditional-society to modern-society. As a result her outstanding phenomena of civilization is to be seen in many points, like the oid styled traditional street is rapidly replaced by the modernized high-rise buildings. Like the other cities in China, Beijing(北京) also is on the step of modernization, and it's changing speed is faster time by time. In this paper, I'll discuss about Beijing's policy of reservation of Old castles(古城), some problems what they have though the procedure of China's Movement of Old Castle Reservation(古城保護運動). And through this case study, I'd like to focus on the way how we solve some problems what we have now concerning to the reservation and development of traditional cities.

According to the complexity and the pluralism of the modern cities, they are changing themselves into the multinoded and social - classless urban environments. The sudden drift of population to the cities is giving rise to the serious environmental problems, and the rapid increase of recreational needs among the citizen is changing the urban society into a leisure - oriented one. In order to coping with the abrupt change in the social and natural urban environments, the various fields of urban society should be co - ordinated. The study uses the green - city concept to get solves the incongruity of urban structure in Chonju City. The existing open space maps were drawn up by the various techniques such as the analysis of the topographic maps and collected data, the interpretation of the aero-photographs and the reconnaissance of site. The authors suggested the existing condition, and the problems and potentials of open space elements in Chonju City through the analysis of the existing condition maps. After synthesizing the contents of analysis, the 7u(hors established an exclusive open space system for Chonju City.

This paper discusses major strengths of tall buildings that distinguish them as sustainable solutions for the built environment. It sheds light on some of the key attributes of tall buildings as well as materials and technologies that could boost their performance environmentally, economically and technically as well as the natural habitats containing them. Tall buildings are portrait as major successful options for accommodating the ever increasing urban world population, with little negative impact on ecologies and environmental habitats worldwide. The role of tall buildings as 'vertical garden sub-cities' mitigating modern city problems of 'urban heat islands' and sprawling cities is explored. A few building examples as well as city developments are presented which represent the new generation of sustainable tall buildings that are setting trends for future projects incorporating innovations in materials and building systems and designs.

논고는 복합문화적인 측면에서 바라 본 현대도시와 공공디자인의 특징 등에 대한 것이다. 본 연구는 현대도시와 문화에 대한 연구를 위해 관련 문헌 조사 및 다양한 이론적 고찰 등 실증주의적 연구 방법을 적용하였다. 본 연구의 목적은 문화와 복합문화에 대한 논의와 그에 따라 현대도시와 공공디자인과의 관계성을 모색하기 위한 것이다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 우리나라의 대표적 복합문화 공간으로서 스타필드 코엑스 사례를 분석하고 이를 공공디자인의 개념으로 재해석하였다. 덧붙여 현대도시가 가진 문화적 혼종성과 복합성의 성격을 공공공간에 융합하여 공공시설물에서의 사적공간의 필요성을 제언하였다. 하지만 본 연구는 우리나라의 복합문화의 개념 정의에 있어서 이론적 논의는 있었으나 이를 뒷받침 할 수 있는 실증적 사례를 제시하지 못하는 한계점을 가지고 있다. 이는 후속연구인 현대도시의 복합문화공간에 관한 고찰을 통해 실제 사례를 조사 연구를 통해 보완하도록 하겠다.

Various kinds discussion are brought up to the table about modern social phenomenons that are practically difficult sometimes even impossible to predict in field of architecture. At the very moment, 'landscape' emerged as an important concept defining contemporary architecture a very different way. Architects have and still are processing various experiments with the changed concept of 'landscape' as it became new means to construct reality. In modern cities that have possibility and potential energy, many architects have proposed 'Landscape architecture' as an architecture mode that have indeterminacy and open to all possibilities. The present study analyzes the characteristics of landscaping that appear in contemporary architecture and interior space in recent years, and present landscape as a new possibility in interior space.

In this Study, the search and analysis for the contents of the mass media, especially, such as newspaper articles, broadcast campaigns, broadcating advertisings, the Internet, etc, are accomplished under the assumption that the cause of the negative and fragmentary images about Africa holds a place in Korea's heart resulting from Korean mass media. Africa was seen as not only the continent of famine and diseases, but also a safari and the Nature's repository. However, these images are only the fragments of information about the African continent. So, we have to understand and recognize the origin of Africa in aspect of its learning and the mythology as well as the truth of the African as modern human origins. Moreover, we have to do our endeavor to have a good perspective about Africa as our future partner somewhat less than the wretched continent that we applaud their effort to the pursuit of stability and the development in terms of their modern cities, economy and politics and we have to aid and send relief cargoes simply.

Pedestrian assemblage is now a normal phenomenon in modern cities. To maintain an unblocked traffic situation, protect the pedestrians' safety and make preparedness for any emergencies is an important task for police department. Modeling pedestrian dynamics and simulating evacuation process can provide useful information for make accurate decisions. In this paper, by virtue of geographic information technologies, the authors proposed a conceptual framework to simulate pedestrian dynamics and evacuation in an open urban environment.

본 연구는 중국 역사문화도시의 현대 공공조형물의 표현 특성을 분석, 공공조형물이 어떻게 효율적으로 역사 문화 요소에 개입하여, 장소성을 표출할 수 있는가를 파악하고자 함으로서 공공조형물이 지닌 장소적 의미와 적용에 대한 기초자료를 제공하고자 한다. 연구방법은 첫째, 문헌고찰로 역사 문화 도시의 개념, 장소성의 개념 등을 이해하여 이론적 기반을 제공하였다. 둘째, 선행연구 고찰을 통해 공공조형물의 표현특성을 분석하며 10명의 조형 및 디자인 전문가로부터 특성에 대한 평가를 통해 장소성과 관련이 가장 많은 8개 요소를 선정하였다. 셋째, 사례분석으로 중국의 대표적인 도시인 상해, 북경, 광주의 공공조형물 중 발행량이 가장 많은 7개 잡지에서 60개 사례를 선정하여 전문가의 평가를 통해 최종 15개 공공조형물을 선정하였다. 연구 결과에 따르면, 역사 문화 요소의 발굴이나 도시 현대 인문 정취를 표현함에 있어서 세 도시의 공공 조형물 모두 각기 다른 장소성을 구현하였다. 독자적인 선진 기술이 가져온 예술적 독창성과 대중과의 상호작용을 결합하여 도시만의 독특한 역사 인문적 요소를 활용하여 다른 지역과 다른 장소를 만들어내는 것이 공공 조형물의 발전 추세이다.
